Hey, my name is Amber and I've never joined in on a MFP group before. I'm excited to try my best for this challenge and see what results and rewards I can get at the end of the month.
I am 27 years old, married and live in SW Missouri. I'm actually wanting to take my health more seriously and get into better habits because I am wanting to start a family! I'd love to find out that I was pregnant, but I really want to lose some pounds and set some solid health foundations as well!
Looking for all the love and support on all life's journeys.13 -
Hello my name is Benjamin, just joined the group, I have had weight problems most of my adult life, in my early 20's had an accident, some temporary loss of mobility, gained weight and have been on the Rollercoaster ever since, I am a professional Chef, so being around food all the time....... temptation.
Look forward to this challenge.12 -
Hey guys Donna here, married and recently had a baby. This is the 1st and only group i hve joined. Looking for accountability and a support group such as this to keep me on track and motivated as im finding that i keep going over my daily calorie intake. I am super excited to get started with this challange.10

My name is Marianne and this will be my first challenge. Although I eat healthy foods, I have portion control issues. I need accountability because I have a tendency to " wing it" and that never works out for me. I am the heaviest I have ever been and I am seriously worried about health issues because of my weight. Excited to do this in a group. I think this will help to keep me honest12

Welcome to you all.10

Hi folks. Back in for December. Welcome to our returnees and newcomers,
and a thousand thanks to our leader, @RangerRickL for helping us stay accountable.
I’m Terri from Northern Ireland. Back for my 26th month. Still working on improving my fitness and health. Made the Winners Circle 24 times so far.
UAC is a good place for anyone to start the practicing of new habits, in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Through being a member, I have achieved my lowest weight in 4 decades, and have maintained it since late 2019.
Just a few details on my personal journey to health and fitness.
Aim for 2020 ~ maintain at around 150 (I may even manage to drop a little more! 😂WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED
I am FOCUSED on heathy food choices and
DETERMINED to achieve my goals!
Age: 74; Height 5’2”; Female
SW: 227lbs (Mar 2014)
LW: 146.0: (Oct 2020)
UGW: 145 (this may change when I get there 😂 )
CW: 146.6- Initially, dropped down to around 160, and stayed about there until late 2018.
- Set new goal in 2019 to drop to 155.
- Reset it to 150 in March 2020
- reset it to 145 in September 2020
- My ideal situation is to maintain < 150
- I use CI/CO and a variety exercise for extra calories.
- Logic would suggest that I have found a natural comfortable weight, and, according to Smart BMI calculation, I am in the upper range of normal for my age and height. However, logic doesn't always dictate our desires and feelings. 😂
- Getting and staying healthy and fit requires the development of a permanent lifestyle reset.
- Replacing unhelpful habits with more useful ones is key to to the process.
- Losing weight is only one of the elements.
- Eating healthy and staying actively is not OPTIONAL, but an ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts on weight which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be several lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a permanent lifestyle change for most people.

Welcome all, I'm a newbie compared to @TerriRichardson112. I returned to MFP sept 14, 2020, and joined my first UAC for October.
My "I don't want to fail" side, along with UAC, is helping me to try and establish consistent better habits (ie thoughtful eating and including daily exercise). Goal is for these behaviors to become natural.
In past 10 weeks, I have dropped 15.8 lb (153 to 137.2), and this week I am going to attempt a virtual 5K turkey trot. Something I would have never expected to try!
Again welcome, and good luck with your journeys and reach out to other members for support as needed. There are great people here.13 -
Greetings from RangerRickL,
Welcome to the UAC!
I'm happy to be here too. I'm a grandpa; horse lover; and hiker. My principle residence in a farm in NW Illinois in the US. Due to the current pandemic, my wife, Rose and I are located in Phoenix, Arizona.
With the help of all of those who have participated in the Ultimate Accountability Challenge, I get to be accountable too!
Thanks for checking us out. You are welcome to jump into the November UAC to get your momentum going.

Hi there! 👋🏿 Everyone here is inspirational, whether they know it or not. Oh, and super nice. We get along so well, no matter the group composition 🤗
I'm a bilingual Canadian (English/French) who started using MFP back in JAN2020. I started joining this challenge group in OCT2020.
My goal? Maintain my body fat in the low 20% range (or, gulp, high teens) since I've never been able to do that before. Along the way, getting stronger, more flexible and working on mobility improvements are fun bonuses.
I'm in a body recomp phase right now and will likely be in this phase until spring/summer 2021.
Ultimately, I'm here to stay with UAC because this part - the body fat and weight loss - is easier for me. Once the recomp is done, the maintaining may be a heavier mental struggle/commitment to self.
DEC Exercise: Bret Contreras' Strong Curves program, 💃🏿, and random combo training when I'm bored (calisthenics, kettlebells, etc).
DEC Nutrition: Continue hitting my protein macro (40%) at least once a week 😭 Not surpass my carb and/or fat macros more than 3x a week 😪7 -
Gained weight over the past year while distracted from the healthy lifestyle habits that I thought were more engrained. So back to a purposeful healthy lifestyle! I obviously need ongoing accountability and a daily check-in.7

Hi everybody! This is Hulya (Hülya) from Turkey. I am 41 years old and have three kids. December will be my 10th month in the UAC. I have been dealing with the weight problem for 14 years. I tried to lose weight many times and I did it but gained back every time. I knew I had to change my habits and build a new life style. There, the UAC meets my need for accountably with easily doable rules.11

Greetings from sunny South Africa! Looking forward to summer beach days and jumping into the pool with my seals regularly (I work with animals including seals, reptiles and penguins).
I’m in my 40s and train martial arts, specifically Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Due to injuries, donating my kidney and some other issues I was unable to train last year and moved a little above maintenance. I’m nearly back where I was but need to drop a bit lower as I’m not allowed to do weight cuts on one kidney so need to maintain within my fighting weight.
Looking forward to another great month!12 -
Hello everyone! I am new to this group. I am getting married in March. I am a mother to two boys and about to have a bonus son (step son). I am also an animal lover. I have been heavy most of my adult life. I was at 230 and I was able to get to 155. I moved and just didn't care what I ate. Now I'm back at it and more determined than ever to stay accountable. I was at 220 pounds in July and now I am currently at 191. I would like to lose or close to 25 pounds or reduce more of my body fat before my wedding day. Ideally I would like to be at a weight of 135 or dress size 8.
I am looking forward to what I can achieve this next month, and future months.10 -
I started this in a previous month and did ok, but decided to delete MyFitnessPal, since I had already commited to a year of Lose it... well... the additional $$$ was the factor. I only have one month left and I have decided to go ahead and start back with MyFitnessPal... I liked it a lot better than Lose it. I liked this group and want to try it again. I am looking forward to Dec 1st, but I am going to practice until then..lol10

Hello everyone!! I'm from Florida
My name is Teresa, I started this group this month (November). I'm 58 yrs old, I have No children. Was married 36 years got a divorce and for financial reasons we decided to buy a house together.
10 years ago I was on MFP and did awesome, lost it all. Ate right and walked my butt off every day. Since then my Dad passed away, got divorced and fractured my foot. I also found out 1 1/2 years ago I have an eye condition called Blepharospasm ( uncontrollable eyelid spasm) Sun, stress, light, noise can make the spasm excruciatingly intense . To say the least I gained all my weight back and then some. 221 pounds. Since I started back on MFP one month ago I lost 15 pounds.
with the eye condition I am home bound. But I used to Love the outdoors, Tennis, hiking, kayaking, photography, Nature, BUT no longer can do. On a GREAT note I've decided to not give up on life.
I'm thankful for this group

Hello all! I'm new to the group and looking forward to the challenge! Just 31 days on MyFitnessPal so it is all new to me. I was a chubby kid and overweight teen and adult. I have also yoyo dieted since high school. It is all a mind game for me, something I am trying to overcome. The first 2 weeks are wonderful as the weight drops and then the weight stalls and so does my momentum. Portion distortion and the addiction to carbs are my goals to tackle with new habits I learn from MFP. Exercise is not a problem but I can easily talk myself out of it if I'm not challenged or trying to meet a goal. I'm hoping with the challenges and support here I can continue my momentum!!9

Hi everyone! Back for month #24 in a row. Looking forward to it!:)6

Looking forward to seeing all these new "faces" on the Dec 1 page next week! (and all the recurring ones too!)4
-
Keeping this going! I’m usually only event driven to lose weight which is such a bad way to do it! My last goal date event was last weekend. The next one is a cruise in April - the likelihood of it actually happening is pretty slim I imagine - we shall see!4

Hey everyone,
My name is Anano. I am 29 years old and looking to lose quite a sum of weight.
I am new to this group and super excited that I found it. I think that keeping your routine and learning to be accountable to yourself is way more important than what it says on the scale. The weight loss will follow automatically If you follow the set plan right?! So I think these group requirements are quite perfectly thought out.
I am looking forward to Dec 1st, so I can start my daily posts.
Feel free to add me to your friends.
See you in the winner Circle. ♥5 -
I'm Kathy aka Belle. I'm married, have 2 adult children, 67 years old, 5' tall, and am back up to 250 lbs. I've been with MFP since summer 2011 (3142 consecutive days as of today) and had gotten down to about 180 (a loss of 75 lbs. at the time). Now I'm up to my long ago almost highest weight again.
Being the only caregiver to my Mother for the last 2 years of her life took a huge toll on me. I got prescribed a Rx antidepressent by my doctor; that combined with sitting on my behind during that time undid all of my progress. I didn't care what or how much I ate and gained all of the weight back plus some extra for good measure. It's surprising how fast you forget everything you ever learned on MFP.
I used to be a gymnast and gymnastics coach. That kept my weight in check, but it also took a toll on my joints and spine. I acquired osteo arthritis of the neck, spine, hips, and knees. Couple that with scoliosis, multiple "hot spots," and 2 knee surgeries on the same knee, and you get one short, fat, messed up female. I used to like to jump on my trampoline. At the ripe old age of 61 I could still do front and back handsprings, roundoffs, straddle jumps, seat drops, etc. I have a video to prove it! lol
Then my knees REALLY got messed up even more and surgery was recommended again--for both. There was no way I could do that while caring for my mom, so I didn't do it. I've had many injections in multiple places. My treatment for the past year has made a huge difference--my pain management doctor injects my knees with stuff made from rooster combs. Now, I can walk short distances most days without much pain at all! Woohoo!!! It sure beats the excruciating pain from before.
I'm having another injection on 11/30/20; I can get them every 6 months. I've been very happy since May to see such improvement. I'm going to exercise by doing housework most likely, maybe in 10 minute bursts to start. Then I hope to progress to a low impact regimen such as walking a mile or two or riding a bike. Time will tell.
I'd like to get on my trampoline again, just walking or bouncing with 2 legs, but that's going to be a future goal. And I'd love to get below 140 lbs. My adult weight at its lowest was 125 lbs., but that may be too optimistic to get back down that low.
I'm excited to be a part of this group! My thanks go to Mrs. Hoffer for telling her MFP friends about it. She recommends it highly!
Hello everyone!9 -
I did UAC every single month in 2019 and I know 100% that it works for getting to and maintaining a health weight and lifestyle.
How do I know this? Because I thought after over a year of logging and two years of weight loss that I didn’t need to weigh, measure and log. That I didn’t need to check in each day, that I could be accountable to myself without outside motivation.
Geez, boy was I wrong. I’ve gained 17lbs back from the 100 I lost. Time to put the brakes on the gain, time to turn it around the way I know works- UAC. Why struggle alone when I can do this in a supportive place like this group. It’s going to be a bumpy road but I know I can do this.

I'm back for December, as I need a lot of motivation and accountability.3

Hi all,
I'm an old new person to MFP. I used this site years ago to reach and then maintain my goal of a bikini body after kids for 2 years. Unfortunaly I lapsed and over the corse of 5 years have gained every lb back. I welcome the oppertunity to be part of a group that offers a way to hold myself accountable while offering support to others in their goals.

Hey, I'm Stephanie - I've been on MFP "forever". Health and fitness are my personal passions, so much that I am making a career change. I struggle with compliance and consistency, and love motivating others. I am looking forward to participating in the challenge.5

I’m Amber and I just joined the challenge for December.4

Hello everyone, my name is Rob and I look forward to joining this group.
My goal is to get under 200 pounds and maintain it once I get there. Nice to meet you all!2 -
Hi guys, joining UAC again after falling off in mid-november. I have been in the UAC for a while and find that the intentionality of these habits keep me on track, and I have not gained back the 35 lbs I lost 4 years ago.
I still want to loose at least 20 more, though I'm very active with dog walking and tennis, I'm still quite overweight. My goal for December will be to get back to consistency with my boot camp workouts, and to jog once a week. I think that the extra cardio will give me that push.3 -
Hi all,
joining a challenge for the first time as far as I can recall. I've had a MFP account for a while but never really partook in the community aspect of it. I recently took the decision to take a sabbatical with my (retired) wife. We sold everything and are traveling (as far as current restrictions allow) throughout Europe. Not having a job should theoretically free up loads of time to prioritize health and nutrition but that hasn't necessarily been the case in these first few months.
We are both quite active (I go running a few times a week and reached 400k steps in November) but you can't out exercise a poor diet. I was down to about 209lbs in early 2020 thanks to daily HIIT sessions at a well known color coded gym in the US. Being nomadic makes it more challenging to maintain a routine so I've decided to start a 30 day workout challenge using HIIT YouTube videos but (perhaps more importantly) also pay close attention to my food intake. MFP has worked well for me in the past and I am confident it will deliver once again.
Looking for accountability partners on here, my immediate family knows of my intentions but you can never have too many accountability partners. :-)3
