Made 3 bean turkey chili over the weekend. Had it over a baked potato last night. Maybe 3 cans of beans is too many beans.

    Be OP ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

I have evolved in my chili tastes. At one time, I was a purist, cutting up beef into small cubes and never putting beans in the chili - my Texas period. Then I started adding pinto beans to the chili, but still cut up the beef myself. Then I started using ground beef in my chili recipe. Finally, I started dumping a can of chili from Costco into a bowl and zapping it in the microwave. I hang my head in shame.

The rain goes away for a couple days. Hope I can get the lawn mowed this afternoon.

LOL, I feel your shame as well, Dave. Especially using ground turkey instead of ground chuck...plus I do have my own grinder. I should do better.

I have always liked some bean in my chili. It also helps extend the two pounds of meat. I used black, pinto, and kidney beans in this batch. It was good. My comment about the beans was due to the gastrointestinal side effects I'm experiencing.

My freezer has several containers of 10 can chili, but the stage of this low carb plan I am on has beans on the naughty list. Just stared at it this morning. It has been a while since I had a bowl of real chili. I may need to start working on a recipe. Off to see the ENT this morning to see what he can do about the increasingly loud tinnitus I have been having.

Awesome picture of the City, Lee. Me dad used to take me to the museums there when I was a young lad. He and my aunts and uncles grew up in NY in early 1900's.

My lithium power supply and solar panel just came in. Will charge it up and see how long it powers the CPAP at home. Temperatures look decent next week or so, maybe get in another short camping outing somewhere before it turns icy...

My favorite place to camp, Baxter State Park in remote northern Maine, was neighbor to large COVID outbreak in the last town before the northwoods, Millinocket. Someone had a wedding there in August with 80+ people, no masks and cramped indoor seating. Resulted later in ~200 cases and 7 deaths. Investigators still trying to sort out all what happened.

DSIL makes an incredible, unlikely looking chili with beef and beans and various veges, including mushrooms. Delicious, but he won't give out the recipe, says he 'just wings it'. I've made chili using lean ground beef and canned beans and McCormick chili mix, but often resort to canned chili. Used to make a WW recipe for vege chili which was very good.

Love your chili story Dave!! I get the same shaming if I use condiments on my brats/sausages/hot dogs other than some specific east coast mustard. Hey I let my fantasies play out and experiment.

Made a large pot of chili Saturday; added pinto, navy, kidney and black beans; no shortage of gas here. I find most chili mixes have too much salt for me.
When cooking I very seldom follow recipes, just add a little of this and that; use lots of herbs and peppers from garden
Yoga class smaller today seems a couple have Covid-19; I continue to check temps as they come into room, have only had to stop two so far.
Wanted to visit mountains but those who have been are reporting extreme crowds and few masks; hopefully can check out leaves next year.

    Good Afternoon!

    Late check-in today.

Lee, I liked your picture. My only experience with NYC, is a flyover going into Newark. We did a long weekend for our 10th wedding anniversary in Boston. That was very nice. That was also over 20 years ago! Otherwise, I don't have a not of experience in seeing New England. I would like to change that.

Dave, I really enjoyed your chili story. Ours is a simple recipe that is ground beef, two cans of red beans, chili powder, a small can of tomato sauce, and a can of Rotel. In the bowl, we add cheese and fritos. It is interesting to me how many chili recipes there are, and how they vary by region of the country.

    Go Chiefs!

Have a great rest of your day!
