    Up an' at 'em!

Biked yesterday morning instead of walking, about 2 hours with stopping a lot to adjust new "Easy-Seat", which seems to be more comfortable now that I have the height and angle and front-back a little better. Tweaked the handlebar height as well. Complicated instructions say do a little at a time and give it 3 weeks of daily riding before sending back if I don't like it. Regular seats give me numbness on long rides and not so good for BPH symptoms.

Stayed in most of day because of sweltering heat, but went out after dark to a hillside farm to look for the comet. Very faint but visible with binoculars and as it got darker clearly visible just with eyes, too. Figured I'd catch it now rather than wait for next time 7000 years from now. It's below the big dipper in the northwest.

Sourdough bread proofing in fridge, will bake later this morning.

    Mornin' gents.

Wonder what the world will be like in 7000 yrs? Time travel would be pretty cool. Love a good time travel story.

    Super busy at work.

    Be OP ;-)

    Good Morning!

Bill, I am so glad to hear that you got a good 30 minute walk in. That's fantastic!

Mike, sounds like you have taken to a bike again. I have not been on mine at all this year. The temps here and the humidity have made it near impossible to do much of anything. Last night, I worked in a flower bed for about 30 minutes. Even with the temp about 80, I still sweated through my shirt in that short amount of time.

Like Lee, super busy at work.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning gentlemen.

Hope the saddle works out for you, Mike. When I was riding, I loved my Brookes B-12, leather saddle - unchanged design for 120 years. Once the leather broke in ( about 200-300 miles of riding) it was great. Why is it that the saddles that come with bikes are always terrible?

Had a long drive and a short hike, yesterday, to scout out a stream crossing I was concerned about on a long hike I hope to do next week. The stream crossing turned out to be nothing. But the mosquitoes were really bad. I am really chewed up and itchy, today. I had my DEET with me, but thought I could just walk fast and avoid the little buggers. That didn't work so well. Rita didn't come along, she was still suffering the after effects of a migraine. Good thing; she really hates mosquitoes and is very sensitive to the bites. Anyway, I hiked 5 miles.

After 90 yesterday, it should be 10 degrees cooler, today and back to 70 tomorrow. Pretty normal summer weather.

    Good Morning

My son used one of those leather seats when he was really into cycling a few years back. I remember him explaining about breaking in the leather. I probably could do some cycling soon if I stayed fairly flat. It would take a while to build up the strength and endurance again though. Nice day today. I hope to do some repotting out back, but will need my son to carry to bag of soil in for me. Just volunteer work to do today and some housework otherwise.

I hear ya about seats Mike. All my seats have generous midline groove or cutout and seem ok for now. 93° yesterday in PDX which is on the warm side but not humid. Saw the comet a couple of days ago. Nice with binocuars and extremely faint with naked older eyes. Probably would have been a bit better later at night too. A bunch of critters (mosquitoes?) attacked my ankles while I was sitting in the grass.
Dave I have had good luck with the 3M 12 hour ultra and also the special clothing for fighting off mosquitoes.

Bob, I have though about treating some hiking clothes with permethrin. The Army uses it. It will last through several washings. I have a spritz bottle of 100% DEET I use on hikes. Yesterday, I just sprayed myself with Deepwoods Off. I was just late in applying.
