I know it's kind of strange but I use a recipe for baguettes because I like the taste... but I rise it in a bread pan so it comes out as a loaf..

I take my standard oatmeal recipe and add a cup (or two) of something fun. Oatmeal coconut, for example, was really good. Most of the time, oatmeal pecan is kinda my "go to" fav... For fun, I decided to try my hand at sourdough. I started off with a cup of flour (113 grams) and 1/2 cup of water from my well. I've fed it daily (this is day 4) and the instructions said to discard half of the starter at each feeding. I did so on day 2 but I let it ride on day 3... and today, before I fed it, I scooped out half and made a loaf of bread with a mix of the sourdough starter and half of my normal amount of yeast. It took off like gangbusters...

The recipe for this bread is actually a french baguette recipe but I use loaf pans rather than baking on a flat pan as would be done with a baguette. Same great taste!
