    1. Tell us a little about yourself? Where are you from? What are some of your hobbies? Etc.
I m lis 59 from the UK but have lived in Spain for 20 years. Yoyo dieter all my life. But this is the last time!

    2. Why are you on this journey? What pushed you to start?
A photo someone took in August 2021, couldn't believe it was me. I'd had a knee injury for 6 months and stopped all exercise

    3. What are your triggers and how can you avoid them?
Emotional stress. Thought I'd beaten it but just had a really really bad week! I've put on 8lb this week .... hopefully lots of water as I fell off my low carb / fasting diet

    4. Do you have a favourite diet you go by? ie keto, low carb
I count calories, stay low carb and only eat between 1.30pm and 8.30pm! Mad but works for me as I'm nearly 70lb down

    5. What is your favourite way to workout?
I swim 1km 3 or 4 times a week and walk 7,000 steps plus on non swim days

    6. What are some of your goals this month? Year?
Get the 8lb off I've just gained and hopefully reach 70lb loss

    7. What do you expect to gain from the team? Do you have any suggestions?
Enjoy the responsibility of losing for the team and reading people's experiences

    8. Share some words of wisdom with your teammates.
Don't let a few bad days turn into a week or a month or a year. Write them off pick yourself up and get back on track

Yes an incredible 8lb gain. Sorry team. Out of control emotional eating for 6 days. But I've dealt with the issue and I'm back on track and hoping lots of the gain is due to eating tons of carbs which I normally avoid!

Let’s get to know each other!

    1. Tell us a little about yourself? Where are you from? What are some of your hobbies? Etc.

I'm a nurse, I'm in NP school. I currently work nights and have a family (a husband and 3 kids)

I'm a huge nerd, I'm into Harry Potter and this webtoons called Lore Olympus. So, I read and study right now haha.

    3. Why are you on this journey? What pushed you to start?

I started back in 2011 after my son was born. I was 240lbs. I stopped eating at night and lost weight. Probably from the reduction in added calories. Then I plateued at 210lbs until I stick to a 1500 calories. I lost a lot of weight in 6 months and was 170lbs. Then I got down to 158 with diet and adding exercise.

I started working night and didnt watch what I was eating so went ip to 185. Then a car accident happened and I went up to 195. Then I finished nursing school and because of a med I was on I gained A LOT of weight and ended school at 240. I've been trying for the last 2 years to get the weight off and it's just been up and down. So, I'm having a hard time with motivation and sticking to anything without getting discouraged.

    4. What are your triggers and how can you avoid them?

Sugar. Absolutely. Ive been better lately about only having 1 serving size of it.

    5. Do you have a favourite diet you go by? ie keto, low carb

I have tried them all. I like whole30 the best because it gives a little bit more control but it also is really restrictive. I would love a buddy to actually do the whole 30 days of it.

    6. What is your favourite way to workout?

I love strength training. I want to be strong!!

    7. What are some of your goals this month? Yearstrong!!

My goal this month is too work out every week and stick to my diet with only have 2 days out of the month with going over.

    8. What do you expect to gain from the team? Do you have any suggestions?

I'm hoping to having some support and to be around other in the same situation and just having this group as support

    8. Share some words of wisdom with your teammates.

Stick to it. You are the only person stopping you.

My weigh in days are Fridays. But I'm out of town this Friday. I'll post my weight Saturday 8/7.

No need to apologize. We are here for both the ups and downs. You are right a good bit of it is water retention.

    @Megan_smartiepants1970 I would like to rejoin - 10,000 steps a day.

    1) Hi all, I’m Laura from Wisconsin. I enjoy reading and crafting.

    2) I put on a lot of weight after starting my current job 15 years ago. It’s now greatly affecting my health and it needs to stop.

    3) Being bored, anything that makes me derail slightly. Junk food always starts a binge

    4) Low carb/sugar/junk food

    5) Walking/dancing

    6) Close my Apple Watch rings daily, log food daily

    7) Motivation

Are you having problems with your exercise being written to mfp from Apple health? Mine has been hit and miss. I need to set closing my rings as a goal again. Thanks for the reminder!

It can take a bit, but I have never had it not go in before.

Penalty for huge week long carb binge from emotive eating ....8lb on
Reward for getting back on track 4lb gone overnight
It's so motivating when the scales goes down but I'm also really happy that 1. I recognise why I overeat and 2. I can get it back under control easily when I change my mental attitude!

Weird thing is mfp is writing all my nutritional information to the health app but the health app can’t post exercise. I am going to enter it manually from now on.

That’s a big part of the battle is recognizing what causes overeating. I am in the same boat as you this week. I overate all weekend and my weight is up. I know why I am struggling but it is going to take a minute to pull myself back up.

    Steps: 8,040
    Exercise: 2/5

So glad the long weekend is over. I overate and most of it was high sodium food. I did stay with in my calories yesterday but over on sodium. Of course, the scales is reflecting my weekend indulgence. To be honest, I am feeling a bit down. It was like pulling teeth to get myself to exercise yesterday but I did it. I did water aerobics yesterday for 26 minutes. I am planning on swimming laps today and some water exercises.

    Have a great Tuesday!

When do you find snacking the worse?

Happy about my loss. I watched a YouTube motivational video the other day and this quote keeps running through my mind when I am tempted to make poor choices. “ If you don’t sacrifice for what you want, what you want will become the sacrifice”. One cookie is a very small sacrifice for me to make in order to gain the health and body I want. One little sacrifice after another. :)

Fantastic loss! I really like that quote.

The gain wasn’t as bad as I feared. The scales asked me if it was my weight as there was such a big drop from the day before. Monday and Tuesday my weight was over 200. I moved my weigh day to Wednesday from Friday for a change. My reasoning for Friday weigh in went back to my WW days. I went with a friend and we figured Friday weigh in gave us time to recover from a weekend indulgence. 😆

No pool today. I slept in and there are some things I have to get done around the apartment before my doctors appointment after lunch. Yesterday I did laps and legs. My lap time is way down but I am sure it will improve in the next few weeks. For today, I am going to get some mini walks in to ensure I get my 4K steps.

I gained 3 pounds the week after recovering from Covid. Just kept telling myself it's because I didn't eat for a week because this normally would have crushed me.
