Practiced yoga yesterday morning for the first time in months thanks to Sam. Been so busy with other activity just haven't found time. It was great...just a 20 minute session, but felt so energized afterward and am feeling muscles today that I haven't felt in a while.
Eat and drink what you want, Steve. Maybe chew some gum afterward. Women are a funny bunch. We collect urine and stool samples in our clinic, so if I have onions or drink coffee nobody notices.
Canoe trip sounded very technical. Too bad no fishing.
Do you harvest mushrooms from your hikes or is it taboo to do so?
Why did neighbor scrap the suburban, Bill? Too fuel inefficient?
Be OP ;-)

Good Morning!
Yippee! Last day of work before vacation!
I have all of these great intentions for when we get back from vacation. I'm going to start cooking more, and making healthy meals. Right now, Connie mostly cooks during the week, and I cook on the weekend. I really do want to cook more, I just hope that I don't jump too far in, and make it a chore and not a joy. Believe it or not, I tend to do that.I also want to exercise better. I have been beating myself up trying to keep up with the You vs Year challenge on mapmyfitness. I don't know how to not go overboard. Sigh....
For vacation, I have planned for months to take Connie to a local alpaca farm tomorrow. She loves alpacas, and we have not seen any up close and personal. It is supposed to rain all day tomorrow. If it rains, we'll try to get a weekend when we get back.
On Monday, we will fly out of KC very early (6:30 flight), and land in Toronto about 11:30 a.m. From there, we'll drive about 1.5 hours to Niagara Falls, on the Canada side. We will stay there until Friday. On Friday, we'll drive back to Toronto, and spend one day there, flying back on Saturday afternoon. We are really looking forward to this trip. We have a few tours scheduled, but we are trying not to book too much, so that we can also be spontaneous. This spontaneous thing is new for me. The weather is supposed to be great. We are really looking forward to a little rest and relaxation. Connie and I will be married 30 years on Dec 29, so we are calling this our anniversary vacation.
For those that don't go to a Yoga studio, what do you use as a guide? I have a 10-minute phone app that I use, but that does not really work for me very well. Do any of you have a computer program or phone app that really shows you how to do the various poses? My phone app is "stick figures".
Sam, I loved the story about your old neighborhood church. I shared it with Connie. Yes, some churches do deserve to die out. Our current church is borderline, but I think that with our new pastor, they will pull it out. Our new pastor is awesome.
Have a great day!

Mornin'.
Well, I went to PT yesterday. Got a lengthy but fascinating lesson on how the urinary tract is connected to a lot of other systems, what can go wrong, and then tips on what lifestyle changes I can make to help. Gave me 4 yoga stretches, 5 reps each, to do each day, which will help with bladder health. Seems like this is now a highly developed 21st century science. Who knew? I go back in a month.
Steve, enjoy the Falls with your bride.
Babysitting again this afternoon. Going early to tune their piano, hopefully not breaking any more strings this time. This one's a Yamaha upright, DIL's from her childhood.0 -
Steve, I still use the YRG book
Have fun at Niagra and Alpaca farm.
Sam, I too enjoyed your story about church and I agree. I am not a coat and tie guy, more business casual unless its Christmas or Easter. Great point about the kids. Thank you for sharing.

Good morning gentlemen.
Never done any yoga. The concept is appealing, but I'm not much into group exercise, since my retirement from the big green group, 19 years ago.
Steve, I have always said about my family that "anything worth doing, is worth overdoing," so you are not alone.
Our church, like many, has an aging congregation, so we have made a big effort to get younger. Our fantastic new pastor is in her early 30s, with two young boys. A lot of church activities are aimed at young families. One challenge that remains, is to pry some of the older members out of the leadership roles they have held for decades.
You can pick up to two quarts of mushrooms a day, per person, in national parks, Lee, just like picking wild berries. But I don't have the knowledge to do so confidently, so I don't mess around with them. I do find the variety you see fascinating.0 -
Dave I use a book and DVD system called Yoga for Regular Guys and do it in the privacy of my own home. Ex WWE wrestler is the yogi. Appealed to my in my 40's because it didn't take make such a big deal about the zen part of yoga. Kind of the rock and roll side of yoga.

Lee, I forgot about Yoga for Regular Guys. I still have that book somewhere. Dave, that is a good one that is just about the Yoga, and less about the "spiritual" side of Yoga. And, the book has a little eye candy in there as well.0

Good Morning
I just donated my YRG book to the library book sale earlier this year. I could never quite learn the moves from the book. I did some group yoga for a bit but tore my shoulder so the love affair ended there.
Fully recovered from that bug. I know I am under the weather when I struggle to finish a cup of coffee. Tutoring this morning before heading home to try and get caught up on getting caught up. Got to drop into the Pain Clinic for another set of trigger point injections. Practice the ole dulcimer and prep for dinner. I am off to a special church presentation on Human Trafficking and one of the local shelters who work with victims. One of my Pastors has organized it.0 -
Steve, hope you and Connie have a great trip; we found the Canadian side of Niagara Falls beautiful; U.S. side not so much but then that was many years ago.
I had to dress for work for many years, have a suit for weddings and funerals now but try to get out of attending those. All churches around here accept casual dress and at contemporary service common to see shorts and t-shirts.
Glad you are feeling better Bill,
I've always been afraid I'll pick the wrong kind or poisonous mushrooms
Mike, enjoy GK's
Lee, any trials this weekend? doing yoga routine at least once a week will keep soreness at bay
Hope all have a great weekend
