On May 16, if you have not yet posted your Non Scale Victories, please do that.
In addition, this is a great day to go back and read what our team members have posted for NSVs. It's inspirational.3 -
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. It was a great day and I'm looking forward to a great year.10

My morning run turned into a run and walk. Apparently my stamina isn't up to bouncing back to normal exercise the day after donating blood. I did however recover enough to do zoom Jiu Jitsu, the killer yoga blast and hold pads for my house mate (which is a good shoulder without for me as well).
Prepped food for my next work shift and relaxed with series. Supper was Takeout which has become a weekly routine for us. I allowed myself to use exercise calories today because of how I felt on the run. I need to boost myself after donating blood and before my work.
I consider it a successful day.10 -
I always love reading everyone's NSVs!6

hmmm... NSV.... glad you asked RangerRick...: Well, after thinking I could not do my cardio kickboxing class again until I was at least 50 lbs into this weight loss journey...I've actually done it several times now...and feel great! I'm careful...don't want to get injured...but it does feel great to punch and kick....with cardio improving greatly! Another...well - being 120 days into this journey shows me that I'm committed to this lifestyle change...refocused on good choices and health thanks to discipline and support through this group. Love hopping on here to read things you guys post...and am encouraged every single time. Thank you all!6

day 16
on track day
yes x 3Got a good climb increment today.
Spent some quality time on my favorite road.
Little bit of traffic. Probably could count it on one hand.
Seen some black guys running.
These guys are world class.
I seen them train in the winter on the loop where my repeat hill is.
The outbound stretch of my climb is like six and a half miles.
So the round trip is just a speck over 13.
That ain't much for a bike ride except that it does have a pretty hefty vertical component.
But these runner guys started out somewhere behind me and passed me.
I am pretty sure they parked right next to me.
But they passed me on climb out maybe a little over two miles in.
That kind of irritate me but nothing I could do about it.
They kept right on going like runners that are a good bit faster than a bike rider.
I don't know if we turn around at the same spot up there at 6.5.
If we do I can kind of run with the idea that maybe I will catch them on descent.
But if I climb further than they did then I don't gotta think about them being faster on the same course.
So I descend. I didn't take any roll my shoulders stretch my neck shake my hands out breaks on that descent.
I thought I would pass them on descent.
I didn't see them again till I got to the car park.
Guess what they were doing?
They were turning around and going up again.
So those guys Saturday regimen is a full marathon with 4,000 of elevation change.
Heh! I seen them doing it last Saturday.
I see them in the wintertime on the 10k loop.
I bet they qualify for big money races.
I bet they like training at 8,000 feet like I do.
I don't know what to think or say for NSV.
Somehow it is in this idea that I know what some pretty real endurance athletes are up to.
And this ain't exactly like me watching them on tv.
Pretty weird eh?
I put a picture of the view from 6.5.
I don't know if those runner guys go there but if they are repeating that hill for a marathon equivalent, they kind of have to go to 6.5.8 -
Yes, yes, and yes.
Did another attempt at climbing the mountain in front of the house, I got a long ways, not quite to the top but maybe close enough. It turns out the top is more of a ridge than a single peak. It was a hard hike, quite steep and mostly without trails, just bushwacking. I went about 7.8 miles (12.5 km) and gained about 3,300 ft (1,000 m), really hard and slow. My app says I walked for 8 1/2 hours, with breaks I was out for about 11 hours. I was feeling pretty tired on the way down, the steep hill is harder for me to descend than climb. My knees are hurting, but I made it. I may have to take a pass day on exercise tomorrow. View of the next peak to the south from my top:

Had a "Quarantea" with ladies from church today, via Zoom. It was fun to see the fancy hats and use my special handmade teapot for the first time. It was nice to put on some nice clothes, makeup, and even perfume(!) for the first time in a while. My poor hubby has put up with me going casual for too long. It's time for me to treat him to another "date night"- with fine china and such. I stayed within cals because tea was virtual (I only had one cookie), otherwise it's an extravagant buffet. I must say it was nice going barefoot!

16th May
I thought I had posted, but hadn't.
Exercise: Yes, 60 minutes of walking. Weather was still not brilliant.
Calories: Yes, stayed under. Failed miserably on the low carb thing though. Things I consider healthy and like eating, like fruit and vegetables, are full of carbs. Also, I fell foul of a rice pudding that I found in my fridge and, once eaten, became aware of its carbohydrate content and then I couldn't un-eat it. Will continue on this low carb diet for a few days in an attempt to get the scales to budge.
Tracking: Yes, logged everything.
The best news is that I have been able to sign up for three one-hour classes next week, in the park, 9 participants, under loosened lockdown rules, so that could double my exercise on those days!
@alligatorob and @oldDogBiking: Fantastic!7 -
@alligatorob Fabulous hike! That's beyond awesome to spend the whole day out there.
@SheilaCali Great photo, sounds like tremendous fun
@oldDogBiking Another fantastic photo. Looks like you made it to the edge of the world.

Just got back from a medical clinic, been having trouble with leg muscles despite taking it more and more easy and it's been worsening so I went for help an hour before they closed as I was almost in tears and I live with permanent nerve damage. She didn't think it would improve without steroids so I gave in and let them inject me and took a bunch of pills. She said I should feel some difference in the morning, I'm choosing to believe it as I've spent months reducing activity and trying to ignore it and it's time for a break!9 -

Pass Day #22 -
Hi all!
I forgot to check-in.
Yes x 3
Have a successful day!
PS. I forgot to mention that I went out for a long walk for the first time! Lot's of hills and thank God no problems. I took a lot of stops to take it all in and to thank God for my blessings. It's good to see people out and about enjoying nature. It was a beautiful day.
