Our favorite day of the month, the 15th is when we share and celebrate something positive that we are experiencing.
Non-Scale-Victories:
What is going right with you?
6 -
Yay!! The 15th!
NSV:
I realized I don’t eat to deal with emotions now. A biggie.
I realized I don’t like to eat too much, so I don’t.
I finally resumed (very gradually) my upper body strength training …my logic: even a few reps each day is better than zero.
I have developed my drawing & art practice to the point where I think of them as “companions”, making me feel more fulfilled and resilient.
I keep aware of all that I am grateful for - especially when the going gets tough.
Happy NSV Day!!

My NSV since May 15, 2021
• My Fitness Age reached absolute minimum: 20. This is my TomTom watch statement: “Congratulations, your Fitness Age is off the charts! You are fitter than the average 20-year-old female. For athletes like you, VO2max is a better way to track your fitness level”. As for VO2max, I had 41 few times, but it seems very difficult even to keep it. I am not sure if I can get over 41 at all, but I will keep trying
• At last, I managed 10 km run again in less than an hour (0:59:28).
• In general, I am more active this year. Compare distance covered last year 927.8 km against this year 892.3 km. And the year is not over yet
• No alcohol for 140 days. Lifetime regained – 11 days. Money saved – 2002 Euro.
• I started seriously with the strength training and I hope I will learn to love it. May be when I see the results…. Stretching would be my next project… My body needs this badly. I go back to the normal work in the office from July 1, meaning it will be more challenging to find time for all my activities. I can do stretching in the office considering that it is almost not occupied (only one female colleague and we have separate rooms)
• I fit again into my smallest jeans, but this is still a tight fit

15th of June
Yes yes and yes for today, had to use exercise calories though.
Hmm my nsv is learning how to stop at one. Hubby bought pizza tonight for him and his brother i asked him just to buy me a desert and no pizza. He ended up still buying me my fave pizza so i just had one slice. Something ive never been able to do.
Also i hve not had a pass or a binge yet this month. Wen i find myself stress eating im able to stop almost immediately which again ive never been capable of. Lastly i started eating at maintaince calories this month which has been hard to do as i hve been on diets my whole life!
Congrats @Winner_in_Life and @Madisomolly2017 on ur nsv so inspirational!13 -

@donna25trinity Thank you! But eating only one slice of pizza is a big success... And I mean this really... May be that is why we never buy pizza ...

NSV in spoilerMy NSV is the consistency I have maintained since March, particularly over the last few weeks. Sometimes such consistency seems to come easy, and unfortunately as we all know there are times where consistency can be a huge struggle.
I feel blessed in that it feels like there has been a harmonious interplay of will and chance since rebooting my health in March after doing mostly nothing in 2020 (and part of 2019 for that matter). I had a lot of intentions starting out and stuck to my original goals (or their intents), but I have also stumbled upon some other things purely by chance that are helping me even more than I originally set out to do.
For example, this intermittent fasting I am doing was completely by accident. All I was trying for was a clean ketogenic diet, and after several weeks following that diet I simply fell into an eating schedule that just so happens to be intermittent fasting. While I don't really want to do that on a daily basis, for now it seems to be the only thing I can do as I can't really eat any more! I just wind up somewhere between 16/8 and 20/4 for a fasting/eating schedule no matter what. I am getting roughly 2400 calories/day in case anyone is wondering and I simply feel full the rest of the day once I get around that number, no matter what my eating schedule is. So I can't really complain. At least not yet as the weight loss is still underway, no loss of energy, and still seeing gains in strength.
Also the boost to my Balance & Mobility routine with the longer isometric holds which I touched upon yesterday has made a noticeable impact to the form of my gait and improved my speed. I also think it has improved recovery and is part of what keeps me from dreading any upcoming scheduled workouts. I wouldn't have made that change to this routine without stumbling purely by chance across a new challenge on these MFP forums. This success with that challenge is what made me look into other challenges on these boards and ultimately land here.
Finally, simply finding this challenge has helped me turn some of those unexpected extras into additional daily goals that I probably would not have tracked otherwise. Plus this challenge definitely helps me with consistency. Who knows, maybe all of that "luck" was just some way to lead me here?9 -

NSV this month: I started MFP May 17/20. Basically my daughter told me about this app, and I threw myself into the diet plan one morning. It was a lot of mucking around trying to learn how to manage this weight loss journey. I tackled it from then to the end of August when I pretty much quit logging. (Although in my mind I had not quit and I did have a few periods of "restarting".) I jumped fully onboard again May 15/21. Just now I went back and checked last summer and the most consistent I had been with logging and staying within calorie allowance was 17 days. Since starting logging again in 2021, today is also my 17th day of consistent logging and staying within calorie goal. If I am successful tomorrow (and I am very confident I will be), my NSV will be that I surpassed my prior year record and made it to 18 consistent days: WooHoo! lol.
But... my real success is that I used this past year to identify that the reason I wasn't losing anymore weight was because I was self-sabotaging by binge eating. I bought a book on it and started working through it. I am now aware of what my issues are and my triggers. I am practicing replacement behaviours for them and trying to make them lifelong habits. Last summer when I was on MFP, every day I felt like "I hope I can do it today". This summer it's "I know I can do it today".

@donna25trinity I applaud you for being able to stop eating pizza after a modest portion. Pizza has always been a trigger food to me. Lately, I have been better able to feel satisfied sooner and not overeat pizza. That is new for me.
@Whatmerunning Thank you for your 'spoiler' posts!
@MaltedTea, the athlete! You are wonderful and congratulations!
@MadisonMolly2017 I am glad your 'companions' are getting lots of your positive attention!
@Jana_2020 Your NSV is inspiring to me. I'm glad you are growing wiser through self-knowledge. We all need that.

It was a perfect summer day here at the farm. One of my daughters was here with our only grandson. They spent the day sorting through family photos taken across the decades. That is a part of changing our residence.

June 15:
I will start with the good news - NSVs:
1) I feel better.
2) I feel better about myself.
3) Though I am still wearing the same size, my clothes hang/fit/look better.
4) My husband said yesterday that I looked slimmer.
Today pushes me over my 3 pass days, but that is OK. I am here regardless of my outcome; this group is very supportive and helps keep me accountable!
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, 30 minutes on a stair stepper.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? I do not think so. I had no work to do today for the first time in several months (I am still working virtually from home), and a friend asked me out to lunch. (Only my second time out to eat since COVID started.) She picked a "small plates" restaurant, and I honestly lost track of everything I ate. (Those small plates add up quickly!) But, I did not have dessert! I didn't even want it! So, that's a win!
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Nope, see above. I completely lost track.

My non-scale victory has been creating my running habit, where 1.5 years later I feel like something in my day is missing if I don't run. Exercise isn't an event anymore, it's just part of my daily routine the same as drinking coffee, and I love it.
My mini non-scale victory is being 2 weeks into this month and feeling like I'm right back in the groove that I was in a year ago, where I'm feeling like it's easy and routine to track my daily cals and tell myself no. Very pleased with that, because the first week was HARD and I saw just how often I wander in to my kitchen and graze.9 -
