This is a solid and easy to operate set up. Can set up up for R or L retrieve, depending on your preference. If you are R handed, then a L handed retrieve may work best for you because if you hold the rod in the R hand to cast then you don't have to switch hands to retrieve.
I totally agree with Sam. You don't have to spend a lot of $$$ on your set up to catch fish, but as your skills develop, you may want to spend a wee bit more and graduate to a different type of reel.

I believe that particular rod comes with 10lb test. If you think bass will be your occasional target, then 10-12 lb line.1
