Some of you have been with this challenge for months and some are brand new. This is one of the hardest challenges to stay with throughout the entire month. FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!! Log every BLT (Bite, Lick, Taste). Stay strong and true to yourself....YOU WILL SUCCEED!!
Please feel free to share as much information as you feel comfortable sharing about yourself with the rest of the group. I look forward to getting to know all of you a little better. GOOD LUCK!

December will be my 13th month of participating in the UAC challenge with the goal being to live a healthy life. Monitoring calories, logging, and exercise are the key components of this challenge, yielding success when coupled with individual determination to stay on track. I have been in maintenance since January 2018, and find that balancing exercise and calories to neither gain nor lose weight requires just as much attentiveness as actively trying to lose or gain. One can't become complacent simply because a goal has been achieved. To continue to maintain requires continued diligence. Accordingly, I have come to realize this is a lifelong commitment. UAC is my inspiration for continued diligence. Welcome to all the new team members who are joining UAC for the first time in December, and to the "virtual friends" with whom I have become acquainted in the last several months. Thank you for being my cheerleaders on this journey. I am privileged to be among you!4

Hey Everyone, I am really excited I found this Challenge. I am 62 years old and weigh 196. I would like to lose around 50 pounds. I am currently on a 21day logging streak, I started Nov. 1st. I am down 5 pounds, so far. The Holidays are going to be hard, so I am going to love the accountability.5

Hi, I was part of the UAC for months (ahem even years?!) but recently took a little break. I'm looking forward to joining you all again, old friends and new. Best group there is on MFP. Let's hope we can all be on the good list for Father Christmas, Papa Noel, Santa, Babbo Natale, Olentzero or whoever is in your county!4

@w8goal4life yes, inspiration indeed! But sometimes a break is necessary. Happy to return!2

Hello everyone, I'm in for December too. No idea what month it is for me, maybe 3rd or 4th.
I'm in maintenance and find that UAC helps a lot with keeping me on track. Unfortunately right now I'm also still dealing with an injury that lets me train but in pain, way too easy to unload my frustration on food and make it worse...so I'm even more glad to join UAC once again.
Hope everyone well on their journeys and let's do this!4 -
Hi all. A big month in December for me. I’m 205 lbs and looking to be about 172lbs. Imperial makes no sense to me for weight but hey, I’ll give it a go!! From Australia and metric is our system. I’m looking at being held accountable for my actions. I lost my brother on the 25/10 and we shared 17th December as our birthday, 2 years apart. So it will be a big month. Hoping for some support and to support others here.
Happy decembering!7 -
Succeeded September, failed October-November, and now I'm ready for a comeback! 💪🌟 I'm excited to be back and make progress, this is such an awesome community!
@GlennEust I'm sorry to hear about your lost, we're happy you came here and I wish you luck on your fitness journey. Sending u lots of support your way Have a safe December!5 -
Good to see you @peachpastries !! Glad you are back with us!
December will be my 3rd month with the UAC, and first HollyDaze season both with you-all and since I restarted MFP last April, following a years-long absence. This challenge has been wonderful for making me data-gather - and from there becoming aware of what does (and doesn't) work so well for me. I have also really enjoyed getting to know the returning regulars, and look forward to meeting newcomers.
I still have maybe two month to go before I reach the point where I will pick a maintenance zone (after 19 months of steady effort, and 36 pounds so far) Something I really like about the way this challenge is structured, is that it works no matter where you are in your journey. I can "stay with these friends" even after I am no longer working on the shedding, but rather on the maintaining.5 -
Hi new to this challenge, and trying to get back on track, thought this would be a fun way to do it. I like how it doesn't push weight loss necessarily, and just being healthy in general. I appreciate that. I am in this to lose about 100 pounds total, maybe upwards of 150 pounds. I keep falling off the wagon, but I need to dust myself off, and hold myself accountable.6
-
Hello! I've just hit 17lbs lost today, and I'm aiming for another 10 by the end of the year. I struggle with keeping active while visiting my family (I'm a grad student, so I head home for weeks around the holidays) and having reasonable goals. Hoping this can keep me moving throughout the month so I can get into the healthy range officially!6
-
New to UAC. I’m looking for accountability and motivation. I’ve gained 30 pounds in the last year due to medication and just can’t seem to get back on track. Hoping UAC helps!5
-
It will!! (it amazing what putting the data-collection under your nose points out in terms of personal trends you weren't even aware of)3
-
Hi! This is my first challenge at all with MFP so I'm excited to be a part of this. I struggle with staying motivated and tracking so I think this will help to ingrain those habits. My family is very diet centered and I want to focus on healthier options and movement so I like the flexibility of this challenge while still pushing myself.5

@allyssa5, Welcome to our challenge! This is my 3nd or 4th month, Rick does a fabulous job with it. Plus there’s sooo many people here that helps you stay motivated.6
-
Hi, I would like to join. I have done well w accountability groups before. I tend to hang with my partner without it.
I need accountability for exercise, calories, and drinking water. It is so much harder in the winter when it is dark, and sometimes snow or ice, after work to exercise.
Thank you for setting up and moderating this challenge.

Joining UAC again for December! I've been with the group since February of 2018. I Have only made the winners circle once...but every month has made a difference. The team structure, daily habits and insights have been amazing. I've lost weight and move closer to goal every month!6

Hello! I'm new to MFP and very excited to have found this challenge. I believe this is an excellent way to start my first full month on here! I am a freshman in biomedical engineering, and I hope (like everyone else) to make it to the winner's circle! Having only 3 pass days for the entire month is going to be a challenge and I'm excited to see how far I'll be able to go.5
-
I'm coming back! After some time off, it seems I need to get back here pronto. There have been some stressful times taking care of my 95 year old mother-in-law and an injured daughter (she's OK now), but I think December will be calmer and I'll be able to get back to taking better care of myself. For the first time in ages I have had some episodes of eating things right to the bottom of the container, and my exercise is spotty at best. My son noticed a bit of softness where there wasn't any for a long time, so it's time! He is my best accountability reminder, always.
I'm turning 65 in January, been on maintenance for a few years, and it is seriously winter here in beautiful rural Québec. I love to snowshoe and there is enough snow early this year - I'll be a happy person out in the woods. I'm looking forward to getting to know new members, and re-connecting with familiar ones. It is always great to have you there in my mind as I reach for the cookies or sit too long on the couch. Podge be gone!8 -

Hope to see you in the Dec Winners's Circle, but don't forget that, even if you end up using 4 (or more) you are NEVER bumped out of the UAC group. Stick with us anyway, and try again the next month. Soo I expect to see you Dec 31st, WC or no!4 -
This last week I tried Noom's free trial. I found out that as far as accountability I was kinda on my own. The coach wasn't very good at checking in and it was too soon for me to get a group yet. I figured that I could keep using MFP (which also sync's well with Fitbit, Noom did not) and get the same results AND find a group such as this one to help hold me accountable for what I eat - I have no problem with exercise.
I'm excited to join this group and can't wait to see where I am at the end of Dec.8 -
I'm back for December! This will be my third mknth. So far, I have made it to the winner's circle each month. As with everyone else, I expect this month to be an interesting challenge, given the constant temptation of social gatherings and holiday goodies. However. I'm prepared to give it my best effort!!3

Hi everyone! I'm new here as well. I have used MFP on an off for calorie tracking before but it had never occurred to me to check out the community! Very excited to have found you guys, this challenge sounds like just what I need! I have gotten a bit too comfortable with my diet lately and want to lose a few stubborn pounds. I tend to start off well but then struggle with consistency, so ultimate accountability it is! I hope to see you all at the end of the challenge!5
-
Hello all. This is my first challenge. I'm new to using MFP for anything but tracking. But my tracking has been lacking lately, and it shows. So, this challenge is just what I need as a kick start!5

Hi. December will be my third consecutive month in the challenge. I haven't made the winners circle in the past 2 months but I lost over 2 lbs in November and 4 in October, so now I'm within 5 lbs of what is classified as a normal BMI, which is my big goal. I really enjoy the accountability the challenge offers and I'm happy with the results. December will definitely be tough, but I know there's lots of support here!8

I'm Terri. I'm 72 years young from Northern Ireland. Retired teacher. Back for my 2nd month on UAC, and loving the accountability.
I have been using MFP since Jan 2015. I have lost 62 lbs, but have been bobbing up and down 5lbs for a couple of months now. Losing the final 10lbs seems more difficult, but I'm determined to get it done by Christmas, so this is just the ticket for me at the minute.
Focus is the same as last month, achieving a maintenance weight that gives me wriggle room for high days and holidays. I'm using daily HIIT cardio/strength combo, and yoga/tai chi. I have my own weights and apart from walking, I work out at home using YouTube, fitnessblender, darebee, and anything else I come across. I love dancing, and attend fortnightly dance classes.
Present Daily Goals:✅ Staying strong. I am determined to do this.
Pre-log food; balance macros/micros
Hydrate adequately
Cardio: 9,500+ Steps daily
Strength: 15+ minutes
Flexibility: 15+ mins
Daily Mindfulness Practice/meditation
15+ mins Daily Declutter session
Challenges: Sole Mates/100 days/Just 10 Days/UAC10 -
I’m back. I’ve been on and off mfp the last few years and usually join this group when I’m on. I had no intentions of joining uac until January, but somehow here I am! I don’t expect to make the winners circle this month, but the accountability will be good for me.6

Hi All,
I’m going to try this again for December. I was here for the first 14 days of November, my first month trying, and fell flat on my face when my in-laws came to visit for 10 days. December won’t be easy, but it should be much more predictable than last month.
To introduce myself again.... I’m a busy mom trying to lose my last 10-15 pounds.
See y’all on the check-in thread tomorrow.5 -
Hi,
I've done MFP in general on and off for a long time now. First time doing UAC though and I really like that it's more about habit-forming than the actual scale because my loss tends to be slower than the numbers would suggest (and then I get frustrated and stop trying). So I'm hoping focusing on the habit will help keep me trucking along.
I'm also hoping to stick with a solid daily routine as well, including a daily menu plan because I want to see if reducing decision fatigue helps with all of my stress.7 -
Hello All,
This is my first month of UAC and I am already so glad I’ve decided to join up with you. I need the accountability as we go through this month full of yummy foods and reasons not to do my workouts.
I used MFP to lose 45 pounds in 2014/2015. Regained and then lost 10 of those pounds. The losing took all of 2018 at a rate of about 2 pounds a month. I’m now 8 pounds from my goal weight and I don’t want to stop my progress, but honestly, I’ll be happy if I maintain my weight this month!
