Nice bike ride yesterday, about 5 mi. on a rail trail through forest and across ponds. Roof rack works well, although requires some juggling skills to get bike on and off alone. Will check effect on gas mileage on longer drive today to Quabbin shore bike trail. I will mostly use for rides nearby, we have a 9 mile rail trail and dozens of miles of forest road right here in town; I am blessed to have hiking, paddling and biking (and snowshoeing and skiing--not to mention icefishing) so nearby my home...

Heathy wishes for everyone & families with COVID, symptoms, colds, recovering, etc. etc.

    Good morning!

We are finally supposed to get a cold front come through today. Yesterday it got to 99 again. That was the third record hot day in a row. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be 59 with rain. We have been so dry.

We had four interviews yesterday. The fourth person seems to be a great fit. We made an offer and she starts today. She was not in a full time position so we were able to get an immediate start. Woot!

I am still just very tired. I don't know if it is the stress from work or remains of COVID. I am probably feeling a little of both.

Mike, from the pictures that I've seen, you live in a very beautiful part of the country.

    Have a great day!

    Mornin' BBB.

    Prayers for Rita and Heather.
A surgical teaching resident once told me that incisions heal side to side, so long incisions heal at the same rate as short incisions. Glad Sassy's surgeon was not afraid to elongate the incision to make sure all bleeders were ligated. I would strongly advise making her wear the e-collar to prevent licking when you are not watching, Dave. Any licking will make those sutures very difficult to remove.
Mike, I would say you are well placed for what you enjoy doing, or maybe you just make the most of what is offered. Either way, your enthusiasm for the outdoors is admirable. Except for ice fishing, LOL.
Congrats on getting an new assistant, Steve! Hope she trains quickly and efficiently.

    Be OP ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

Sassy is doing very well at home. The two meds they gave her make her a bit lethargic, which is fine. I keep her on a leash when she goes out in the yard. Thankfully, our weather, now and for the next two weeks, is perfect, so no rain to deal with. One of us is with her pretty much all the time. She has shown no tendency to lick her incision. If she does, the vet said to bring her back for a cone.

Glad the personnel search was a quick one, Steve.

We share a passion for the outdoors, Mike. I couldn't live where those opportunities were lacking.

On my subaru I lose about at least 20% mileage with two bikes on top but no more than 25%. 25% is typical.
My temp from "cold" peaked at 101° yesterday evening so after a day of higher temps I took two alee and it was back down to 97.3° which is typical for me in the a.m. Nasty old and had two negative covid tests (one at home and one at walgreens yesterday.
