After a foot and calf stretch, I’m off to an early walk before breakfast. Will bring water and an energy bar. It’s already 70° and heading into the 90’s.

DGS got sick (stomach bug) first day of backpacking hike in White Mtns but he kept going and finished the trip. Couldn’t abuse his body with football this season so I guess he found a replacement. Love that kid.

    Have a good day.

    Mornin' gents.

Wow. I did not find time to post this weekend. Mea Culpa.

    Caught up on posts.

I understand the stigma of the only one wearing a mask, Steve. I really do. I would try and find a really cool head sock (my preference-easier for me to breath through) or mask that would would divert the attention from "is that guy a hypochondriac or what?" to "that guy is so cool".https://www.kcfacemasks.com/

Ha! Mike, I was gonna check the constitution but am glad you beat me to it.
You DGS sounds like a real soldier.

Heat wave and humidity continue here. Its brutal. My tomato plants and eggplants are the only ones loving it.

Cucumber harvest in full swing. Love a chilled cucumber and onion salad. Almost like eating crisp home canned bread and butter pickles but not as sweet. First zucchinis hit the grill yesterday as well.

    Back to the grind today.

    Be OP ;-)

    Morning, Men

Busy weekend with lots of in-laws visiting....at one point, I think I counted 16 kids here. Oi Vay!

We have a zero tolerance policy at our workplace. VA Gov says everyone will wear a mask. In the workplace - this is enforceable.

24 straight days of blistering heat here. Hoping for a break in the humidity soon!

    Cheers,

    Good Morning!

So another week starts. Stormy start here, but still very hot and humid. It is hard to work outside at all. Our garden is more weeds/grass than plants. It has also been so dry between rains that our crops are not growing well. We have a few tomatoes on vines that are not even waist high. We have not had a single cucumber or zucchini set yet. Yellow squash appears to be about finished. Some years are just tough to garden.

I'm not sure why I didn't post yesterday. I got several things done around the house.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning gentlemen.

Should be about 90, here in Tumwater. That's about as hot as it gets. I spent a year stationed at Fort Meade, Md. You can have that humidity. I played a lot of golf, in those days, and always walked, carrying my clubs. By the last few holes, in July and August, I'd be dragging, for sure.

Hope to get Rita to drive up to the mountains, today. I want to scout out a hike I want to do in the next couple of weeks. She had a migraine, yesterday, so we'll see how she feels when she gets up.

    Good Morning

When I moved west from NY & Philly I am not sure which I missed the least, the heat and humidity or the winters. I can't handle much of either now.

Yesterday we ended up getting a sandwich and finding a remote table to sit and eat. We canceled our plans to drive somewhere near the Bay and headed to a local trailhead for one of the larger regional parks that remains closed except for hiking. I used to do a bit of trail running here watching for rocks, roots and rattlers as you climbed up and then came down to the reservoir. Now of course, we didn't go up the hill, since DWs husband is a bit gimpy. But it was my first 30min walk in a while, my first time on an actual trail in a long while and we managed not to run into too many people. Felt good, though my back stiffened in the evening. My eldest came over to spend the night so he could take his car into the shop. Only the 2nd time we have spent time with him since it all began. It was good to have all 4 of us together for dinner. I grilled steaks, potatoes served with a nice salad and Fresh Peach Pound Cake for dessert. I drank a nice Double IPA with my son too since he wasn't going anywhere. I was more than happy, DW was more so. He'll work from here and head back to SF tonight.
