Got up at 1:30 am yesterday to drive two hours to the eastern most state boat launch in CT. I wanted to be on the water at day break. By myself, just me, me wee boat, and my flies. Fishing wasn't great but I did not get skunked. I missed taking my boat out during the 2021season, so I am trying to make up for lost time. Sadly, 2022 gas prices are making the 4 hour round trip a bit pricier.
DW is off on a nature walk with her DSister.
Weather is absolutely perfect here today. Cool and sunny.
All I got planned is burning a brush pile (checked with neighbor and he said OK), yard work, and burning some burgers later.
So sorry Frankie is so fireworks/noise phobic. It is a huge problem for a lot of dogs. Noise canceling head phones would be ideal if we could figure out how to fit them on dogs so that the head phones would stay on and the dog could not remove them. Frankie doesn't have meds? If not and you want to try something to help, call me 860-806-0270 and I can call into a pharmacy for you. I currently try a combination of trazodone and gabapentin. I am very serious, call me.
Enjoy your Fourth.
Be OP ;-)

Good morning gentlemen. Happy Independence Day.
Fishing sounds fun to me, Lee.
Don't know how we will spend the 4th. The Tumwater 4th of July Parade returns, this year, and we might go watch it. I want to be home tonight, rather than go to one of the authorized public fireworks displays. I want to be home with Sassy on her first night of fireworks, just to make sure she is OK. Last night she reacted to some we heard, but mostly by barking and running to look out the window. She didn't seem nervous or frightened. Our previous dog, Princess, was terrified of fireworks and thunder.
I made a meatloaf for supper last night, served with mushroom gravy. For dessert I baked shortcake, served with strawberries and whipped cream. It was a comfort food overload. Leftovers for tonight. The berries - from a local farm - were good, but not as tasty as those from our own plants. We aren't seeing much production from our strawberry plants yet. They are an ever-yield variety that produces until fall frost, so there is still hope.

Good morning!
Lee, thank you very much for your kind offer. I will take you up on that, if nothing else to have something for her for thunderstorms. We had a very explosive night around our neighborhood last night. I'm hoping that tonight will be calmer. Frankie curled up next to the fireplace hearth most of the evening. Earlier in the evening, I drove her to a neighboring county so that she could pee and poop. I had to do that with our Sally Sue before we had Frankie.
We are expecting heat indexes about 105 today with very high humidity. Yesterday I mowed the yard, and didn't even weed whack. It about did me in. The dew point was 73, which is tropical. We are expecting at least that high again today. It is very oppressive.
I have all but ignored our garden. Hard to make out the tomatoes from the weeds. We are expecting highs in the 90s every day for the next 10 days. I will try to get out there in an evening.
Connie has been making aprons for some time now. She has about 25 of them. She is going to try to sell them online. My roll is to photograph them, and then crop the photos for presentation. That will be a chunk of what is going on today.
Have a great day!0 -
Good Morning
Up early to watch Wimbledon again. Not too much planned today. Our town used to do a very boring event at the bandshell. We will go out for coffee and a walk somewhere &/or a short drive. My knee was sore after walking a bit yesterday so I will be careful. I need to keep going to build some endurance back. Ribs & steak tonight with some corn. We usually go up into the hills and look over the valley to watch the fireworks in Livermore. Pleasanton, where we live, did their's Friday to avoid problems today at the county fair which is in town.0 -

late check-in.
Had planned on a quiet 4th weekend, packing camp gear and drying camping meals, when 3 of my kids and their families showed up in town yesterday afternoon. We met up at another DS's pool for a couple of afternoons of swimming and gaining weight. Counted ten little heads in the swimming pool at one point, plus add in the EX and DDIL's parents visiting from FL. An unexpected but nice break in the routine.
Hot weather back today, had to cool off in pool, but forecast for Maine campsite is low 70's while I'll be there this weekend.
Town had its fireworks last night and a parade this afternoon. Tomorrow is the bicycle and doll carriage parade.
Well, back to my 4 page outdoor gear checklist.0
