I had the DS a week ago exactly. I feel strangely terrific. Like, happier and looking forward to the future more so than in recent years. My main motivation for the surgery was that my beloved father died of liver cancer from NASH in 2015 and I myself was diagnosed with NAFLD in 2016. I couldn’t lose the weight on my own, so my liver was going to stay fatty and stay functioning suboptimally until I lost serious weight. I had done too many runs of Atkins the last 20 years and my hormones were too jacked up to lose on my own. So I had bariatric surgery. I was 277 at my heaviest, 260 on surgery day, and now 254.
