Hi folks. Back in for June. Welcome to our returnees and newcomers, and a thousand thanks to our leader, @RangerRickL for helping us stay accountable.
I’m Terri from Northern Ireland. Back for my 32nd month. Still working on improving my fitness and health. Made the Winners Circle 31 times so far.
UAC is a good place for anyone to start practicing new habits in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Through being a member, I have achieved my lowest weight in 4 decades, and have maintained it since late 2019.
Just a few details on my personal journey to health and fitness.
Aim for 2021 ~ maintain around 145 (I may even manage to drop a little more! 😂 ✅WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED
I am FOCUSED on heathy food choices and
DETERMINED to achieve my goals!
Age: 75: Height 5’2”; Female
SW: 227lbs (Mar 2014)
LW: 142.2 (Mar 2021)
UGW: 140 (this may change when I get there 😂 )
CW: < 145- Initially, dropped down to around 165, and stayed about there until late 2018.
- Set new goal in 2019 to drop to 155.
- Reset it to 150 in March 2020
- reset it to 145 in September 2020
- My ideal situation is to maintain < 150
- I use CI/CO and a variety exercise for extra calories.
- Logic would suggest that I have found a natural comfortable weight, and, according to Smart BMI calculation, I am in the upper range of normal for my age and height. However, logic doesn't always dictate our desires and feelings. 😂
- Getting and staying healthy and fit requires the development of a permanent lifestyle reset.
- Replacing unhelpful habits with more useful ones is key to to the process.
- Losing weight is only one of the elements.
- Eating healthy and staying actively is not OPTIONAL, but an ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts on weight which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be several lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a permanent lifestyle change for most people.

Hello. I just signed up ready to start June 1st. First time in the group. Was wondering how do ypu log a bit? Can't really get faloroes for a lick..lol does that even count..?
It really depends on how big a lick you can take 😂😂😂
For example, my other half always groans when I ask for a lick of his ice cream. I once managed to remove most of the one scoop he had in his cone 😂😂😂
Seriously, though, you need to be aware that every single nibble, sip and lick of food has calories, so should be accounted for, otherwise they could sabotage your efforts.
If you want advice, ask questions. Someone will always answer.3 -
Hi.. I noticed several groups inside this big group for this challenge.. where do we sign in everyday here or somewhere else? Thank you1

Hi all. I’m Maryann. This will be my 6th month doing UAC. My 5th month was plagued by a dreaded weight loss plateau that I’m hoping to leave in the dust in June. I’m stuck at 64lbs lost, and I’m really hoping to hit 75lbs lost by my 38th birthday on 7/25. Fingers crossed.5

Hi everyone, this is my 3rd or 4th (maybe 5th?) time using MFP 1st time with UAC. Basic stats: 61yo, 5'2", SW 184 lbs, CW 171 lbs. GW 130 lbs.
When I had my physical a couple months ago my doctor asked if I'd like to join the Veterans Health Administration's Move! program. I signed up and was provided with a bluetooth scale and pedometer to transmit data each morning to a dietitian monitoring my progress. I wasn't sure at first what to think about weighing myself every day, but turns out I like seeing the overall downward trend.
If I were to rate myself for the past month on a 5-star scale, I'd give myself 5 stars for logging, 4.5 stars for staying within my calorie budget, and 2.5 stars for activity level. I think that being a part of this group, along with the accountability factor, will challenge me to become more active on a daily basis.

If you look under discussions there is one for each day of the month. You should post in the respective discussion for each day answering the three accountability questions.

Hi, I've been on UAC since January and have lost about 35 lbs since then, 45 lbs total. Believe it or not, I haven't taken a single pass day 😀 but I like the idea and may well start using them.

@Riaceltic here is the link to the group in general https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/140629-ultimate-accountability-challenge-june-2021 If you scroll down, you will see the thread for each day. Either @RangerRickL or I, @smoda61, will start each day's thread. I added the June 1st opener 20 minutes ago, so you should be able to see posts have started. Tomorrow will be the June 2nd and so on and so on. Good luck!2 -
My goal this month is to check in on every day, regardless of how many times I can write "yes."
And regarding the winners circle, I will practice one of my favorite sayings; "expectations are pre-meditated resentments." Therefore I will find the value of maintaining an examined life if "the challenge goal" is out of reach.7 -
First day and checking in after 30 minutes cycling. Thank you for this group to help along the way.6

Hi. First time with the group and excited to be held accountable. I have such great motivation the first of every month that usually disappears by the 7th lol. Not this time.
I have 20 pounds to get rid of and I am going to make a good dent in that this month.7 -
This will be my sixth month of the UAC.
For this round, I would like to watch my weekly rather than daily calorie budget, as I will be experimenting with fast days after being inspired by @Mrs_Hoffer.
Good luck to everyone!5 -
Hello everyone!
So this is my first time doing one of these challenges and I'm hoping it keeps me accountable. Last month there were a few days I went over my calorie budget but I still managed to lose 6 lbs in 3 weeks. I'm hoping to lose at least another 5-10lbs this month!
I'm a 25 yr old stay at home mom to a now 1 yr old boy. Finishing up training for a 5k and hoping to better my running by both speed and distance.
Since I don't have acces to gym equipment all my exercises are body weight based except when I go out for a run.
I'm hoping to stay consistent with these monthly challenges because I honestly think it'll help me reach my goal of losing 60lbs before the ends of the year 😁
Wish me luck!
And good luck to all of you on our goals!7 -
Hi everyone!
I am Jen. I have been in and out of UAC for a couple of years actually. I joined while I was working on getting my MBA. I am just realizing that I "suffer" from trying to think I can manage everything and I have too many irons in the fire, so to speak. I am starting with a clean slate now. My son just turned 18, graduated high school, and preparing for college in the Fall. This past year has been extremely rough on us, dealing with my abusive ex, court, and not to mention COVID. Things are finally settling down, and we are adjusting to our "new normal". I am looking forward to finally being able to build that better life for my son that I have been working for. I am going to start tracking my months in UAC to help me be consistent.
Part of that better life is to have a healthy lifestyle. A few years ago I lost 50 pounds, and I was ONE pound away from my healthy goal weight. I quit smoking after the weight loss, and gained it all back, plus a little extra with covid. I saw the picture of me and my son at his graduation and I am ashamed of how bad I have let myself go. It is obvious by how I look that its been a rough couple of years for my son and I, but it's time to change it while I still can. I got depressed when I gained the weight back this last time, and struggled to get my "drive" back to start over and lose the weight. It finally clicked with me when I thought about my struggle to quit smoking. I would have that "start and stop" smoking cycle as I was trying to quit smoking. I always told myself to "keep on keeping on" and that I need to "keep trying until it stuck and don't give up". Which is exactly where I am now with my weight loss - I need to just keep on keepin' on, keep trying until it sticks, and don't give up. This time is it different!
I have always been overweight, and I have always been a yo-yo dieter. I would lose weight, start to look and feel good about myself, and then gain the weight back. My family is not into having a "healthy lifestyle" so UAC is my support group.
I am not sure what else to say at this moment. I would like to lose weight and reach my healthy goal weight, which technically I have never accomplished. More importantly, I would like to develop healthy habits and have a healthy lifestyle for me and my son for the rest of our lives.
I look forward to getting to know everyone in the UAC. Feel free to add me as a friend8 -

Yay @biketheworld ! My approach exactly!!

@squirrelnoodles aka Connor. Nice to meet you! I sure wish I’d joined UAC when I was 18. I’m happy to help you with any questions you might have!

Beginning my 40th month!Hello. I just signed up ready to start June 1st. First time in the group. Was wondering how do ypu log a bit? Can't really get faloroes for a lick..lol does that even count..?
@riaceltic Hi! I use another tracker, but you can usually enter grams which help for a lick!
Best,

Hi everyone! I hope its not too late to join for June. Im new to MFP but a habitual yo yo dieter. I was hoping quarantine would be my time to focus on finally losing those last 10 pounds but instead I managed to gain 40 more! I definitely need the accountability! I apologize in advance if I'm posting in the wrong spot... still trying to figure the app out4

@Oofta_1507 It is never late. Welcome 🤗 You are at the right place. I put the same 40+ during quarantine which are by the way now gone since January. Being in this community helped me a lot1
