Morning~
Hard getting motivated to return to work today. Ugh.
Gonna be a long day. Full Honor Funeral for Gene Deatrick (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_Peyton_Deatrick) this afternoon at Arlington. Going to attempt to make it.
Gene was a member of our Post and his contributions to the creation/evolution of the USAF are nothing short of remarkable. Proud to have known him; hopeful to make the final honors ceremony.
Mary - are you all recovered and back to normalcy?
How'd first night upstairs go, SGM? Did #Sassy survive (did you survive)?
Cheers,
Skipper0 -
Mornin' BBB.
Brunch with DS#2 was good. Walking across Brooklyn bridge we ran into a lot of contestants for the annual Darwin award.
Sam, I roasted okra from my solitary plant on the grill last night, sliced lengthwise with olive oil and SBG (salt/black pepper/granulated garlic). Tender and delicious.
Steph, we saw ETSY headquarters in Brooklyn but did not take the tour. Its located in the DUMBO section. Didn't you used to work for ETSY?
BBB OP ;-)

Good Morning,
Sorry about friend Skip
Lee, need more than one plant, love okra raw or however cooked
off to yoga, busy week0 -
Good morning BBB crew.
Didn't make it upstairs, last night. Maybe, tonight. Sassy still doing very well, though. I'm actually getting more sleep than I often did before we brought her home.
Does roasting get rid of the slime, Lee?
Somehow, in the last couple of days, many of the trees here turned from green to golden. It is definitely fall. Still pleasant temperatures, though. And I have yet to deal with rain when taking Sassy out in the middle of the night.
Darn pup is growing too fast, though. We left her in the utility room, while we were out for a couple hours, yesterday. She reached a shelf we thought was too high for her, and we returned to a floor covered with shredded paper and cardboard.

Good morning
I'm in bed enjoying my day off. Looking for a Netflix movie... send me your suggestions thanks.
So I gave ds2 a set of my paternal grandfathers cuff links, which ds2 worn on his wedding day. So fun and meaningful. Do you all have anything you passed on like that?
Sorry for your loss of friend Skip
Wow Steph that clothes count is inspiring to clean out clithes!
I'll check back for Netflix suggestions for this morning s movie, thanks0 -
Morning BBB
I didn’t work for ETSY but did sell some of my cards and paintings there. Good memory.
No family jewelry in my family. I’m from mostly poor farmers.
I recommend Forks over Knives. But only if you are thinking of cutting out meat. I usually rewatch Ocean’s eleven or something similar if I control the remote. I see there is a new season of Leverage out so I’m current rewatching the original before I watch the new on. It’s on Amazon for free.1 -
Our DDIL's engagement diamond is my paternal grandmother's, from 1910. Also, our granddaughter has a caned-seat rocking chair that was my dad's in the 1920s. My mom gave it to her on her first birthday. Our grandkids have a stool that looks like the skunk from Bambi, which my grandfather made for my brother and me in 1952. The kids stand on it to brush their teeth, just as we did, long ago. I am sure these things will be passed along in another 20 years, or so.1

I have a large wooden drum table that has been passed down from my G/G/Grandmother..... Bucks stops with me. We have no kids to pass it to and my only two cousins are, well, to be quite frank: idiots (between the two - their rap sheets are longer than my arm). Alas, it will likely end up in an estate sale when I kick the bucket.0

So about your friend, Skip.
No slime when roasting okra.0 -
Good afternoon BBB Friends.
- It must be Monday, breakfast with the ROMEOs.
- I remember when Col. Deatrick passed away. I hope you make the funeral Skip. Always impressive at Arlington.
- Mary, we watched a couple of old movies last night. The Intern and The Proposal.
- Neighbor ladies new laptop finally showed up. Getting it set up today.
- I wish I could give Sassy and Larry an ear-rub.

Hello everyone!
How meaningful, Mary! I can't think of anything like that for us. I had to throw away a plant yesterday that had finally died, from my dmil's funeral in '05. I still have another one from that funeral that's going strong, and I've given the nieces potted shoots of it. That's probably about the closest to what you're describing.
Lee, I was all interested in the okra (I've never tried it) until Dave mentioned slime. Not a selling point.
Sam, I've been doing yoga! Kinda. It's just a little sunrise thing - super easy and mostly stretches. 15 minutes. I feel like it's helping my posture, though! I think of you when I do it.
I hope your relaxing day was completely perfect, Mary! You deserve it after all that work!
((((Skip))))) I'm so sorry for your loss.
Hi Dennis!
Dave, it sounds like you are a pretty incredible doggy-daddy.
Not much happening here. I have my online AA tonight. Oh! And Thursday is my 8 year sobriety anniversary. I have a friend who read my post on fb last year, and she got sober the next day. How awesome is that! I ended up sponsoring her, so we'll be celebrating her first year on Friday. Plus, she's throwing a party on Saturday. Should be fun!

Memories. DW has a lot from her parents and grandparents. Me, not so much. I never met any of my grandparents but my mother's father was a conducter on the PA railroad and I have his well worn pocket watch. With no kids the question is which of my nieces or nephews to leave it to. Interestingly I got it from an uncle who didn't have kids.0

You are such an inspiration Lisa.0
