    Good Morning!

Today is President's Day, but I will be working. I still don't have the year end closed, but hope to get there this week.

This morning, it was -8 with -21 windchill when I took the dog out. We set a record low for today, and a record for the most days in a row (8) in which the high never got above 20. A couple of more days of this. Tonight could break the all-time record for KC at -23 actual temp. We also got a couple of inches of snow yesterday, so traffic will be iffy this morning.

I tried a new recipe last night. It was a total fail. I don't have too many of those, thankfully.

Connie and I had a quiet day yesterday. Didn't get the car out at all.

    Have a great day!

Never have seen -23º. It was -19º one Christmas morning back in the 70's. I went out to start the car to take the family to church, and got so cold just fumbling with the keys I turned around and went back inside for the day.

Freezing rain missed us yesterday, but tonight and tomorrow expecting severe ice storm. Was hoping for snow.

Have never cooked pickerel, we always throw them back, very bony but supposed to be tasty. Had pike once in VT, one guy cooked for lunch on gas grill on the ice-covered lake we fished, together with rice and peppers and onions.

My weight seems to be creeping up instead of down.

    Mornin' gents.

Steve, that is beyond BAC. Ouch.

My fennel and garlic stuffed pork loin wasn't a fail, but it was far from perfect. Cooking temp and time needs tweaking.6yz5tkbx14hd.jpg

    Be OP ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

We had leftover pork adobo for supper. I cooked green beans. Both were great :D

Thankfully, the snow is over. It will be a while before it all melts, though. We ended up with 16 inches, in the back yard. Fortunately, we had some wind, too. That cleared much of the load off the trees, so they weren't weighed down when the rain started - few downed power lines.

The main roads are all clear, now, so we can venture out in the car for the first time since Wednesday. We only have one more day's supply of coffee beans.

    Good Morning!

That looks good Lee. I haven't had much luck with stuffed Pork Loin. I don't cut it quite right and overcook it. It might need a low and slow approach. I am now tempted to try again this week.

We had a wonderful day yesterday with a picnic and then a "hike" of 10 minutes. It was good to be on a trail that wasn't paved or covered in crushed rock. The one thing we miss is being able to hike in the Sierras. It helps motivate me to stick to the plan to rehab the leg and get the back strong again. Off to get my first Covid vaccination this afternoon near Oakland, a blessing of my age. Heather qualifies but there isn't enough vaccine in the system yet to start vaccinating teachers and childcare workers. But things seem to improve week to week. A huge mass vaccination center is getting to ready to open 2-3 miles down the road at the Fairgrounds.

    Good Afternoon,
We get our second vaccine next Monday
Went out for Valentines last night, ate way too much sodium weight up today
Going to Presidents Day dinner tonight, limited to 50 folks because of COVID; last year we had 278, it was also an election year.
We just have cold rain, no snow or ice
Large yoga class this morning, guess folks figure most older are getting vaccine
Stay safe Steve, hope you get YE completed this week, remember stress from month, quarter and year-ends.
