    Good Morning!

I am very glad that today is Friday!

I just finished running on the treadmill. I know that I fight addictions. I am so addicted to my Garmin watch. Garmin software has been down now into a second day! I can't record my running on my spreadsheet. It is going to be a horrible day. Ugh!!! :( Well, maybe it isn't that bad, but it is bad, bad, bad. I'm an accountant, but I am still embarrassed to admit that this spreadsheet summarizes my running and walking. It goes back to 2005 when I first started running at age 45.

Well, that's my sad, sorry confession for the day. Onward and upward from that low spot!

Finishing up two weeks of trying to get an ear infection healed with our Frankie. I am told I need to put washing fluid in her ear every night. I have to do it outside, because she will shake her head that throw it everywhere. She has this distrust of me now when we go out after our after dinner walk. Just a couple of more nights. I also put meds in her ear, but she does not mind that as badly.

Still hot and humid in KC. This summer has been brutal. I have all but ignored our garden, but I did pick several tomatoes last night.

    Have a great day!

Finally able to buy a quart of hand sanitizer yesterday, first qt. bottle since pandemic started. Have found tiny 2 oz. bottles that were outrageously expensive; now I'm stocked up for a few months.

Steve, I have the Garmin inReach, and I got emails about an outage of services. I hope you recover from the missing accounting data...

    Stay well and keep moving.

    Mornin' gents.

    Happy belated Birthday to Rita.

Steve, I rarely advise clients to use a flush to treat ear problems any more. Mainly because they tend to be minimally effective and because the dogs HATE it. I am way more successful treating the underlying allergy (food or atopic or both) and using single dose treatments in the ears that last two weeks. Some dogs have such chronic infections that they benefit from 6-8 weeks of oral meds. I'll be the jerk and flush the ears at time of the exam but try not to ask the clients to do it at home.

Almost succumbed to heat exhaustion yesterday during dog training. Combination of increased dose of diuretic prescribed to combat the water retention due to pred and not drinking enough straight water. Humidity is through the roof.

Guess we take better care of the dogs than we do ourselves.

    Be OP ;-)

Feeling mortal. John Blake, an OU standout player under Barry Switzer, NFL assistant, and OU head coach passed. He was in my 9th grade class at Clyde Boyd Jr High in Prattville, OK. We played football together. He was a fullback back then and I was a blocking guard. RIP John.

    Good morning gentlemen.

One of the sad, but inevitable, parts of growing older is that we lose more and more friends and acquaintances. The other wakeup, for me, is seeing how old people start to look. Not I, of course.

I don't like hearing of service interruptions for InReach, Mike. I have been thinking seriously about investing in one of them, for my family's peace of mind on my more remote, solo hikes. What good is it if the service is unreliable?

DDIL picked up Indian takeout for supper and a fantastic cake for Rita's birthday. Now I need to eat the third of the cake that is leftover, before it goes bad. I don't know what it is called, but it has a lot of fresh fruit and is built up of layers of sponge cake, pastry cream and jam.

    Good Morning

Sounds like quite the celebration yesterday for Rita. Of course, now I want some Indian Food and am thinking that one of those Fruit Torte wouldn't be so bad to try and make. I never had one with sponge before so technically it would be doing research.

Another trip to the mechanic for an oil change. My car this time. I do maybe 5K a year so I just take it in every 6 mos. I have to rush back for a tutoring session this morning. Tonight I will reach back to my NY roots and make Chicken Parma Sandwiches. They won't be the same as getting it in an Italian Deli which along with pizza was my wife's favorite part of visiting NY when I took her back there many years ago.

Yup Garmin internet isn't working right now. Fortunately my Garmin unit is working ok by itself even though it won't connect to Garmin express.
I had thought of a Garmin watch myself. I hope if my son is using InReach technology they fix it soon. At least with the bike computer I can look at the most important data on the unit without connecting to Garmin express.

•RIP indeed . Sorry for your loss Lee. I was one of the smaller linebackers on the planet but loved tackling folks.

•Cake sounds great Dave. It is going to be hot hot hot here possibly 100° even on Sunday and/or Monday and still 90°s on Tuesday. We of course have no real build up or warning and today will be in the 70s and chilly at night.

Tumeric still seems to be working for me and my knee condition.

    Good Afternoon!

Lee, I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. Thank you also for your awesome advice for Ms. Frankie! I do very much appreciate you. I can just imagine how awesome of an in-person vet you are, and wish I could take my pets to you.

The business press is making the deal at Garmin sound like a ransomware event. Our chief engineer came to us from Garmin. He said that a couple of years ago this happened to Garmin in Taiwan. He said that the company has a lot of redundancies in their systems, and it can recover, but it will be a couple of days. He also said that this is WAY separate from the servers Garmin uses for military and GPS services. He also reminded me that my watch will store data for a LONG time, and sync up when the servers return to service.

Have a great rest of your day!

DD said she may come out this weekend and stay a few days; since she works from home can be anywhere.
