We've had some terrific NVS's this month. I especially liked the one below from Caroline.... I LOVE the fact that she finds herself thinking "how can I get in some movement".. to me, THAT's a huge key to success! Also, that she doesn't intend to give up, but doesn't see the need to stress out about it. π Have a wonderful time in NYC with your family Caroline!Caroline_slowandsteady wrote: Β»Pass day. My NSV is I am finding myself thinking βhow can I fit in some movement?β and βhow can I make this meal as healthy as possible?β Traveling with kids to visit family for holidays means very little control. But I am both not giving up and not worrying about it. Just doing what I can. Like checking in here before everyone else is up. Of course itβs been less than 1 day, but a real attitude shift so far.

My daughter called in for lunch on her way home from holiday in Cornwall bringing proper Cornish pasties for lunch. Delicious but very calorific. I was intending to not eat all the pastry but it was too delicious! Luckily it was also very filling so I didnβt need much else to eat later on. I was able to keep within my calories, just. A very active day β including lawn mowing β helped to give me more calories to play with.
I had to estimate the calories of the pasty by looking at the database entries, but as I allow myself to average my calories over the week I had plenty of wiggle room.
That pasty was definitely a treat!

I'm really struggling emotionally tonight. My son (41), who recently broke his foot in 3 places and is not back to work YET... is having to try to find a new place to live in this crazy housing nightmare. His landlady recently sold the house, and the new owners want to move into it, not rent it out. But he's not back to work yet, and has no income. His doc won't release him to go back to work because his foot swells up huge whenever he's on it. Doc says it's not healing very quickly and wants him to do physical therapy for a month and come back for another check in. If you're a praying person, please say a prayer for him tonight. This mama is pretty worried about how much stress he's under right now. His name is Tony.12 -

Did my morning exercises, again! Core, stretching, and meditation. Visit to the off leash park in the afternoon was a bust as the much hoped for snowy and dry ground was a mud pit. One pup became really aggressive with Beau and would not back off. Repeatedly. Beau is our fourth dog and weβve never had an experience this bad before β so all in all, it was time to just head home. Made up for it later with a walk on the βdreadmillβ.
Tracked it all. Had my absolute favourite (hot cross buns) today and made butter tarts tonight for my husband.
I am sorry that Tonyβs injury is taking longer to heal and that his housing situation has become so urgent. Thinking of him and you @Mrs_Hoffer5 -

So, we've been looking to buy a house, even knowing that this is a seller's market. My girls and I talked about renting a house because we're hearing rumors about how much rent increases are going to be in our respective apartment complexes. Meg's hearing about $100/month. I haven't heard how much our rent will go up, but we've heard rumors that the complex is going to be sold and one of our neighbors who is currently living in a one bedroom wants to upgrade to a two bedroom like ours told my daughter she was told she'd have to pay $1400. I just checked the website and our model is $1271-$1321, so I'm not sure if the website hasn't been updated or if she'd be charged the low end rent and then something on top to transfer her lease. Anyways, after looking at the cost of renting a house, my girls decided we should buy a house instead. Looking at houses is fun, but not, and it's killing me to think how much we're going to have to pay for a decent home. We can't afford what we'd like so we'll be settling. We've been exploring neighborhoods and floorplans. Found a place we really liked today. As we walked away, I heard one of the girls say "This one hurts" and the other agreed. By the time we got back to my apartment (about 10 minutes), that house was showing online as "active contingent." That's how fast things are going around here. Our realtor says when we start looking seriously, we have to be ready to offer same day, probably before we leave whatever we're looking at. Yeah... I may have an ulcer before this is done. And I'll likely have put on a gazillion pounds because I eat when I stress. Sigh. I'm trying not to. I'm not succeeding. I'll keep working at it.5 -

ββ β hiked happily uphill in forestβ¦late on a tick in my arm - a first for me despite all my hiking over the years AND there was a smaller one. Hubby saw that one first - then I whipped off shirt & their was the large on in my arm - lt pink swelling slightly larger than a quarterβ¦ Iβd noticed my arm was sore but it often is so didnβt notice. Going to doctor today to make sure all is okβ¦itβs painful to the touch.
Food high, but healthy
Am attempt cooking dinners but I have a lifelong habit eating as I cook. My next habit to change, step b step. One thing I decided is to begin cooking earlier so Iβm not actually hungry as I cook. If that doesnβt work. Migh cook our main meal at lunchtime when my self control is stronge.

another pass day ... which will probably be the case for the rest of the week as I'm meeting friends for lunch or dinner every day this week. At the weekend I'll be leaving for two weeks and then return for only a few days before I move permanently. After that I need to get back on track. I don't even want to weigh myself. Pretty sure it won't be pretty.4

@LazyBlondeChef Enjoy all the moments with your friends as you celebrate together before your big move. You have knowledge, experience, and will have the motivation to reset your habits once you are moved, settled, and ready. Be kind to yourself. What a big change you are experiencing.
