Let’s get an October challenge started. October starts the holiday season around here, so let’s hold ourselves accountable! What should the challenge be?
We could do:

Lose 8 pounds
Exercise 3 days in the week
Meet calorie goal 6/7 days

Or anything else. I’m up for anything! What do you all think?

Awesome, thanks for getting this started! I am also adding a step challenge for me, but only because I am really trying to increase my steps. I MUST keep them between 6000 - 8000 per day - trying to increase each month. :)

I'll post tomorrow what my stats were for today. :)

I'm in. I'd really like to get in a disciplined month or two before we get into the Christmas season. We have Thanksgiving this upcoming weekend (Canada) and I also have a weekend away the weekend after that, but those two events aside I'd like to button October down tightly.

Thanks for getting the challenge started.

I’m in! I need the accountability and connection! Just found a heart monitor I bought years ago. Wonder if it will work? I will read directions and check it out. Fitness monitor scheduled to be delivered on Friday. Bought it from Misfit. Usually costs $99.99 and was a sale for some reason, so it only cost $9.99. It is supposed to be waterproof and discern walking versus swimming.

I have been weighing on Saturdays. Recent weigh-in was 337.4 lbs.

I have several miles left to go on my virtual race... so 3 days a week will be a great goal!

And meeting my calorie goal 6 days a week will keep me accountable. I have been doing much better the last month. I used to regularly eat 6,000 some calories a day. Surprised I never blew up beyond 345 in the last four years. 359.7 was the highest I ever was. Don’t want to go back to that... don’t want to stay where I am.

@RunaMarti I’m curious to see how you like it. My daughter got an Apple Watch and I think I’m going to try her old Fitbit. My phone tracks steps though so I have a pretty good idea of my steps if I wear pockets and can carry it around with me.

    Recap to add exercise:

    10/1: 299.7
    Exercise: 4874 steps
    Calorie goal: under

Been doing good with staying under 6 of 7 days so far. Just have to kick it into gear to get my exercise in. Just have to do it!!

Trying to give myself up to the challenge this month and get out of the fitness protection program! 🤪🤣 Had a nice walk last night. Miscalculated my distance along the river and ended up in downtown. Oops... so, not a short distance day!

I'm here! Sorry if I've appeared to be MIA. In a nutshell, I am pretty sure that I have lost a little bit -maybe a pound or half a pound - but I want to wait until Monday to weigh in.

My goal was to walk 6000 - 8000 steps daily. I have done and or exceeded that. Twice I've actually hit 10,000 (whoa!!).

My food intake has been a hard one. My mom had moved in with us for a while -which was great because she cooked every single day, and we had healthy measurable things. But now that she is gone we have gone back to picking up quick things and eating out. Our work schedule makes it so difficult to come home and prepare a meal. We do have a crockpot that we use quite often, but my daughter borrowed it and we just got it back last night. Hoping for a home-cooked meal tonight!

@cnavarro002 : great job with all the walking! My husband and I found ourselves ordering out several times a week when we were short on time and something that has helped me is to dedicate one day to grilling up a bunch of chicken and then anytime I am short on time, I know I have something healthy I can throw together with some veggies for a healthy meal. I also always have a few healthy meals frozen and waiting for me. For example, right now in my freezer, I have turkey chili and a turkey meatloaf. I have them in there for nights I have zero energy to cook and can just toss it in the oven or microwave and have a healthy option.

@CheezWhiz88 thanks for the ideas! I am soooo bad at meal planning! That is one of my biggest weaknesses! I know that I should, but I have never even tried. This morning I got excited because I was able to bring leftovers for lunch. I now have goals, meal plan!!
