I think in a normal year with holiday parties and family gatherings I probably wouldn't have kept within the 3 passes.
For the month of January my goal is to use no passes. Happy New Year everyone!13 -

Awesome goal @LazyBlondeChef, good luck with it all!5 -
Happy new year everyone! 2020 was the year my baby was born so despite the horrible pandemic it still worked out to be the best year of my life. (God bless all the souls that tragically lost their lives to this horrible virus)Wishing u all a happy healthy 2021!12

Awesome performance from all those who persevered. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻7 -
Earlier this week, I came across a thread asking about ones goals for 2021 and ones reasons behind it. I saw it a couple days in a row before thinking "why not". While it was a good exercise to put my thoughts in order, it was a little awkward posting personal thoughts in such a public venue. Anyhow, its out there, and I hope to have no regrets. Today, being the New Year, I thought I would share these thoughts with my friends.
Here it goes:
"2020 and the year of COVID has taught me what I should have realized before. It made me see that for my own success, I need independence and personal accountability. In the past, I belonged to WeightWatchers to control my weight, and went to the gym to motivate my exercise. If anything interfered, then that was the reason for weight to increase or exercise to be forgotten.
This year, COVID magnified this flaw. With shutdowns activated, and six and a half months of comfort eating and Netflix while waiting it all out, I had added 10 lbs to my upward creeping weight. Mid-September, I think the "no end in sight" finally spurred me into action. I got active on MFP. I committed to track both the good and the bad, and, through the MFP Community, I found and joined Challenges that connected me with like minded people, and reinforced my growing focus and motivation. As 2020 ends, my dairy tracking and fitness are better and more consistent than when I was depending upon WW and the gym, and I can see how this path, supported by MFP, will lead to better health - plus it is flexible and portable to boot.
Goals for 2021
- Complete my weight loss journey (20+ lbs down since September, and 4 and 8 lbs to goal)
- Embrace maintenance, which is much less exciting than weight loss
- Remain active in the MFP Challenge Groups, and both accept and offer support
- Expand my self-reliant fitness options by adding body weight and/or dumbbell training workouts
- Continue daily food journaling
- Improve my hydration - my biggest downfall, and have been admonished by at least three doctors
- Stop saying "When I grow up I'll (fill in the blank)". At 59, that excuse is getting old.
I am excited for 2021, and the good that I hope it will bring."18 -
Again, congratulations to everyone in the Winner's Circle. It's always a significant accomplishment, but IMO, even more so for the month of December. What a way to end 2020!
Congratulations, also, to all of us Champions. Continuing to be accountable and accept the "less good" days is so very important to being able to make this a long term commitment. Thanks for staying and sharing!
@RangerRickL I love today's quote about excellence. I should put that on my wall. Also, thank you for creating and maintaining this group. It has been so helpful to me and is helping me to reframe myself. That ongoing support and accountability is so key for me.
@lazyblondchef congrats! If I recall, this is your first UAC. Congrats on choosing to first join for a challenging month instead of "waiting until the New Year". Even better, congrats on making Winner Circle!
@donna25trinity Congrats on your 2020 baby! 2020 also made me a grandma. 2020 has been a special year in its own way!11 -
@SModa61
I am glad you shared your thoughts and it caused me to stop and think I don’t have my thoughts in order yet to share but I think some of the points you made are valid especially you are in control. I like to think that I am in control of the kayak I am paddling are my strokes smooth or am I fighting the shore? I am in control and I will succeed. Thanks for making us all think a little harder where we want to be and that it’s up to us and our support team to get there. UAC is part of my support team.9 -

@snowshoe072 Glad there was value to my post, and you will inspire me to eventually embrace those kayaks my husband and I bought for Florida. So far they are making me crazy - though I have heard that there are lessons. I made need them.5 -
Happy New Year!
This is my first UAC EVER, and my goal for January is NO pass days. I want to prove to myself that I CAN do it, and I’m serious about it 🙂11 -
My goal for January is to
1) get the courage to jump on my new scale
2) plan for losing 6+ lbs by month end

Hello everyone! This is my first UAC and I'm super excited. My goal for January is consistency so I'm aiming for no pass days this month. Wishing everyone success on their goals.11

We have the same goal of no pass days, and this is our first UAC! Hopefully we can encourage each other!
Good luck!7 -
Congrats to the winners and fellow champions and welcome to the newbies.
I’m back on track today as planned. Exercise was a morning run (which went well enough to reevaluate my goals) and then walk home as well as my daily 10 minutes of yoga and 5 core exercises. I intend to do that 15 minutes every day!
Food was good and aside from finishing a cup of soda I had forgotten about, I’m on track with my two weeks no unhealthy treats plan. For all logged and under budget (I don’t use exercise calories as I budget them under a tdee goal. I prefer having a consistent amount available and it works for me.)
My old dog had a rough night so I spent a lot of time reading near him. He may not be around much longer to spend time with.

Oh @Dory_42 it's hard when our best friends are failing. Is that Hobbes I see on your arm?
@SModa61 Looking forward to you joining the ranks of maintainers this year. It can be a bit rocky at first but I have to say after 3+ years for me it's actually kind of fun to experiment with looking at things longer term and of course having your clothes fit!
@globalhiker you can do it! 6 is a lot to try to lose in a month tho so don't be too rough on yourself.
And congrats to everyone who stuck around in Dec! Welcome to new folks and welcome back new friends.

Happy new year all and congrats to those in the winners circle....amazing to do that in December!
Starting strong with three yeses today- exercise was 20 minutes on my stationary bike (which is rehab for my knee which is recovering from surgery last month) and a gentle walk for 20 minutes. I love to exercise, and putting up with an injury and not being able to do any for months has been tough. Hoping that through January it will keep improving! Well done everyone so far!4 -
Today is a day I’ve been aiming towards for the past 5 years.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I began my journey 1/1/16 @ 228.3lbs
I hit normal BMI 166 July 2018.
I’ve lost more & maintained the past 2.5 years.🥗, averaging 157-154.4 per year.
I gained 5 lbs in 2019 & I worked hard to lose those 5 lbs in 2020!!! Yay!
This is a complete miracle - after many attempts over my lifetime. I am Very grateful to UAC, @ @RangerRickL, the Building Healthy Habits group, Noom, & my very supportive husband. After I maintained, he was inspired to shift his habits & now is maintaining a normal BMI, 38 lbs down.❤️
Thank you🎉 & Happy New Year!!🎶
And... I was in the Champions Circle this month congratulations to all who persevered❣️7
