Icy roads here this morning. Church later, then the hike with DS; doing a less used trail up Mt. Wachusett if the road to it is plowed. Didn't go yesterday as the weather turned rainy.
Bill, hope DW gets some relief... and yourself, too.
Time to make some coffee...

Good morning gentlemen.
Hope you both get some relief, Bill. This has gone on too long.
We made it to 50, yesterday, but it was windy and still felt cold. The increased daylight has brought out the first flowers, though. Heather, primroses and crocuses are all blooming. Daffodils will be next. They're all harbingers of spring. I need to buy dormant oil to spray our apple trees.
I am getting back into knife making, I think. I want to make another small forge to harden blades and grind out a knife or two. Something different to fill my time.0 -
Good Morning!
Mike, enjoy your hike.
Dave, that sounds cool with the knife making. I have had an interest in working with metal, but have never pursued it. What you are describing sounds really interesting and fun.
Connie and I enjoyed a nice day yesterday for her birthday. We drove to St. Joseph, MO, which is about an hour north of us. We needed that little break.
Virtual church this morning, and back to chores and things. I will also find a little time to get my camera out, and take a short drive in the truck.
Have a great day!0 -
Mornin' gents.
Ugh. So sorry about Heather's need for a nerve block. Prayers for a speedy resolution.
(((knives)))) Love the damascus style blades.
Be OP ;-)0 -
LOL, Lee. I am not forging blades, so no Damascus patterns. I have some high-carbon stock I cut and grind a blade from, using a cheap little belt grinder and some files, then heat treat it in a homemade forge, using a mapgas torch for the flame. A quench in canola oil gives the required hardness, then a temper cycle in the oven, to keep it from being brittle. I made a half dozen knives a few years ago, including stitching up leather sheaths. Fun projects.0

Good Morning
Sounds impressive Dave. There will be pictures I hope?
We had a wonderful day yesterday over in Berkeley picking up lunch at a favorite spot, taking a very short meander and driving up in Tilden Park in the Berkeley Hills to eat and rest. We came down the backside to one of the reservoirs and did our non-stop 10 minute walking along the water before and headed home to rest and exercise. No damage done. Today we each have a couple things scheduled so we will be homebound as Springtime weather continues.0 -
Hope all continues toward improvement for Bill and Heather
We should get into upper 70's today
Dave, continue to amaze me
Steve, glad you and Connie had a good day
So we should know in a couple of weeks if Babe is going to give Lee some grandpups
Continuing to improve0
