NSV-slept for 8 + hours last night. That doesn't happen very often with dogs and a DW that is an uber early riser.
Smoked some stuffed jalpenos and pablano peppers I grew last night. Used crab meat mixed with asiago cheese and bread crumbs for the jalapenos and hot turkey sausage and chedder cheese in the pablanos, then wrapped the pablanos in bacon. Smoked with cherry pellets.
Purty darn good if I say so myself. The crab meat stuffed jalapenos were the best. Bacon wrapped anything is a close second.
Finally got the huge semi dry oriental rug out of the basement. Couldn't really roll it up, kind of had to fold it long ways in quarters. Then used a vehicle tow strap to haul it to the bottom of the bilco doors up and out to back yard. Propped some planks of wood on the steps for a slide, and then alternately using my tractor (poor traction with turf tires on wet grass) and what little brute strength I have left, worked that carpet out of the bilco doors. My fitbit was impressed with my workout.
DW has decided all the carpets must go. Not worth trying to salvage. The big oriental rug is over 30 years old and has gone through some rough wear.
Good to hear that your injected knee held up, Bill. Hope the Shingrix reaction is minimal.
Hope everyone has a good day lined up today. I am just gonna play with me pups.

Good Morning!
Thank you for the suggestions on camping with Collin. My brother and I are both eagle scouts, and have a ton of camping. My brother passed in 2002, so I cannot camp with him. My son made it about a year in scouts. We were camping on a weekend campout at the main scout camp. they had the old style canvas tents on wooden platforms there. Yep, we got visited in the middle of the night be a racoon. Collin has not and will not go camping again.
I spent a chunk of time yesterday digging up Connie's overgrown iris bed. I am half done. I wonder what I'm doing today? That is hard work digging those up around all of the grass and weeds. She has at least 100 iris plants. Then we are going to plow it, and expand it. She went out yesterday and bought more plants. I cannot express how much joy I'm feeling right now.
I cooked KC strip steaks on the grill last night. Yum!
Have a great day!

Nice work with the peppers Lee. It's been awhile since I grew hot peppers. I did grow Ghost Peppers one time which were of course hotter than hades. I do like some of the mild tasty Hatch smoked peppers so I should give it a try. I have some Hatch Pepper cheese at home now too. Yup bacon wrapped anything is great. I have done bacon wrapped dates stuffed with Manchego cheese etc etc.
Yup critters do visit you while camping. I have seen annoying chipmunks and also a bear making the rounds to camp trash barrels from my tent
Have a great Labor Day.

Ha!
"Yep, we got visited in the middle of the night be a racoon. Collin has not and will not go camping again."
Sounds like Collin has a form of Agrizoophobia, racoon specific. Dang. I had a feeling you had explored camping with him.

Good morning gentlemen.
Rita has lost 1lb. and I have lost 3 lbs. since we brought Sassy home: the puppy diet plan.
Sassy p**ped in the house, last night, then stepped in it and tracked in out into the kitchen. When Rita found it, Sassy ran to greet her, stepped in the p**p and slipped, leading her to roll around and get it all over her. Rita's yelling, Sassy's yapping, floor is smeared all over. Sassy got her first bath. Later, we couldn't stop laughing.
The crab-stuffed peppers sound fantastic.
Why not get the shingles vaccination, Bob? What's the down side. Of course, I am the guy who gets everything, without questions. Uncle Sam said, "You need this" and I rolled up my sleeve. I have had the old shingles vaccine (when I turned 50) and the new, two-part, vaccine (just before COVID). Didn't have any side effects from any of it.0 -
Good Morning
The reaction to the Shingrix has just about passed. The arm looks fairly normal again. We will see what happens with part 2. I had a fairly mild case of shingles the first time. This vaccination stuff gets complicated. Bob says there is an 8-10% chance of recurrence. The vaccine is 85% effective. This ex number cruncher isn't up for this.
Dave, I laughed pretty hard. I am glad Rita could laugh about it when it was over.
Heather is crafting Thanksgiving cards with her sister via the web, so I will be doing some baking, some practicing music today, and some reading before firing up the grill again. Good old-fashioned hamburgers last night with a nice char. TriTip for a change tonight with grilled asparagus.0 -
Good late morning. Those stuffed peppers sound amazing, Lee. I can smell the wood smoke from here.
Doing a mountain of laundry today. Never got around to visiting anyone yesterday--crashed when I sat down to read a little bit. Catching up on sleep, I guess.
Have a great rest of day.0 -
Hate it when they paw paint the floors (sometimes the cabinets, kennel, you) with poop. Remember when I said God/Mother Nature makes them so cute for a reason?0
