Regardless of whether you say, "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas" or something different, we can all take a moment to be grateful for something!
As we end this year of wide-spread difficulty and loss, there is always something to be grateful about...

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? yes but it was rainy all morning so I actually ran after lunch which is totally outside my norm. I ended up taking a nap before so it fooled my body into thinking it was morning. LOL

God Bless you all and Have a wonderful Holiday & Merry Christmas to those who celebrate🎅🏼🎄9 -

Personal Bonus: Did I meet my protein macro for the day (min 40%)? NO | ?% (2 out of 16 days)
Pass Days used: (DEC11)(DEC14)
I know I won't meet my macros today BUT it'll be under my base for sure which is fine because this is supposed to be a real rest day. So far I've had coffee, 2 soft boiled eggs and my fav donut (an old fashioned, no icing from Tim Hortons... don't judge me 😋). The day's been full of unexpected and not so delightful events but I've been with my two all-too-soon-to-adulting kids the entire time.
My kids, and being entrusted by God to steward them to the best of my ability - however flawed or fantastic in the moment - are the reasons I'm always grateful.6 -

Even with today being my youngest son's birthday. Everything with moderation.
Doing some meal prep for this week. Christmas eve is not being planned out because we are going to my in laws.
Some of this may change but this is what my menu is going to be like (mostly) for the next twelve weeks.
Breakfast: egg whites and oatmeal with fruit
Mid morning snack: sweet potato, tuna, pecans
Lunch: chicken salad or egg salad
Afternoon snack: whey protein, 2 tbsp peanut butter, and half a banana
Dinner: salmon with creamy lemon sauce, or chicken, with broccoli and salad with balsamic
I shouldn't be afraid to lift heavy. I just have to get out of my head. Your brain will quit faster than you will. Lifting heavy means muscle growth, will help me burn body fat, reduce my risk of osteoporosis, back pain and arthritis.

I'm grateful that my loved ones are alive, that we followed distancing and mask-wearing, that I've stuck to this challenge for months, and that I continuously challenge my body. Grateful for this group!7 -
I'm grateful that today, I was able to ride a lovely horse in the early afternoon, and hike with a new young friend in the late afternoon. In addition, I was passed on that hike by Lyle, who is 85 years old and an inspiration.
Calories: under my limit
Exercise: over 2.5 hours today. It was fun but I'll probably be a bit sore tomorrow
Tracking: yes, and I needed that!!5 -

Though I know weight numbers are not the primary focus for us here in the UAC, I want to share that for November (a fairly challenging calorie month) I managed to get rid of 7.2 pounds, and for the October Challenge another -5.0. I am now weighing slightly less than October 2019, which seems like a miracle. Target weight is in sight (129-130 – weight at my nephew’s May 2019 wedding) and doable in the next couple months. I am grateful for the results. Also notable for the November UAC, I entered and walk/ran a virtual 5K. I looked at the results and I came in 154/357 for total entries, 87/234 female, and 19/87 over 50 female. I would have been happy if I even came in last, because I entered. Being in the top 50% is super motivating even though I know this kind of race is not full of competitive runners.
So now for my December UAC. I am starting by raising my daily target calories by 50, and will be re-evaluating this every 10 days, as I want to start easing into my eventual maintenance calories. I don’t want to get go from lower calories to higher calories in a single day. I will be trying my best for the Winner’s circle, but need to be realistic and will at least commit to showing up daily and aiming to be a champion and aim to clean off 2 more pounds during December. Then, during my next 9 days in the Keys, I plan to walk/run to Sombrero Beach and even try to get you a sunrise photo (will take some planning ) and get back home. Google maps claims the distance is 3.3 miles each way. At for the rest of the month, my brain can only cope with planning til the 12th. Will regroup again once up north again.
BTW in November, I did not opt for eating back my “exercise” calories like I had planned. My problem with the method of eating back each day’s exercise calories is that that calorie number not compatible with advance planning and tracking, and I like to plan and pre-track my days. So this is the reason I am going try upping my planned daily calories instead and that way I can continue with the pre-tracking that works well for me.
Here we go!

*** MFP considers me under my calories for the day, but I am still currently not eating back exercise calories. So, Pass #1 used, but worth it – Oysters Rockefeller, and dinner of Seared scallops over Succotash with asparagus and a bacon ju. Lovely meal – no drinks or dessert. Ironic part is I was hungry by the time I got home. Speculating is that I will not make the winner’s circle this month, but still going to keep it in mind cause you never know.

Macros were not great, but calories stayed under goal!!

Just when I’m sure the silly season can’t get any more chaotic, my colleague gets sick 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ At least it’s not COVID and she is back home and wants to come back to work. I’m trying to convince her to take 3 days to recover from severe gastro that ended up in hospital. She is going away next week and there is little medical help in the area she is going so I don’t want her to push too hard this week and get sick again while she is away. I can handle without her as there are other staff to help. I’ll skip my off day but we are on short days and I’m healthy so I can do a longer session with the knowledge that I have 3 weeks off afterwards.
Aside from that, I started my day with yoga, abs and shoulders and that was my planned exercise for rest day. Of course I still had work but active job is normal for me. I did jump in the pool with the seal puppy because it was hot and I can! We are not allowed on the beach due to COVID for three weeks (well, I have a permit to go if there are stranded marine mammals, but no swimming or socialising etc). I offered to look after a friend’s dogs while they go away and yesterday discovered that they have a pool which I can use! The dogs will see me more than I originally planned!!!
My food choices were ok and under budget.
I’m grateful for my health. Even without COVID I’m seeing so many friends struggle with various health issues and it makes me grateful that my body is in good condition. The people I’m dog sitting for were very surprised yesterday when I went to get keys and we were chatting (I train Jiu Jitsu with one of the teenage girls but don’t really know the rest of the family). I made some comment about how my broken arm took longer to heal last year because of my age and they responded that I’m not that old. I told them I am 42, but I don’t act my age. They said I don’t look it either, which is the second time recently that someone said that. It’s nice to get compliments like that.6 -
Ate well and logged but nothing I can call exercise. I did spend a couple of hours plowing snow, but don't think that counts. Oh well, this is what the pass days are for, my first this month.5

I'm grateful for my husband, who goes to work in a hospital M-F. He's in IT and has to go everywhere. He got an extremely mild case of COVID in June. But since then, he has turned 65,
and refuses to go to the COVID floor. His helper does that now.
And I'm grateful for those he works with, too, especially those actively helping to keep people alive. I know what it's doing to them all, but they keep going anyway.6 -

I walked with my boys, cleaned a bit and did a 30 min tabata + abs workout. What a good night's sleep can do! 😃 In fact, the more I sleep, the more I seem to need it 😁. Almost 200 cal left, just about to cover possible innacuracies in logging. 😃4
