For all you techies out there.
Ds1 is needing a new computer. His is 5 years old now. He will use it for school. Writing papers, watching videos, presentations etc.
MacBook Air?
MacBook Pro?
Others to consider?

Boy - wish you got me a week earlier. I just traded in my MBP to purchase a new one.

If he is using cloud (no devices) - MacBook Air.
If he plans to save things to external devices (thumb drives, etc) - MacBook Pro.
I recommend too, to go to the APPL site and go to the refurbished link (very bottom). I bought my niece a refurb 2016 MBP a few months ago for school for around $800 - it was brand new!

You can't beat Apple. But I am bias.

    Good luck!

Ron got a Huawei. He LOVES it. Great combo of powerful OS, battery life and weight.

It appears he is a Mac person. I am not. I will humbly keep my mouth shut.

    Lol!

Dennis - I respect you way too much - you cannot hurt my feelings because you have not yet found your inner Apple. B)

Ha ha, Dennis, I feel you, brother. I have an instinctive dislike of Apple. I can't stand their whole "everything is proprietary so you buy from us or don't do anything" marketing strategy. When I was editing the newspaper, I had a government PC and an Apple desktop unit from the printer. One was no better than the other, that I could see, despite the religious fervor of the Apple adherents.

What I am amazed at is a 5-year old needing a computer. Wow. They write papers and make presentations in kindergarten?

I thank you for your input.
The MacBook Air is made so you can use all external devices now with an adapter of course.

I love my MBP - I bought it refurbished a couple months ago - I keep most stuff on the cloud but for the difference in cost you get lots more with he MBP rather than the Air.

The kids all seem to like the Macs.

I am in the same camp as Dennis and Richard.

are you calling me a kid?

I think that might be interpreted as a micro aggression in our present society. We identify as the less-aged 😂
