Hi everybody!
I'm lodilas, 30, from Germany. I have spent the last few months writing and submitting my thesis (yay!) and have tried to start working out again and eating more healthily whilst doing that. But now it is time to focus and build a healthier lifestyle all-around.
This is not my first rodeo, I lost around 50 pounds back in 2015 with noom and maintained a decent loss for a couple of years staying active and managing stress. However, the pandemic and work-stress has really affected my mental and physical health - I'm now heavier than I was in 2014 (still fitter though - I enjoy lifting, hiking and swimming). I feel much better mentally now and ready to tackle this challenge and feel lighter and more flexible again!
See you in a couple of days!

WELCOME @lodilas !! CONGRATS on finishing and submitting your thesis!! (Yay is right!!!)
I'm glad that you're going to be joining us for April!2 -
Hey everyone
My name is April, I’m 31 years old and I’m from the UK. I originally joined MFP soon after the birth of my son in 2018 as I had gained a lot of weight and was unhappy with how I looked and felt. I was 184 lbs at the time and I lost around 40 lbs using MFP and walking more. Fast forward almost 4 years later and I’ve gained a lot of weight back which has resulted in low self-confidence.
I’m currently 158 lbs and I have set myself a goal of reaching 150 lbs by the end of April. I have joined the challenge as I need that accountability (it’s what worked for me years ago), I also need to move more and could use some encouragement. I look forward to supporting and encouraging you all 😊6 -
Hi everyone.
I'm Lisa. 44, originally from the States but live in London now. March was my first UAC month and I learned a lot. Hoping to have fewer pass days in April and do more cycling.
Good luck!6 -
WELCOME @kodakslim !! I'm glad that you've found your way back to the UAC after gaining back only 15 lbs of your weight.... (personally, I waited much longer and gained back much more!!) You got this!!
and Welcome Back Lisa @Cowphilosopher !! So happy you're going to join us again in April.5 -
Hello Everyone
I am looking forward to establishing some new healthy habits.. that will lead to success eventually. Thank you @Mrs_Hoffer for the group challenge!4 -
WELCOME @jnnfrstrong !! Good for you! It's important to develop healthy habits because our "motivation" won't always be around. A large majority of us will eventually go through a "slump" as far as motivation, but if we've developed good habits, they will carry us through those difficult times. I look forward to getting to know you better.3
-
Thank you @Mrs_Hoffer! I like the idea of the UAC .. short and simple rules but, I am sure.. not so simple til the habit happens.4

I'm back for month 17. I have a lot going on in April (multiple trips, packing, moving, prepping house to sell, etc) so it will be another month of maintenance and my only goal is to not gain for the month. Last month I set maintenance level calories and didn't eat back active exercise like I usually do. Planning to do the same for April.4

Hi all. Terri here. Good to see both returning and new members with us for April 2022.
I've been with UAC since 2017. This is such a great motivational space, where you get valuable support from the kind, caring members. It has helped me finally reach my UGW (just before Covid hit the world for six) and stay there for the duration. Posting everyday helps build solid habits which will help you on your quest for better Health and Fitness.
Although my focus shifted from weight loss to fitness/health well before I went on maintenance, I'm delighted that, in October 2021, I fell below my original UGW, and I have managed to maintain this.
Bring it on!!!

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Hi - I'm Marisa and back for my 6th month as part of this wonderful UAC community. Everyone is so encouraging (especially when you aren't encouraging yourself as much as you should), knowledgeable about strategies to help you when you have your struggles, and most importantly, cheerleaders to celebrate your successes no matter how big or how small.
Looking forward to April!5 -
Hi all, I'm Kira, I'm 51 years young!! I am excited to be a part of this. I work part almost full time. I am working on lifestyle changes. I am overweight and not in great physical shape but I am working on it one a day at a time.6

Hi to everyone new and returning! I am Julie and I live in Canada 🇨🇦 This will be my 9th month on UAC.
Walking is my favourite form of exercise and I will be so happy to increase my speed, time, and distance once we say goodbye to the ice, cold, and snow. I use Apple Fitness+ for the other aspects of my activity and am always trying something new. I aim for 30+ exercise minutes; 11,000+ steps; and 600+ calories of “move” (all on Apple Watch) each day.
I love to bake and cook, and modifying recipes to create healthy alternatives is like a sport to me 😊 This year will be my first more significant expansion of food gardening and I am looking forward to getting the seedlings started indoors in April. I am really happy winter is leaving and spring is showing more signs of its arrival every day. ☀️🌱🌧🌦
I absolutely adore our 19 month old standard poodle “pup” Beauregard and you will see photos of “Mr Handsome” on my posts (well, if the app ever lets us post or view photo content again 😑)5 -

@jamcnewman Julie, he looks like he's posing! And you're right - he's a handsome guy (and I think he knows it!)
It's good to see so many of our regulars posting and introducing themselves! I'm excited about April!! 🌈 🌷🌸🌺3 -
Hi everyone! I'm Caroline, returning for my 8th month of MFP.
I am turning 42 in April. My journey with weight loss began with a weight gain in college, and then losing it with weight watchers shortly after. I then maintained that weight loss for about a decade until getting pregnant. My first pregnancy, I was very sick and needed to eat constantly to keep from throwing up but could only eat white food. I gained over half my body weight. I then didn't gain much more with my second pregnancy, but was unable to really devote time to weight loss until my youngest was 3. That was 3 years ago in May, when I really was able to take some time (not enough time, but some time) to focus on myself. Since then, I have lost ~25 pounds. In the last few months I have been struggling more with the weight loss than I did along the way (being very hungry at a deficit) and sneaking extra nibbles or having pass days where I eat way too much), and I think I may be transitioning to maintenance. I wanted to lose more, but I am (barely) in the healthy weight zone and it seems like maybe this is where my body stops.
I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is in the "early" stages in that I still have a functioning thyroid, though I have had the disease for 10 years. It occasionally flares up, usually because of an illness or lack of sleep or severe stress. Unfortunately I have found the COVID shots cause a really bad flare up of the condition - though I am sure COVID itself would be worse - I have been lucky enough to escape that so far. So that makes all of this quite a bit harder in several ways.
I figured a lot of this out in March, with a "learning month" of trying to accurately track without judgment and a lot of support and advice form the wonderful members of UAC.
For April my goal is to eat at the number I have found that is a very slight deficit and seems to keep me not feeling too hungry. And continue learning. I would like to at least get back to the weight I was in October - just 2 pounds away - before declaring "maintenance." But I am trying hardest to just not gain back any more weight, so that may be maintenance.3 -
Hi, I am Susan. I live in a rural area in Kansas. I am back for my sixth month with UAC. I have now lost 50 pounds, and am in Onederland since actively tracking with MyFitnessPal starting last August. Like many others, it is not the first time I have lost a lot of weight. I have lost a lot and gained it back twice in my life-- so I am continuing to try to learn what I need to do to be able to maintain the weight for more than 4 years (my previous record of maintaining.)
I retired most of the way last year and will be completely retired within a couple of months so now I have time to make improving my health my number one priority and to cook, garden, and have fun with my new hobby of preparing fermented foods and drinks.
I read a lot, and I like to swim and now that I have lost substantial weight I am hoping I will again also be able to enjoy my favorite sports, tennis and pickleball, and go to Zumba classes again-- all activities that I had stopped enjoying when I got too heavy.

Hello everyone. My name is Jill (57 years young) and I live in southeastern Montana. I started UAC in November 2021. My usual workout includes videos on YouTube. It has worked because of the variability of the weather and the safety of walking outside. Last month I got a severe UTI with sepsis and was in the hospital for 3 days. I am taking time to get back into my workouts. I do get stretching done at night which has helped me to sleep.
My goal is to report every day even though I may not have a 20 minute workout.6 -
Hi All, new to this challenge but not new to MFP, although I havent been active for several years. When I used MFP in the past, I saw success so I'm here to find it again!
Hailing from central Wisconsin, and spring (hopefully) will be here soon, so I'm am lookign to get in shape!
I graduated from Couch to 5k about a month ago and I've been slacking on progression to 10k, but hoping a challenge like this will help me get back on track. I've a goal to do a 10k race by the end of June and a half marathon by the end of the year.
Looking forward to getting to know many of you and all of us seeing great success!8 -
Morning all, and happy April! My name is Ashley, I'm 35 years old, and I'm from Alberta, Canada. I was overweight all my adult life but I'm right now hovering on the cusp of my normal BMI after losing almost 125 pounds from my highest weight. I've lost weight before but never to this extent and I'm here to focus on ensuring this process is not reversed or outdone. I think the MFP community is absolutely critical to my success and I need the daily accountability. Looking forward to another month with everyone!6

And @LazyBlondeChef I know you have a lot on your plate this month, but it sounds like you have a good plan of attack. #success3 -
Hi everyone! I have been here since August 2021 I believe. I am in northwestern n.j. With hubby, 2 teenage girls and a chiweenie (7 lb dog). Mid March I was advised by ny dr to follow the dash diet to decrease my blood pressure and get my weight down. I have lost almost 4 lbs and my daily bp reading are good. Speaking of reading, that is my favorite thing to do along with games-all kinds of games. I do a couple reading challenges just to get me reading a variety of stuff.
I have been consistently hitting the champions circle-March of this year was my first winner’s circle.6
