Hi from Costa Rica, Central America!
In this photo, I had my laptop on top of a washing machine that is outside of the kitchen of the host family’s home. It’s a tropical country so I’m dressed very differently than when I am home in the Chicago metropolitan area.
I was working on the UAC November to December transition.
Those of you who participated in the November challenge did an extraordinary and exceptional effort!
For everyone involved in the December UAC, you are part of a wonderful group of people.
This group is encouraging and transparent.
It’s a joy to be with you all!

@RangerRickL Safe travels.
What a day. Took daughter to IKEA to look for a new bed. She wants to re-arrange the bedroom to help with mental state. She is definitely not 100% ready for public. A couple of interventions and time-out's to prevent meltdown or zoning out from memories or over-stimulation (she is hyper sensitive to light, noise and crowds). Fortunately mid-week is very quiet. Weekends would be impossible for her.
Had to accompany as mum and daughter emotionally trigger each other and things can quickly spiral out of hand. Since I can remain calm in a crisis, I act as the ground for both of them can keep things in control. The unplanned outing interrupted the work day, so worked late to compensate.
Still managed to get the walk in (and it was definitely required today).
Another meeting with the psychologist tomorrow.16 -
Afraid I'm gonna have to use a pass today.
The other day, I saw some ripe bananas that I didn't want to go to waste, so I made a double batch of my favorite flourless muffins for my family and myself.
I figured I could indulge in one a day for the next week or so since they keep for long time, and for two days I did.
But today, I lost control and ate too many for my own good.
At least now I know that I'm not ready for that kind of thing, and that sometimes it's better for food to go to waste in a trash can instead of in my body.
However, I did exercise hard, eat a healthy breakfast and lunch, and, although I had no choice but to eat a Subway for dinner, I had simply the sandwich itself and water instead of getting the cookies and soda combo deal.
Also, I got enough groceries to make some very healthy meals for the coming week.10 -
Good day for me. Food within the budget and mostly good choices. Rehab session in the morning and Jiu Jitsu class in the evening with a visit to my puppies in between. They are both doing well and the new one cuddled a bit, actually they both did. I really do have a great job (even if I have to go in during my leave on occasions like this).
Jiu Jitsu didn't go as planned. I wanted to roll with one of the upper belts but pushed too hard at warmup and got my asthma pump too late so was a bit light headed and ended up skipping technique and rolling. It's frustrating to not be where I want to yet, but I know that I will get there!
Tomorrow is going to be epic, but I'll tell you about that after it has all happened!10 -
3rd December
Exercise: Yes, did a 30-minute walk during my lunch hour and another 20 minutes to have drinks with friends this evening. The place was just too noisy, so I didn't stay long, but long enough to have one drink more than I'd intended! Fortunately I had enough exercise calories, which I didn't even use up. I walked up and down stairs a lot today, was working on the first floor (2nd to Americans) and the cafeteria was in the basement, -1. 4 x 15 steps each time, a minute or so each time going up, a bit less coming down. I must've gone up and down 5 or 6 times. Steps and stairs are a challenge for my smashed knee.
Calories: Yes, stayed under, using some of the exercise calories.
Tracking: Yes, logged everything.

@craigo3154, I'm sorry your family is going through such a rough time. My oldest daughter, now 40, suffers from depression, at times severe, and we're always seeking help for her. She's a very talented photographer and artist but for some reason it's never enough. She's working full time in a position that suits her talents but she's still struggling.
My thoughts are with you.
@UTMBdreams, nice work today.............keep it up!

@craigo3154 So sorry you are going through this. My sister is in her mid-40s and has depression, schizo, fibro, psoriatic arthritis, etc. She just moved to a new apt where things are much quieter, and her mental mood has definitely brightened. There's hope.
@RangerRickL Glad you're having an awesome time in Costa Rica! We had thought of going there for our 25th wedding anniversary next year but have decided on Northern California. We feel safer, and it will hopefully be less expensive. Safe travels home!3 -

Still sick 😤 So glad I’m exercising in the morning still, I feel great after a workout, not so much the rest of the day, so my steps are less, but it’s been two weeks, ugh! I just want to get back to my sort-of routine Everyone in this area is sick - even the docs I’ve seen, so thinking it will be a while.7 -

Found a brand new, never opened electric spiralizer at a thrift store today. I've always thought I wanted to try one to spiralize vegetables. It also came with a pineapple corer and spiral adaptor. Having tried it out tonight...I can honestly say that a good knife works better on pineapple...and the spiralizer itself is way too much trouble to be bothered with. Once finished with the pineapple...not only did I have to clean up the appliance...but also the kitchen counter, the floor and the bottom of my shoes...all of which were sticky from pineapple juice! Next time...whatever the appliance...it's staying in the thrift store for the next person!
@RangerRickL Welcome back to the U.S. Trust you had good flights and are safely back in Chicago.5 -
Pass day 2! Amazingly when I closed my diary mfp still said I'd weigh 1lb less in 5 weeks. Lol. But I waaay overdid it and bad choices of sweets also. I had a work banquet but that wasn't the problem. I just was super hungry and mentally breaking down and it was like a bottomless pit I couldn't fill.
Exercise was short dog walks this morning, 3000 steps walk at work, then ran 5k before the banquet.7
