Hope you are having a nice birthday weekend, Sam. You are a good SIL to DMIL. Glad to hear she is able to get up the stairs now, but should she?
Cool here. Wearing sweats this morning.
Reverse seared some NY strips on pellet smoker and gas grill last night. I used a cast iron griddle on the gas grill for the sear. I smoked the steaks on the pellet smoker at 275 until they reached 110 and then seared them. They came out medium (pink). I usually try for medium rare but am happy with medium. Some garlic and herbed butter may have slipped out of another pan over the steaks as they rested. Not OP but really good. My cheat meal for the week. So gotta be good when we go out tonight for Mexican...kind of a business meeting.
I guess this is a first for Wimbledon...a Russian born champ. Did you enjoy the matches, Bill?

    Be OP ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

Steak sounds good, Lee. My DDIL gave me a cast iron griddle I put in our gas grill to get a good crust on burgers. Grill marks look good, but you can't beat a flattop for that perfect sear.

Not the first Russian born player - Maria Sharapova 2004. First from Kazakhstan, though.

Skipping church this morning. DDIL's dad is coming over to fix our furnace. The Furnace is about 5 feet above the floor of the garage, on top of the AC unit. He needs to pull the guts out of the thing and replace the heat exchangers. I am the unskilled assistant. I built a platform for him to stand on. Might have to come up with something for him to set the heavy unit on after he pulls it out of the shell.

    Good Morning

Up early again for Wimbledon. Men's Finals and hopefully they will show the Women's Doubles Final. I am backing Nick Kyrgios. Elina Rybakina won the Women's title was born in Moscow but plays for Kazakhstan who offered her support 4 years ago when she was 18 after her home federation had not shown much belief in her. Russia (& USSR) has had two Grand Slam Champions, Sharapova & Safin, and has always been competitive in Tennis. Russian & Belarusian players are banned this year.

We had a great day of fun at the County Fair, staying longer than planned. I was double-masked most of the day. I used the method my mother taught me as a child in NY for picking horses at the races and went 2/2 at the track though we didn't wager. Racked up 11,000 steps there and went home with sore knees and a sore back. But it was a wonderful day out together and a little salve for the knees helped. The back will take longer to come around. After yesterday's fair food there will be Ten Can Chili on tap for today. You know, that would be a good name for a racehorse.

    Good morning!

Ah, steak! It has been a while since I have had one on the grill. I will have to do that soon.

The fair sounds fun! Connie is not into fairs, so I have not been to one in decades. I used to enjoy the rodeo or the crash car derby at the county fair.

I am not sure what is on tap for today. I spent over two hours working in the garden yesterday. I am still not finished. It was a bit cooler, but very humid. I sweat through all of my clothes. That pretty much kicked my rear for the rest of the day. I might try to work outside a little today, but not like yesterday. I am feeling better, but I still have some fatigue. I'm better, not cured.

    Have a great day!
