Mornin'. Raining here pretty hard. Still dark at 6:00... moving into the fall of the year.

Never got to hike or bike yesterday... it got really hot out, and I got really sidetracked with my ham radio rig. Tinkering with it in my car, I discovered the antenna wire was kinked between the radio and the back of the glove compartment where I had installed it, and also had a loose connection. After 4 hours of drilling and redrilling new bracket holes in the door until I got it to not kink and still close, I finally finished. A trial of patience, and now I have a glove compartment with a dozen extra holes in it, not good for resale value. But reception is fantastic, and I reached Mt. Graylock with a test signal, on the other side of the state, probably 90 miles. Two-meter rigs usually go about 20 miles or so, so that's great. Glad I discovered it, because transmitting without an antenna can fry the circuits.

Did my hand weight routines yesterday while watching the TV news. Broke them into 4 sets of 10 reps instead of two of 20, a little easier to finish. Will help with paddling endurance I am sure. Hope to do another camping trip before cold weather arrives, though next few weeks I've got a doctor's appointment, two days of continuing ed, and a couple of days with DB to go visit his son, who was finally released. October still has nice weather usually, although it's chancy and some campgrounds close then.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Mornin' gents.

Great brunch date with DS#2 in Brooklyn. Kid is phenomenal condition in spite of working 80 hrs a week clerking for a bankruptcy court judge. He has taken up playing tennis with a group of guys on public courts in his neighborhood.

We walked over the Brooklyn Bridge to meet him the restaurant and something started floating around inside my right knee (has had two arthroscopic surgeries and have been told will need a replacement sooner rather than later) and I almost fell down as the floater got caught in articulation. Knee promptly swelled up. Thankfully DW had ibuprofen handy. I made it to the restaurant and then back after brunch. No problems on the way back but knee is pretty swollen this morning. Ice packed for 15 minutes and is much better. Have to be careful about taking ibuprofen or meloxicam since am on prednisone.

I will not discuss the idiots we encountered walking across the bridge. Oy.

Dave, those spinner tops are exquisite. I saw the photo on FB of Sassy pulling Rita...you want to get that under control before she gets any older and bigger. Here is an easy technique that I personally use and advocate to stop pulling. The half hitch around the chest seems to be enough to manage a puppy, but some dogs will need it around the waist to stop the pulling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TszV_3y3Qcw

Bill, I would be in trouble if I made bread. For example, I bought a small loaf of sourdough bread to use for my BLTs with the thought I would use 4 slices and then give the rest of it away. Sadly, I consumed the whole loaf with the help of a lot of butter and cheese. It was very good.

    Be OP ;-)

    Good Morning!

I lost .4 pound this past week. That is two weeks in a row with a loss. I'll take it!

This week I will push at work, and then I am on vacation for a week. We don't have any plans yet. I know that we are not going anywhere, primarily because of COVID. We will do a small series of day trips from our place. We have several places that we have talked about seeing, all within 150 miles or so of home. I don't want to think about home improvement projects, but I have dozens of them that I can work on.

    Dave, those spinners are cool.

Mike, I still have not gotten my kayak wet all summer. Perhaps this next week. With my arthritis, the focus this summer has been on walking and biking. With the extreme heat, and smoke that we have had this year, I just have not been able to talk myself into going out to the lake. Much like we didn't get a garden in this year, either.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning gentlemen.

I'll try the half-hitch when we walk, today, Lee. Thanks. We have our first puppy obedience class this afternoon, too.

Reading about baking always tempts me, but I am not good with fresh bread. The several years back, when I gained 25 lbs. coincided with my experiments into no-knead bread recipes. I'd eat half a loaf within an hour of it coming out of the oven.

    Good Morning

Congratulations Steve on two weeks of losses.

Bread baking went quite well. Been a while since I used the Tassajara method which is how I used to make bread. First time doing it with a stand mixer. Tricky but it came out fine. Should have pulled it a few minutes early. I got some tweaks to the process and some new things to try. I miss baking bread. One loaf went to my neighbors. The other is calling my name constantly. Not the best 24 hours of low-carb eating I have had. Brakes are slammed on now. Off to the Ortho to follow up on my knee injection. A bit earlier than he requested but I have jury duty coming up. Hopefully it will continue to improve and buy me another year or so.
