Good morning!
Bill, I'm sorry about your car. I am hoping that you find a new one that will be just as great.
Connie tried to blow up the house yesterday. Before I got sick, I was working on removing a bunch of very old yucca plants on the south side of our house. I was about 2/3 done with this. Yesterday, Connie decided that she was going to help me out by taking my axe and trying to chop out some of the plants. The very first one that she worked on was next to the gas meter. She struck the gas meter with the axe and broke the plastic meter housing. She called the gas company and they treated it as an emergency and came right out to replace the meter. During that process they determined that we have a small leak somewhere. They shut off our gas and today we have a plumber coming out to do a pressure test. They even have to pull permits from the city and have a city inspector sign off before we can have the gas turned back on. It will be a cold shower this morning. We are going to go with the story that had Connie not done that, we might not have discovered that we have a leak in our gas pipes. Yep, that is the story. She was kind in wanting to help me out, but it will cost us several hundred dollars now. Last night I elevated the project and finished chopping out the yucca plants. I was not really well enough to do that and I am very sore and tired today, but it is done except for cleanup. Sigh....
Have a great day!0 -
Mornin' gents.
Yikes! Gas leaks are scary. Hope it is found and is an not any more expense than you have already incurred. Connie with an axe just doesn't sound like a good idea in retrospect. Glad there was no KA-BOOM.
Speaking of kaboom, we have thunder rumbling around with the light rain that has been falling since the middle of the night.
Be OP ;-)

Morning.
Glad Connie is okay and house still standing.
Bill, amazing miles on that buggy, quite an accomplishment!
Off to Bible study again this morning.
Got in a late hike yesterday and heard whippoorwills again as dark set in. Remembered halfway that bear season is underway and changed to my orange hat. Heard on the news a VT hunter was shot by another hunter who mistook him for a bear…was not wearing his orange hat. Dumb and dumber.0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Rita was coughing a lot again, yesterday, so she took a home Covid test and it was positive. I tested negative. She took another and it was negative. DS tested positive. Covid drama in the family. We have an appointment for PCR tests this morning. Until we get results, we are quarantined. Rats.
I have a club meeting tonight, but I guess that is out. Church building and grounds committee meeting is tomorrow. Maybe I can attend if it is outside, I wear an N-95 mask, and we social distance. Probably not, though.
Yesterday's VA hearing test was about like the last one, in 2019. I'm not bad, but have lost a lot of the high range, especially in my left ear. This time I said to go ahead and order hearing aids. I have an appointment next month to pick them up. There is a 6-month trial period on them.0 -
Good Morning,
When you get hearing aids you will not have an excuse for not doing everything Rita wants.
No rain in forecast for next 10 days
Steve, let us know where the leek is found; if it was at meter surly gas company would have told you where.
Off to look at project for neighborhood missions1 -
Yup gas leaks are scary. We had a fireplace in our old house that had a gas input inside which we didn't use because it was difficult to turn on and off. Whilst it was on the housing market some realtor tried turning it on and apparently couldn't get it shut off so just left. OMG I came by the house and smelled gas everywhere and turned it off at the meter and opened up the windows. All that was a big risk as any spark (static clothing, pilot light or whatever could have sent the house and me to kingdom come.
I'm sorry but you just don't do that and leave!!! YIKES!!
LOL Sam. I have known gentlemen to turn their hearing aids off when not wanting to listen to their spouse.
I got some new signia fancy hearing aids after listening to a WW buddy. Takes time to get use to them.
Sorry to hear you are quarantined again Dave!!0 -
Good Morning
I am glad that the leak was detected, and the cost seems well worth it. At least you will know all is well.
Dave, I am sorry about the Covid. People have let there guards down now and moved on. At least the vaccines can help it be less scary of an issue.
We are not replacing the car since Heather will retire next year and then we move to Oregon and will not need 2 cars. So I will get organized and take Heather to work on Wednesdays and then run errands to start. It will take some getting used to. My back was bad yesterday and I haven't been sleeping. I spent the day trying to find my registration paperwork which was with the smog and the title. It was right here now it is not. I spent the whole day looking or resting. I fear I might have grabbed it with some things when I was putting the last of the recycling out Sunday night. So no last long drive. I was able to push through the registration online though. Today I will request a new title and see if I can collect a copy of the smog report or I will have to take it in so it can fail a retest. Yesterday kinda sucked.0
