Good morning.
Back from camping and visiting GK's. First night there, after months of no rain it poured cats and dogs while lightning struck all around me. Last time camping Iost 5#s, this time I seem to have gained them back. Between the pizza at DGS's birthday party and a few cookies and a muffin... sigh. Took two GSs paddling for an hour on a kettle pond and swam at the pond's beach. No swimming at Truro's beautiful national seashore beach due to shark sightings. Did some hiking in the scrub pine forest.
Funeral in Fitchburg this morning for my recently retired doctor who died suddenly, which I will go to. And an 50th anniversary party in Worcester this afternoon for old friends.
Have a good one...0 -
Good morning!
Mike, I'm glad that you had a great time camping. Sorry to hear about your former doctor.
I'm not sure what is on tap for today. It is still very hot and humid here. It is still very difficult to get any yard work done. You can be out there for 10 minutes and your shirt is soaked with sweat. Ugh.
Connie says that I am taking her out of the house today, so there is that.
Have a great day!0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
It's funny how a camping trip can produce rain - a fact I have observed many times over the years.
I too have no idea what will be on tap for Saturday, but my DW's desires will be paramount.
Our garden has been a major disappointment this year, but Rita did pick a handful or green beans, yesterday. I sauteed them with some onions in a bit of bacon fat and had them with a roasted chicken thigh (courtesy of Costco) and some rice. Vegetables, like fish, are really best when cooked right after harvesting. Those beans were fantastic.0 -
Nice Mike those are great places to visit. We loved them last year whilst visiting Massachusetts.
Beans sound great Dave.
Yesterday was hi of 74-75deg here near PDX About the same for today with a very slight chance of a shower.
sorry about your garden Dave.0 -
Good Morning
Well, Mike, you have been wanting more rain and got it. Now you just need to work on your timing. I am glad you had a good trip. I saw the last bit of the original Dune movie yesterday where at the end Paul Atreides brings pouring rain to the desert planet. I got to admit, in another year of drought in California, it sure looked like a miracle to me. Not sure what is on tap for today. I need to check in with the boss. We might head off to the Alehouse Cinema to see Three Thousand Years of Longing. I will have to skip the customary ale as I am on day 3 of being back on my low-carb plan. Beer, the nutritionist once referred to as liquid bread. I only get 20-25 carbs a day right now so Diet Pepsi it is. I guess the pretzel's out too. Oh to be 18 and indestructable again.0 -
Back to being HOT and HUMID again
Early morning breakfast ride with some friends
Glad you had a good time Mike, rain will always come when not wanted
I wish I had your diligence Bill.
Garden has gone to pot, has not helped that I have not been able to bend over and stuff because of eyes; hope to get enough beans and okra for tomorrow, tomatoes are very leggy and only producing small nubs.0
