Turkey and 3 bean chili with homemade guac on the menu this evening.

Would have had the best night's sleep in a long time if it wasn't for an attack of bilateral thigh cramps around midnight. Usually it is calf cramps. Kind of weird. Must have been a combination of dehydration and slogging through snow when training dogs yesterday. Wish I had taken my snowshoes.

Steve, love the analogy of herding cats. Someone made a Super Bowel commercial involving cowboys herding cats a long time ago and it still makes me chuckle.

My DW handles most of our tax stuff, with the help of a CPA.

I checked out Zenni, Mike. I might give it a go with a pair of sport glasses. How long do they take to get to you after ordering?

Bob, I have never XC skied. Downhill yes.

Bill, you will get there. Yosemite must be another kind of beautiful with snow.

    DMIL back today, Sam?

    Be OP ;-)

    Morning.

Snowshoed 3 hours yesterday. Followed xc-ski tracks awhile but then only the unbroken trail, which surprisingly had tracks of a coyote or fox for long stretches. How do they know where the trail is? Bordered a frozen beaver pond and a snow dappled stream part way, very scenic.

Bob, winter overnight trek around Crater Lake sounds really cool to do.

Zennis took several weeks first time, but second order only a week I think. Need to make sure you understand the sizing and Rx instructions and follow carefully. I got the pupil distance thing backwards first time...

Supposed to snow later, 3-5", downgraded from 4-8".

    Good morning gentlemen.

No special food plans for the game. Timing isn't as good for Super Bowl eating, on the West Coast. Probably just see what's in the freezer. Pulling for KC; can't stand the TB coach. Besides, I have a Chiefs connection, through Steve.

I am being ordained as a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church USA, today. The ceremony was actually recorded, over Zoom, a couple days ago, but it will be part of this morning's virtual service. So now I am committed to three years of multiple evening committee meetings every month. What was I thinking?

    Good Morning,
Dave, learned long ago 9% are required to do 90% of work for any church or organization to survive.
I could never figure out pupil markings where I could order from Zinni
God does love me, no DMIL today; don't know when they are going to bring her back

    Good Morning!

    Chiefs!!!

I like football, but I would not consider myself a rabid fan. I can just as easily skip the game as watch it. I will likely watch large segments of tonight's game, however. I will be cheering for the Chiefs, of course. Pitchers and catchers report soon, right?

I gained .3 pound this past week. That is my first gain of the year. I am down 6.1 pounds for the year. Noom is still working for me, I recognize that it could be sodium, water intake, sleep, stress, or other factors affecting my weight this week. I did eat a few more calories this week, as well. I'll continue with the plan this next week, and get back on track.

Dave, I was an elder once in an American Baptist Church, and I was also chair of the diaconate once. To do either of those positions well requires a large time, and a large prayer commitment. I know that you will do awesome work for the Lord, and that you will excel with this honor and opportunity.

It is buttasscold this morning. I believe Lee described that one time as 15 degrees. I'm looking at the thermometer now, and it says 4. It was very cold when I took the dog out. I even had on my electric heated gloves. We have about two inches of snow on the ground that I have to clear from the driveway. We are expecting light snow today, and heavier snow tomorrow. We are expecting highs in the single digits to low teens and lows at or below zero for at least the next week. Stupid polar plunges!

    Virtual church at 11:00.

    Have a great day!

    Question for the group.

I have been seeing the same MD for over 20 years now. In that time, his practice has changed from a small town practice to being a part of a large hospital system in town. I feel like a number and not a patient. To get a refill on meds is a hassle, and I don't feel like I am being heard when I go in for a visit.

I am thinking about changing docs. Has anyone in this group gone virtual? United Health Care is plugging virtual visits. I like the convenience, but I don't know if I will still just be a number, or if I might end up with a doctor that I will have again for a while. I get how it works in theory, but I don't get how they can take my BP, or order labs, for example. I do know that we have several labs nearby that I could take a script to.

Again, I was just curious. Thanks!

    Good Morning

I ditched the NFL a few years back so no issues today. My back was a mess again yesterday so I powered thru a few more workshops at the Dulcimer Festival, rested and treated my back. Just the final concert today. The rest of the day will be more back love and practicing some of the things I learned and taking care of DW. I will play standing for a bit. Christmas boxes will once again have to wait.

Steve, both of us have done quite a few virtual doc visits. The are quite convenient I found. The technology is often an issue. Different apps. Drs still keep you waiting. The rarely occur on schedule. We have also gone in when necessary. The minus for me is the disconnect from the front office for scheduling adapts and such. For me the big issue is my Drs practice has grown quite a bit these last few years. I have to remind of conditions I have

Steve, I haven't had "my doctor" for 44 years - since I enlisted in the Army. I am in the ultimate managed-care program, now. I have had a number of telephone appointments. They are great for going over the results of labs or as follow-ups on some condition. However you see the doc, it is important to stand up for yourself. If you don't think they are listening, put your foot down.
