How has your health improved since joining UAC?
My health has totally transformed, physically, mentally and emotionally. Following the 3 simple rules of UAC has made me understand my body on a deeper level. I have a condition called endometriosis, A disorder in which the tissue grows outside the uterus. This results in severe pain and frequent trips to the emergency department. However I am thankful and proud to say that since joining UAC I no longer suffer from severe pain. UAC helped me change my habits, reduce stress, not over eat, set boundaries, secure a less stressful role at work, put myself first, practice self care and move more. I still have endomitosis of course however I am now able to manage it as a result of the changes I have made. I know some of you are just starting on your UAC journey while others have been around for a long time. Have you noticed any improvements either big or small in your health?

@donna25trinity – a thoughtful opening, and thankyou for your honesty and openness about your problems.
I joined UAC after losing weight and maintaining for some time so there hasn’t been a very noticeable health improvement, but I have found the group very supportive through difficult times. The Covid situation has affected the mental health of large numbers of folk, and within this group there are a few of us who have had additional troubles. It’s strange how comforting talking (even virtually, on line) with others can be. One good thing to come out of the pandemic is the attention to mental health, and the greater willingness to be open about struggling with this.

I was pre-diabetic when I first joined. Now my blood sugar and insulin are normal. I had high blood pressure. Now I do not. I am more fit and can exercise longer and do exercises that I could not tolerate when I first joined. I am also having much less insomnia.

When I first joined the UAC I wasn’t sure what I needed to do but with so much support and a cheering squad I have kept my daily logging and exercising going. Some of you are aware that I have severe OA in both knees but I have been able to make big changes in my lifestyle and part of that change is being accountable to myself and others. The simple act of saying yes I did or no I did not has caused me to look at many aspects of my eating habits and how they have changed. My OA is still here but no knee replacements yet, I continue to exercise and work on healthy food choices. This group is the support that keeps me moving forward if I met you on the street I may not know you but in the UAC we are all supportive friends who each day help one another along on our journey to healthy living.8 -

Seeing some really great progress on habits this month and also feeling a significant shift because of prioritizing time to the mindset work. I'm starting a 6 month coaching program this week so I'm not sure how active I'll be on MFP in coming months. I want to dedicate my efforts towards that program and go "all in" with that curriculum/platform. The UAC group has given me a place to hold myself accountable and I'm grateful to all of the supportive people here. Just wanted to say THANK YOU! I plan to finish out the month but know that things will be ramping up and don't want to forget (or seem like I just disappear!) - keep up the great work everyone!5 -
Have you noticed any improvements either big or small in your health?
Such a great opener @donna25trinity and it is inspiring to read the health improvements team members have experienced. 🌷- I have been able to stop taking a blood pressure tablet every morning 🎉🎉🎉 I knew something had changed as I was lightheaded if I stood up quickly. Doctor has me continuing to do home monitoring; lightheadedness has subsided.
- I can now sense when I am hungry and have been able to train myself to pause during my meal then perceive and attend to the signal that I have had sufficient. For me, this is a new and really big change.

How has your health improved since joining UAC?
For me since joining UAC (where I continued to reinforce the principles I had already established a few months earlier when I joined MFP):- I went from obese to normal BMI
- I have more energy than ever before
- I had a physical and while my blood work hasn't come back, my doctor was thrilled with my progress
- I turned around what was a higher blood pressure reading on the previous doctor's appointment I'd had before I started losing weight
- My stamina has vastly improved and I can now complete intense workouts on a frequent basis and they make me thrive
- Resting heart rate has come down
- Fingers are crossed that I may no longer have obstructive sleep apnea (won't know until I retest) but at the very least I know my machine is requiring less pressure so I think the situation, even if I still have it, has likely improved
- Better hydration has lead to healthier skin and nails
So beyond thankful for the gift of turning my life around and giving myself better odds at longevity!8 -

Exercise: 40 minutes walking, 40 minutes stretching (both in the morning and the afternoon)
Tracking: Pre-planned the day but did not update the plan
Calories: It was my birthday. And there was still matzah bark in the house which I kept eating. And then my family baked me a birthday cake and I went for the mixing bowls as well as the cake. It went beyond fun to kind of disgusting.
Since returning from NYC I have been having pass days but they have been close to success. Yesterday was far from success. I really need to get back on track - all the way back on track - and I am really hoping today is the day I can do that.
@donna25trinity great opener. I can't say that I can really point to any great health gains from UAC or from my weight loss/exercise journey in general (much of which was accomplished pre-UAC). I am generally pretty healthy except for my Hashimoto's thyroiditis - so you could argue that getting back in a healthy weight range has kept me from developing conditions or kept my Hashimoto's from developing as fast. I think the doctors would agree with that - they did advise me to lose weight for years and seem happy I have done so. The exercise program I do (and have been doing for 3 years now) helps me with functional movement and has certainly kept me from injury by things like falling on the stairs or on ice because I am much more able to balance and catch myself when I fall now. But honestly mostly I just feel better in my body and more like myself at this lower weight and when I keep my body moving, and that is my main inspiration to stay here or lose more.5 -
