Usually, on the 15th of the month, we take our eyes off of the scale and we celebrate a non-scale-victory (NSV) in our lives.
It so encouraging when we share what's going right in our lives, whether or not it is due to this challenge.

morning all x I've got more energy for sure and clothes feel better on even after only 7lb lost. I also feel that I am treating myself well, better. I have a better sense of self esteem because I am treating myself as someone worth looking after, worth investing time and effort in, giving myself something as opposed to giving to others all the time. it's empowering and I am loving it x have a great day folks x

My favorite day! I love reading everyone’s NSV!
I was in a rush at the grocery store, walking fast. I realized how fast I was walking and I could feel this power in my thigh muscles, I felt like this strong, powerful and graceful person and it was absolutely effortless.
It wasn’t my imagination, I AM this super strong, powerful and graceful person!!!

Here's my NSV for this month. We're at the beach, staying at a hotel we've stayed at for years. They make delicious homemade donuts every morning.

Well, the first morning I had my two donuts, tracked them and was able to stay under. I actually tracked them for all three days we'd be here.

The second morning, as I lay in bed, I determined that I was going to have the oatmeal instead. I asked God for the strength to resist (old habits die hard and I've never been here without having them). I went up to get my coffee and oatmeal, never even looking at the donuts. I was so proud of myself!

This morning I did the same thing. I did glance and saw a strawberry iced donut but keep going with my coffee and oatmeal. We're leaving this morning for Orlando so I won't have this temptation anymore but I'm so proud of myself for not having donuts two of the three days we were here.

This thread is going to so awesome!!! I haven't yet lost any weight, according to the scale, but my attitude has changed drastically! I sit at a desk all day and my steps were at 6,000/day. Since starting this challenge, my steps have reached over 10,000 almost every day and I feel better! I'm making myself go outside several times a day as I walk back from the restroom, that is furthest from my office. I've found that I'm taking more time to look at the flowers, birds, trees, etc and just slow down. None of this has to do weight, but it certainly has to do with health, happiness and peace. This is the most supportive and uplifting group I have found on MFP and I'm so thankful for the suggestion to join! I hope everyone has a great day and thanks for all you do!!

NSV - in my other challenge, I made second-highest for total steps over the course of a week (thanks to the fitbit being able to track ALL steps in a day ...)

I am also managing to settle well into my second month at maintenance, so far.

My attitude towards weight lose has changed.
Few months ago, a family friend(couple) that have known me for years, came over to my house just for weight management advice. They've observed me lose over 50lbs and maintained for the past 9yrs.
They came with paper and pen. Recently, they called to thank me and also report of the compliment they got from their doctor and about their weight an attitude.

My NSV... positive influence on those around me. This is was one of my desires when I started this journey.

hey there x I've enjoyed reading the thread this evening x 3xyes for me 3 walks with my daughter today so this challenge is good for her; the more physical activity we do together (shes 7) the more she wants to do she's loving it - what a NSV!! 3 x yes today but to be honest I'm eating some rubbish food even though am coming under calorie limit - I'm basically eating what I used to but not quite as much. I'll Google some more nutritious food- any suggestions are welcome x best wishes all x

37 weeks pregnant so my answer to all of Rick's questions is a no! My clothes are not looser, I do not have more energy, and people are most certainly not asking me if I'm losing weight but saying things like "Wow! You couldn't be any bigger" and "ooh any day now."

NSV - still striving for those daily yes x 3 healthy habits. Having a (touch wood it continues) straight forward and healthy pregnancy. Being healthy and able to still work - got one more week to go. Even took the children I teach on a school trip today. And managed to submit my final assignment for the post grad qualification I've been working on. So maybe I do have some energy from somewhere thanks to the UAC!

Late night, busy after work, but got walk in before having to go out (results of daughters career testing).

Daughters current school had a careers testing (being 15 and 2 years before the end of high school). This assesses personality, interests and aptitudes. Quite comprehensive (far more than we ever had when I was at school). She is, broadly speaking, an ENFJ with abstract reasoning off the charts and high verbal skills. Ideally suited to acting, communicating, teaching, caring. This is perfectly in line with what we were expecting.

This also re-enforces the "lack of fit" with the student body as few of her ideal career paths require great school results. The staff and teachers are fantastic, definitely worth the money. It just she has no in-school social group (and for this style of extrovert at her age, this makes school like torture).

Problem is that changing schools has no guarantee at solving this problem.

Our main focus for our daughter is to ensure she get the right method to complete the school system. This way she can find a vocation that she can thrive at. Which will then allow her to be independent and productive in society.

@RangerRickL. Love NSV days and hearing how others have changed and succeeded.

My NSV is that I recently had tonsillitis, something that would stop me for about 5 days at least. By the time I got to see a doctor, 3 days after the first symptoms, it was completely gone. I credit this to being in great shape from the habits I learned from UAC.

Loved reading all the NSV’s. I think mine is just how much I’m enjoying being “back on track”. No fear that I might fail to get to goal because I’m loving the process. This group is part of that.

Love reading everyone's NSVs. Always so motivating and inspirational.

For me, I've had a number of people comment on my weight loss/health over the last week or two. A pair of pants that were a tiny bit too tight the last time I wore them are almost too loose now. I ate sensibly at our catered staff meeting yesterday, despite not knowing what would be served. (Free food and uncertainty have definitely not combined well for me in the past, lol.) I skipped the breakfast pastries I knew wouldn't be as good as I wanted them to be and saved up for a dessert at lunch. I even split the brownie in half because the pieces were huge, and ended up not quite finishing it because it was so rich. (This would have been utterly unheard of for old me.) I feel like I've really progressed in terms of being adaptable to make this a change that I can sustain, and that makes me really happy.

My NSV is that today is my 31st day of logging in since we returned from vacation mid-April. I also, recently, bought a dress for an upcoming wedding in July. Fits perfectly on this 5'6" 115 pound 68 year old Granny...and is also quite trendy!

Will add my two cents worth, at this mid-month check point, which applies to both weight loss and maintenance. In addition to making good nutritional choices when eating, I also try very hard to "keep it simple." I like recipes just as much as the next person...but so very often the recipes we spend hours preparing are what sabotage our plans and good intentions. Eating an apple is a good choice, apple pie...not so much. Having a simple potato is just fine (there's nothing wrong with starch), but scalloped potatoes, potatoes au gratin or loaded baked potato is probably not the best choice. Shrimp is always a great option for protein, but deep fried or coconut shrimp compromises overall nutritional value. Grilled chicken would be the wiser choice over chicken parmesan. A piece of chocolate never hurts, but that triple chocolate meltdown or molten chocolate lava cake is probably not a good idea. The concept of keeping it simple is easy and much less time consuming than preparing recipes...and the bonus is that food prep and cleanup in the kitchen is even faster and easier. That's a "win" for me as, after 46 years of marriage, the less time I spend in the kitchen, the better I like it.

I now have my third art student, but this one for pay. I actually got a few tears in my eyes when this was finalized, when I realized it’s what I’ve always wanted to do❣️

Exercise: Nah, besides normal walking around the house, cooking for an hour, and nightly stretches I didn't exercise. Just been sluggish and trying to come out of another depression. Got a huge sunburn on my back and it hurts so much to lift my arms and lay on my back so i gotta wait for that to go down before i can workout properly

but tomorrow I plan on taking a long walk and gonna at least try to focus on lower body exercises lol
