Good morning!
I hope that Mike has an awesome camping trip.
It is 42 degrees here this morning. With exception of having no rain, we have had beautiful weather. The weather dude said last night that our ground is so dry, it is hard for enough humidity to generate to help create rain.
I did get the payroll finished yesterday about 3:00 pm. We have to prepare the day before the actual payday so that the direct deposit can be issued by the bank. I didn't get a whole lot else done yesterday. Our new person, although she has been doing good work, is showing possible signs that we need to be cautious. She really likes her cell phone.
Bill, prayers for your pain management.
Have a great day!0 -
Mornin' gents.
I miss Mike already.
Well, in case no one shows you any love for payroll this week, I'm going to give you an "attaboy!" Steve. Seriously, it is your "man behind the curtain" work that keeps that company running. LOL, get a signal jammer for the new kid. www.thesignaljammer.com
Dang Bill, that sounds really painful and annoying. Prayers for healing, my friend.
Fatigued this week post Skyrizi injection.
Be OP ;-)

For many years I enjoyed going to the national eye research meetings in Sarasota FL. They have since moved to Fort Lauderdale area. Sarasota was largely spared all things considered.
My wife and I are slowly recovering from our nasty colds. In the 40s this a.m. and suppose to be in the mid 80s by tomorrow in pdx. Way to warm/hot for this time of year in the PacNW.
Hang in there Bill with your pain. I still have some itchy stinging sensations from my presumed yellow jacket attack last Sunday. I must have trapped one under my bike jersey bottom near the top of my bike shorts. The large red welt from multiple stings had receded a bit. Never saw the beast but sure felt his presence.
I did have one boss send me home because I had pneumonia and he did not want others infected. He actually made me stay home for several days. I suspect that having sickies come to work and spread germs is not always the best option. There is probably a good middle ground there.0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Dermatology appointment this morning. I haven't had a full-body check for three years. Used to get one every year. While I'm there I'll ask to have a really big mole on my side removed. It's benign, but it grosses Rita out when she hugs me. The thing is 3/4 inch across and 3/16 inch thick. Been there for years.
High of 71 and sunny today, before we start hitting 80s over the weekend.
Steve, I think you need to set expectations for what the new employee gets done and leave it at that. Cell phones are just part of everything many people do, now. As long as her work gets done.
We gripe about work ethic in the current generations, but I remember plenty of lazy bums back when my work life began in the 60s - and I'm sure it was always the same. People have always been people.0 -
Good Morning
You are right, we always had those who didn't put in a full effort, but I think it is more acceptable now to be put out if a job is to demanding or not accommodating enough.
Busy day ahead. I have to head out for a PCR Covid Test in 90 minutes. Then it is back home to meet up with my son who will follow me to the Auto Scrapyard so I can scrap my 21-year-old Saturn under the States program that pays me $1000 to get old cars like mine that failed its smog test off the road. I am surprised this program still exists. A bit of a pain but worth it for me and the air.0 -
I agree with Dave about work ethic. I know quite a few folks young and old who work much harder and longer than in the 1970s. Shortage of personnel and hi expectations can do that. I know in the medical community including medical research and testing it was more enjoyable in the 1970s. Yes we spent some extra hours without additional pay but still a better atmosphere.0

We have very low unemployment, and many companies just wanting warm bodies; work ethic not what it used to be. Went to Lowe's yesterday and three employees standing and talking to other employees told me I needed to use self-checkout, why do I get a discount for ringing up my own merchandise. Walmart wants one to self-checkout but then wants to check receipt, I'll let them check me out.
Hope Mike is having a great time.
