Hi ladies!
Yesterday ended up being fairly unproductive. The weather is just not cooperating with my pans! I didn't ride or run. The snow turned into rain and wind and now it's an icy mess. My food intake was decent though so that's good. It's so hard to figure out calories on the weekends because my husband cooks. Last night he made some kind of delicious veggie pie. Just a bunch of veggies baked into a simple pie crust. Nothing really fattening in it. I had oatmeal for breakfast and a big salad for lunch and the only snacks I had were veggies and a couple of apples.
As my hubby was cooking dinner I decided to measure out some snacks. I've been wanting to add more protein into my diet and as a vegan, I rely a lot on beans and nuts. I usually count out the nuts and go with the estimated amounts of calories on the packages. Last night I decided to actually weigh them out. Oh.My.God! They are so high in calories for such a tiny amount! Here's a pic of one serving of nuts at 170 calories compared to 3 containers of veggies that have fewer calories combined. It was a good visual and something I've seen in pictures before, but for some reason it really hit me when doing it myself. It was a real eye opener and I will definitely be choosing my snacks more wisely from here on out!!

Today is going to be laid back and I may or may not exercise. I will track calories though and make good choices!!!
Also, my 70 year old mom who lives alone in her apartment 1350 miles away from me, her only child, tested positive for COVID yesterday. She says she feels ok, but I can hear the fear in her voice. I am scared too. Please keep her in your thoughts. I feel so bad for her being alone and scared and I feel helpless to do anything.

@3greyhorses It's tough being so far away from elderly parents and not being able to do anything. Hope your mom gets better soon.
My husband loves to eat nuts too. He has started watching what he eats and is working on losing weight. He recently started splitting up the container of nuts into separate portions and he is always shocked how such a small serving is for so many calories.
Today will be another quiet day for me. Goals today are to get water in and to stay within my calories. I'm going to do some stretching today, wearing the walking boot I am so lopsided and I can tell that my body is trying to compensate. My doctor suggested I purchase a pair of Danskos so that my left side could be even with my right foot that is in the walking book, the Danskos are coming in tomorrow.4 -
@3greyhorses Hope your mom's okay🙄
I did not make my water goal yesterday but otherwise did well I think. I confirmed that Im not a fan of Greek yogurt after buying it for a recipe.
Goals for today:
- drink 32 oz of water
- eat a fruit and veg
- maybey do some cleaning today and do more regular exercise tomorrow since I have the day off.3 -
Hi Ladies,
Happy Sunday. I have been MIA since the beginning of the holidays and I decided to get back on track. Dealing with some personal issues and just couldn't add this. However, thanks for the support as this group was very helpful.
@3greyhorses - Hope you and your Mom are doing OK. It is hard being so far apart. Also, thanks for the visual! I love nuts and know they are high in calories but look how much food you can eat for the same calories!!
Goals for today:
- Get a walk in
- drink 32 oz of water
- log all my calories
- get back to working on my curtains!2 -
@3greyhorses always good to be honest and realistic so we can adjust accordingly

I hate to be all happy and sunshine when I know you have some crappy weather, but check out this beach we swam at yesterday!!

I had a fabulous day yesterday with my friends visiting, but I went WELL over on calories. Totally worth it, no regrets, but I do want to get back on track again today. No work today (except a bit of prep at some point) so no excuses not to have a great day.
Plus, my friend left a super nice mountain bike for me to play with for a while, so I want to take it out for a spin today
Goals today-- bike ride, walk, under on cals
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone

Sorry to hear about your mom @3greyhorses . It’s not easy to have parents a plane trip away (or several, like mine) especially now when we can’t travel without worrying. Hope all the best for her, and for you.
Yesterday I went for a 2 miles walk (planned for 3 and cut it short) and today I already went for a 4 miles one. I feel sooo good .
I’m elbows deep in “A million little things” on Hulu, so I “have” to run. Take care, y’all and have a nice Sunday!4 -
Catching up on all your posts. I read up to Wednesday's weigh in.
@3greyhorses – Thanks for this article “ 10 Motivation Ideas For Achieving The Weight Loss Goal Easily”
They were really good visuals.
@MrsAcyprus2015- Glad you are so close to your pre-Christmas weight!
@taxgirl1 – So sorry to hear about your foot. I hope you are not in pain.
@rayonrainbows - Thanks so much for the beach picture and the sunshine. It has been so grey here and everyone is depressed!!. Glad you had a great day with your friends!
@GabiV125 – I love “A Million Little Things” I can’t wait until it resumes.
Have a great day!3 -
I didn't really do much today, but I did manage to go for a quick ride. He felt really good and thought it would be fun to run off with me! I've had a lot of experience riding much faster and more athletic horses than him and just laugh at his antics

Oh, and I completely agree with @tinacuso! We need more beach pics @rayonrainbows
