The opener is very encouraging for me. I am 1 year 10 months in and still have only lost about 16/17 pounds but like you @biketheworld I was at a point where every year I was gaining. I've definitely been working on "radical habit/attitude adjustments but yes, little by little I am getting there" (to quote @TerriRichardson112). I know I'll get there but it's going to take me much longer than I had thought. That's okay; along the way I am learning what I need to in order to achieve maintenance - very insightful @MadisonMolly2017 in stating the GOAL is maintenance. I also love your list of reasons @victorious55, ty for sharing it.
Mar 8/22: Yes x3. I tried to work in some movement today, thanks to @lesdarts180 Mar 5 post. It was only 4 1-min breaks to climb stairs but it was still more than I usually do when I'm working. I also worked through lunch so doubly important to get a bit of movement in. After work I did my strength training - a habit I'm trying to do every 2 days. I was tired but determined to get it done. I also wanted to be 200 cals under goal today to allow for some possible errors on estimating yesterday. I was 183 cals under; I'm okay with that.

Your testimonies are such powerful reminders and encouragement to me that although the road is long and sometimes quite hilly, and feels very lonely at times, it is possible to reach and keep good health. But did you see the regain in the beginning? I had to change a lot of habits. It took time!
Eventually I joined NOOM & set a goal of 4lbs per month. That worked well until I joined MFP & UAC & lost the rest. I marvel now at how perfect I was in UAC in those days. I was extremely curious about what I would look like at a truly normal weight. That motivated me. Then once there, how Great I felt motivated me!7 -
