That’s a mean machine there, Sam! Better hide the keys from DMIL…

Have scaled back camping trip slightly. Fellow camper Dave still has some back issues, it turns out, so we are going to a remote drive-up site on a different part of the lake and camp there. We’ll go paddling a bit during the day but not haul our gear miles across the lake. I’m fine with that.

My BP seems good now. 120's and 110's / 50's and 60's. Doctor is pleased. Have to get a kidney function blood test after a few weeks, and potassium level check, before follow up visit with nurse late October. My hip xray shows a "minimal dysplastic bony protrusion from the posterior lateral aspect of the junction of the femoral head and neck." Will discuss with doctor.

Church this morning, then visit apple orchard with DD and GKs and maybe others. I think they also have a brewery...

    Good Morning!

Mike, I hope that you have an awesome time on your camping trip!

I spent a hunk of yesterday patching and painting the ceiling in our living room. We had water damage from a roof leak this spring. I still have just a little patching to do along the center beam at the peak of the living room. That should be about half an hour. I didn't get real far with the greenhouse yesterday. I am going to work on it more today. Interesting side note. As I was looking at the door area to the greenhouse, small at 4x10, I saw a little snake go into a hole, just inside the door to the greenhouse. Now what do I do? I am not terrified of it, but I also need to make sure that it is not a copperhead.

I am feeling stiff and sore from doing several physical type things this week. It was good to be off work, but I am ready to go back. I'm wishing that we could have actually gone somewhere, but it was not in the cards again this year.

My weight was up again this week. I will start working on that again after today.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning gentlemen.

Congrats on the new ride, Sam. Have fun.

    Peaceful looking site, Mike.

Mice are going to get into a greenhouse, so so are snakes. That's not a bad thing. My experience with copperheads is limited. They seemed pretty passive and non aggressive, when I encountered them in Texas, at least compared to the rattlesnakes and water moccasins. Just don't stick your hand into dark corners without looking first, I'd say.

Sassy slept through the night for the first time. Yipped for attention at 4:45. A milestone.

    Mornin' gents.

So calming just looking at the photo, Mike.

A former WW lady friend who relocated from Oregon to Montana posted on FB a photo of a baby rattler on her porch. They vaccinate dogs out there for rattlesnake venom. My experience with copperheads is that they tend to leave you alone if you leave them alone, but I would not want one in my greenhouse.

My 13 year old sleep number foam frame and mattress cover was falling apart and making it very difficult for me to be comfortable on my side for very long. A whole new bed would have run $7K or thereabouts, so we just rebuilt the foam frame with a kit and new mattress cover for just under $800. So comfortable last night. Shoulda done that a lot sooner.

Sassy is growing up! The first 2-4 weeks are tough, gets easier from here. Lucy has finally lost all her deciduous (baby) teeth. Thank gawd.

Easy Rider Sam. Pretty sweet ride.

    Be OP ;-)

    Good Morning

Your new ride is a beauty Sam.

Mike, Dave has a good friend. I am glad you found a solution that allows you both to go.

We don't get copperheads here but have plenty of rattlesnakes. You always had to keep an eye out while trail running or hiking on exposed trails especially if the trail isn't busy. I hate snakes. We are off to SF this morning for the Van Gogh Immersion show. Since we are both feeling pretty good we are driving in and then will do something like go to Golden Gate Park and the Arboretum or just walk in the park and go for a drive. Lots of memories there.
We are looking forward to the 61 degree high in the City, although it is cooling off here. I'll be firing up the Weber for a tri-tip tonight.

Copperheads down here are fairly aggressive, rattlesnakes generally leave folks alone unless someone encroaches in their space. Fried rattlesnake can make a tasty dinner.
    Enjoy camping Mike

The Umass extension service once told us that mothballs scattered around and into snake holes can drive them away.
