9 days down, the rest of our lives to go

Good morning

Yesterday was a good day for me on most fronts. I did my run and swim and rode 2 of my horses, spending the time to reconnect with them. It was great, but also heartbreaking. Riding and training have been my passion for 20+ years, but over the past couple of years I've sort of given up on reaching my riding goals. There are no trainers in my area to work with, shows are ridiculously expensive and there's a ton of travel involved to compete. Life has gotten in the way and I just haven't had it in me to make the sacrifices necessary to do what I truly love to do. I miss it all so much and feel like I've just given up on my dreams. I don't even know who I am without being emersed in full training and competition mode. Honestly, I feel lost. With that said, part of why I want to lose weight and get fit is so I can hopefully get back to feeling strong, independent and driven towards my goals. To be a better rider and more confident knowing I'm the fit athlete I need to be to jump the big jumps. I don't want to give up. I'm sick of holding myself back from achieving my dreams. So this is where a lot of my motivation comes from. I have pictures of me riding in the past, showing how fit I used to be, pinned up in "my" room. I also have some show ribbons that I'm very proud of and a vision board filled with images that inspire me. Unfortunately, it all just tends to blend into the background and I don't really find much motivation from them. (Thanks for reading my self-guided therapy session. LOL!)

My question to you is this...How are you staying motivated during this journey? What do you do when you notice you may be slacking a little on tracking calories or maybe making excuses for not getting as much movement in as you know you should? I found this image and thought it would be a good thing for me to put in my kitchen. Or maybe have it mark the days down?

Today is a run day. 3.5miles. I will ride 2 horses.
My hubby is home so he'll make some delicious healthy food and I will stick to small portions.
I will keep my goals in mind and remember why I started this journey.

Have a great day!

  • I was under my calorie goal yesterday. My breakfast was not the healthiest, even though it was low cal, and I didn't eat any fruit. My alarm did not go off in the morning so all I had time to do was rush out of the door. / Honestly right now this group is mostly what's motivating me. It is the perfect amount of pressure and non pressure. That and I'm going easy on myself and counting any effort as a win. My passion would be running. I gained back a lot of weight when I couldn't run the way I wanted to because of an ongoing Achilles tendon injury. The thought of being able to do that better and with more energy stamina was what motivated me to eat healthy. To clarify I wasnt really good at it just really enjoyed it. 😅 So I completely understand 3greyhourses your feeling lost without fully pursuing your passion. ❤ Today I'm going to:
    - stay under my calorie goal
    - eat a vegetable and fruit
    - drink 32oz of water
    - walk
    - stay active cleaning and getting things done.

I agree with @Katebook309yahoocom940, this group is keeping me motivated right now. It is a nice balance of support and keeping it simple.
@3greyhorses - love your visual image of moving the lbs. Great idea.

Didn't post yesterday but stayed on track
    Today I am going to:
    - Log all my calories and stay under goal
    - Go for a walk
    - Deliver turkey dinners for the Y

    Have a great day everyone!

@3greyhorses that's exactly how I feel about my deepest passion, writing. Fortunately there really is no age limit on enjoying either of our passions. Yes more fitness will definitely help you with yours, and more discipline will help both of us. Anyway stay strong and keep pushing yourself up!

@Katebook309yahoocom940 counting any effort as a win, yes! Whatever works for you!! 🌈 Keep it up!

@tinacuso good job! Keep going 🤓🤓

I got my bike ride in yesterday, and was going to take a walk too, but 5 mins into our walk i found this little guy crying in a field on the side of the road. Took him home and will be bringing him to a foster tomorrow 😻😻

Decided to only run 1 mile today and do 3 tomorrow since my hubby said he'd run with me in the morning. I did ride 2 of my horses and it was awesome <3
