Good morning!
Still fighting this cold. I have done nothing but sleep this weekend. I had a bunch of plans too. I am starting to feel just a little bit better this morning. My throat does not hurt as much. I am still very sleepy.
I hope that you west coast guys can find some relief from the heat. Here, we are praying for rain. We are very dry and no rain is showing in the forecast for at least a week.
Have a great day!0 -
Good Morning
"Relief from the heat".....good one. We continue in triple digits with today climbing over 110. When did we move to Phoenix? "Relief" isn't due till next weekend. Heather and I are planning to go for a walk at 7:30 before it gets too warm. We are staying put. We have been doing movie nights this weekend. Last night was "Everything Everywhere All At Once". It was more than a bit different but better than "Jurassic World: Dominion" which was really bad. I don't know what's on tap for tonight except for grilled cheeseburgers since we are trying not to use the oven.
Hope you bounce back soon Steve0 -
Steve, rest up and feel better soon.
We're having rain this morning, heavy sometimes, and forecast is more on and off till tomorrow afternoon. It's also cool here, after mid-80's yesterday. We sure need the rain and the cool weather is nice as well. Highs only in the 60's and 70's for the next week or more.
Got my car floor back together, after 3 days of drying the floor padding in the sun. And got the license plate light working with a proper ground connection. My knee, hurt from falling on the hiking trail, seems to be healing okay too. I did a one mile walk (more of a stroll) yesterday and that was fine.
I need to not get negative about difficulties and setbacks, like rusty bolts that won't come off, and banging my head on the trailer hitch while hacksawing the bolt. It's an opportunity for learning better patience, and the difficulties borne patiently can even be a sort of prayer for family who need help in their life.
Have a good day everyone. Enjoy the rest from your labors.

Mornin' gents.
Steve, sounds like you need some chicken soup. Hope you can shake the last of it today.
Brutal heat, Bill. Thx for the movie reviews, DW and I like to try to avoid the clunkers, but I might watch JWD just for the CGI. No matter how many stars you have, if the writing and editing are poor, it won't make the grade.
I definitely know where you're coming from, Mike. Learning patience and trying to slow down has never been my strong suit.
Wonder what Dave is doing right now?
Rainy today...flood warnings even. Supposed to go to a BBQ tonight, guess it'll be indoors.

Good Moring,
Busy weekend, Saturday morning DS and DDIL came by then later that morning younger brother invited self, girlfriend, older brother and his wife to our house for supper; he brought some pork ribs and salmon for me to cook along with sides and dessert that I would provide and cook. They left Sunday after breakfast then DD and DGS shows up spent night and left this morning before breakfast. Too much company equates too much labor and little rest on holiday weekend.
This afternoon needs to look at several homes that need repairs.
Another wet day0 -
Reverse sear is extremely good. Also doing a frozen sear works at least as well. Take a frozen (preferably vacuum sealed to prevent frost) steak out of the freezer and sear it without thawing in a blazing hot cast iron pan until browned on both sides then slowly finish it. This honestly is a bit simpler than reverse sear and works at least as well. I have done both and love both. They say that it doesn't work as well if the meat has frost on it but I use vacuum sealed meat without frost
Yea ya gotta love the town I mostly grew up in (Claremont California the college town) says it is going to b e cooler todaty and maybe only 105°-106°F. Hardly a cool down.
Flooding? You don't know flooding. Our grandson is in Gwangju South Korea (arrived Thur/Fri) facing maybe the worst Super Typhoon in Korean history arriving later today our time. Everything is in lock down and all schools, transportation etc cancelled.
Thoughts and Prayers appreciated for all living there including our grandson. He is teaching English to Korean students.
Cheers and stay safe today
