Today's workout was an NSV for me -- I ran my 9th half-marathon. What should have been this race was cancelled in March due to COVID. As in-person races are still not back, I figured why not finally get it done and do a virtual race? So that's what I did! It was tough as there were no crowds to inspire me or co-racers to keep me going. But my amazing husband showed up on my route randomly holding signs from past races, made me an incredible running mix that kept me pumped, and presented me with my medal at the end, so it was great!
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Half-marathon -- 13.1 incredibly tough miles
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes and under - I can't physically eat all those calories back! LOL
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yep!8 -

We had sushi takeout tonight and after doing a lot of "research" it seems nigiri sushi is rather caloric. Plus we had nigori sake so it's hard to say what my calories were but it appears that the entire meal was about 1000 calories. Given that I still have one more snack this evening I think it's impossible that I'll stay within my limits. I typically eat two meals per day plus one late night snack because I'm a night owl and usually don't go to bed until 3-4am. I feel a little sad about using the pass since I had a pretty decent workout today.
Another NSV is that it is obvious to me that I am in better spirits when I do a proper workout.
Re insurance perks from yesterdays thread ... My insurance will pay 100% for up to 12 dietician visits per year. I'm currently taking advantage of that perk. If you have that benefit you might find it worth using.3 -

@corriepelc What a SWEETHEART of a hubby you have! This made me smile and clap my hands! Then I read your post to my hubby and he just smiled. Lol. Kudos to YOU for running your half marathon in spite of not having a crowd to cheer you on or other runners. I can't imagine 13.1 incredibly tough miles by myself. Wow.

After sitting on my behind for years, taking care of my terminally ill Mother, I went to pot. <no, not THAT kind!>
My NSV is that I can walk further now without gasping for air. Also, thanks to my orthopedist's treatments to my knees, hips, and various other parts of my body, I am able to walk slowly without pain. Therefore, I'm going to shoot for 1/4 mile walk outside every Mon., Wed., and Fri. to start with and see how it goes. My goal is to walk 1/4 mile for a week, then 1/2 for a week, etc., working up to a 1 mile walk for a month and see how my endurance and joints hold up.
@Dory_42 My thoughts and prayers are with you and your beloved dog.8 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes! 30 min Athleanx and 15 min heavy bag. Pretty intense workout today. Makes up for my sloth day yesterday.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? 600 calories under but hit my protein goal for the day.
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? I did 👍👍
So much easier to hit my goals on the weekends. I've got to force myself to make time during the week.

During the last 72 hours, both my wife Rose and I have been dealing with the death of her beloved Uncle Gene. He was healthy and fit for 88 of his 89 years. Over the last year he has been declining due to cancer. He lived well and is survived by two children. We have been helping with moving furniture, assisting his children and emotional support.
I’ve had all 3 yes days during the last 3 days.

Yes, yes, and yes. Just barely on the exercise, but I did make it. A good day.
My NSV list is quite long, losing over 200 lbs and getting to your goal weight will do that for you. One I was thinking about today was that it felt good to have legs that no longer rub together! Kind of a minor one in the big picture, but one I was thinking about today.9 -

Start weight, January 1, 2021: 132.0December 1, 2020 – 135.6
November 6, 2020 – 140.8
October 2, 2020 – 147.8
September, 14, 2020 – 153.0
My calorie rule for January UACDefining, for myself more than anything, what is the definition of my daily calorie goal. For Oct and Nov, I used 1430 and not eating back exercise. December, I raised that to 1480 with no additional calories for exercise. For January, I am going to try a blended rule; either Food calories under 1480, or Net calories (ie Food minus exercise) under 1200. So, if my exercise burns less than 280 on a given day, there is no added calories. BUT, if I exercise more, I have the option additional food OR if I overeat, I have the option of exercising more to not use a pass day. This flexibility was not something I allowed in my previous rounds. Once I exceeded my goal calories, regardless of my exercise burn. Also, I am defining that I am using the MFP estimate for the caloric burn from exercise. I know I could get different numbers elsewhere, but I am going to use only the one source – good or bad.Date: 1/1

@corriepelc - congrats on the half marathon! So sweet of your hubby to support you like that. I LOVE that distance and use it for an excuse to travel. Last April should have been my 22nd (?) but it was also cancelled. I ran 3 virtual halfs just to stay out there but then realized I was paying someone to run where I run on a regular basis so stopped. We're hoping we can travel this April and I'll run the one I was supposed to run last year. If we're not comfortable flying, we're debating about driving the 1600 miles.
@alligatorob - 200 pounds? That's amazing! Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment.
@RangerRickL - it's so hard to lose people that are important to us and impact our lives. Condolences to you and your wife.

Bravo to you! Cheer up, let it go, get back to the grind!
@Dory_42 I am so sorry to hear the doggie is not doing well still! It also sucks that the vet is closed until Monday! It is tough to wait when it concerns our beloved pets, our family! My prayers and thoughts for a good outcome!
@Chinkir Welcome to the group, or should say welcome back! I was not in the group when you last were! My name is Gina. Welcome! I just wanted to point out that your post was VERY inspiring! You are out of town, healthy food choices are scarce, but you managed to choose an option that was pretty darn healthy and tried to calculate calories best as you could! I am PROUD of you!
@Bovaryoo Sorry that you are experiencing Vertigo! I, too, have had Vertigo! If one has not had it, I don't wish it on anyone! Praying that yours doesn't last too long and you can get back to your normal self!
I just got some spare time today while the hubby is out at the barn ( not an actual barn, but a huge pull barn where he builds hotrods and is doing some work on our new hotrod), and I can spend some time reading your posts and commenting on them. I do read ALL posts eventually, but I don't always get the time that day to do so! Commenting on posts also helps me practice my writing skills. My dream to become a published author someday! I also would LOVE to add more of you to my friend's list! I seem not to know how to do this very well! So if you do, want to be friends also, can you please send me the request?
@ginadomaszewicz thanks so much for your support and understanding. Just wat i needed to hear!1 -
