Yesterday, I was in California on legal and family issues. Even though it was not a trip that I wanted to be taking, the landscape is beautiful.

Exercised?: No (Severe smoke haze visibility < 1km, warnings not to exercise outsize again)
Calories?: Yes
Tracked?: Yes
Severe smoke haze again today (was reported as worst air quality in the world - worse than Delhi or Shanghai). Government health warnings to limit exposure to outdoors and not to exercise outside. Still eye watering outside.
Daughter called late to say she needed to come home early (60 minute drive each way in the dark).
@RangerRickL. Take beauty where you can get it.
I try find things to be thankful for every day. I am thankful when my wife makes me breakfast. When she keeps the kitchen clean. That my family is safe and being looked after. That I live in a country where food is plenty, the streets are generally safe and most complaints are really "first world problems".11 -

Great reminders from both @craigo3154 and @RangerRickL to look for all the things we can be thankful for! I need this today, as I'm feeling grouchy and put-upon and just ate some Godiva-flavored feelings.
I have many things to be grateful for, despite how easy I find it to complain. Let me say I'm thankful for you all for being here and being supportive, as knowing you all are out there helped me find my way to treadmill where I'm writing this, instead of pawing through the kids' candy collections.11 -
Morning run and evening Jiu Jitsu plus good food choices make a successful day. Work was mostly admin because I finally got the printer sorted by moving things around and attaching it to my PC. A few weeks of not being able to print left a backlog and I get to start leave once I get through my list. Might make it by lunchtime on Wednesday but will probably need to go in on Thursday to do the last bits.
I did get to cuddle with one of the other staff members grandson today. He was born in October, 2 months premature, so he is still tiny but very healthy.
Jiu Jitsu was good except that I tweaked my shoulder worse than normal and had quite a bit of pain. Luckily I have strong meds left from last year's surgeries and have physio booked for tomorrow.11 -

3 x’s yes! An hour each of Pilates, spin and kickboxing! I’m not eating back exercise calories (I’m set for my activity level) so when I blew almost ALL of my daily calories on pecans earlier I had to suck it up and just have a yogurt for dinner. I’ll be more balanced tomorrow.5

..
@Hollis100. These news reports are true (and are understandably distressing), however here are also many stories of where wildlife has been saved, people helping and being willing to help. Also there has been an enormous amount of physical and financial support for the people and communities affected by this crisis.
The media is good at highlighting bad news, and all but ignoring the good. Bad news sells.
The situation will improve. There have been large fires in the past and areas have recovered from those. Ground burnt takes time to re-grow, but it does re-grow. Wildlife populations do return. They just take time and care to manage.
The forest I walk in almost daily show signs of old fires that have been through. However this forest now has wallabies (small kangaroos), echidnas (spiny anteaters), kookaburras (birds) and many more types of wildlife (wrong types of trees for koalas). The forest is managed and there are frequent cleared fire breaks where ground fuel reduction has taken place.
I choose to looks at the good in this situation rather than be distressed and overwhelmed by the bad.
One thing is for sure, changes for the better will be put in place. With the global focus on the situation, those responsible environment management in the affected areas will receive at least part of the help they have been requesting for some time.9 -

Yes x3.
Today was difficult. First day this month I struggled. Hopefully after a good night sleep I will be right back on my determined schedule.5 -
Today wasn't one of my better days. I set my alarm for 5 am so I could head to the gym and even had a new workout planned. I'm using my gym's app for some new ideas and I like a lot of them. Unfortunately, I was dizzy as hell when I woke up so no gym. I barely made it through the work day. I did manage 60 minutes of hip therapy and Epley maneuver in 10 minute increments. If it wasn't for this group.................
I'm not giving up on my goals this year.............I refuse to quit and rest on my fitness laurels...........LOL
