Hi, every one, my name is Lisa and I'm preparing for the gastric bypass surgery, my surgery date is August 29, 2019. I started my Pre-OP diet on August 13, 2019. My daily goal is to take in a 1,000 calories for two weeks, to shrink my liver. I'm so excited about getting the surgery done, but I'm also scared, because I cannot tolerate pain. Do anyone have any suggestions so I can overcome this fear?

Lisa, I have a low pain tolerance, and I didn't even take any serious pain meds when I went home 24 hours after surgery. I knew from past surgeries (unrelated to weight loss) that my body doesn't tolerate all those strong drugs, so I went with just taking Extra Strength Tylenol, 1000 mg, every 6 hours. I didn't want to be nauseous and have to throw up due to bad drug interactions. I've had zero nausea in my 19 days post-op, so it was worth it. If you take it easy and give your abdomen time to heal there isn't a ton of pain. Stay focused on preparing for the time following returning home instead of pain. Taste test the liquids you'll need and stock up on them. Premier Protein 11 oz shakes come in many flavors. Find one you like. I wish you the best possible outcome! Sheryl0
