INTRODUCE YOURSELF ☺☺☺☺

Hi everyone. ☺☺☺☺☺
I was vegan for over 10 years but due to health issues & finances I am more of a flexitarian or freegan who eats eggs, cheese & some dairy when it is "gifted" to me by friends & family.

I recently (November 2016) became gluten free because I discovered bread & other gluten was giving me migraines & stomach issues.

Being gluten free AND veg can be difficult.

Sometimes with family & friends I'll be the one with the plate of baby carrots because there is nothing else I can eat.

Usually I bring food that is gf & veg, but usually it's the only food I can eat at potlucks, parties & meals with family or friends.

Hope other gf/celiac & veg people find this group soon!!!
I would love to have people to share info/recipes/tips/food reviews & motivation with.

I see this is an older post but I'm here! I am celiac and have to avoid dairy and eggs apart from gluten. I also avoid red meat and oats. So I'm a plant based celiac who occasionally eats chicken or fish. This diet has cured all my ills, proven by lab results.

I'm here too! I'm a vegan (but I consume some honey) and also gluten-free. Vegan for the animals (and environment) and gluten-free for GI issues. I lean heavily towards whole-foods, plant-based, but still struggle with getting too much added sugars and also I struggle with oil - mostly I don't want to give it up! But with a vegan diet tilted towards the whole foods end, I've reversed T2 diabetes and NEVER had to go on any diabetes medications. After kicking gluten out of my diet I no longer use any PPIs meds, nor any GI meds. And from going vegan I've also gotten my lipids in really good shape. My typical LDL is 65-71 range in 2020 labs.

Hi! I’m new here. I am new to being gluten free as my doctor has taken me off it for health reasons. I am vegan by choice, but I do eat honey. I would love for anyone to share recipes with me or advice! Feel free to add me as a friend because I have no idea how to add you 😉

Hi, I was very excited to see this group. I know people who are vegetarian/vegan and people eat gluten-free - but not many people who are BOTH.

I became vegetarian 40 years ago (for the animals and the planet), went gluten-free 15 years ago (due to Celiac's) and eliminated dairy 2 years ago (still do eggs and honey on occasion).

I don't have difficulty with my diet at all when I am home, and I've made vegan food that even my most die-hard meat eating friends love - it's just much more difficult eating out - at others' homes, restaurants, etc. I had a friend tell me once, well you can get a salad and french fries, when we were at a restaurant and I told her I couldn't even do that. The fries were coated with flour to make them crispier, and the salad dressing wasn't g/f, either. Gluten is hidden in so many things people don't even think about!

But here in New Haven we have an amazing vegetarian restaurant, Claire's Cornercopia, that now carries g/f items, too, so I can eat there, and a local pizzeria that has started carrying g/f crusts, g/f rolls, vegan meat substitutes and vegan cheese.

I love trying new recipes! I'm determined to make one new g/f vegan meal each week from a recipe I find online. Tonight is soy curls "shawarma" and next Sunday will be jackfruit "corned beef"

I do hope this group becomes active again - it will be nice to swap recipes and stories with y'all.
