Enjoying my cup of coffee in warm sunshine, sitting on my balcony overlooking multicolored autumn trees. A perfect fall morning… we will pay for this come winter!

Paddling yesterday was great—Ware river was flowing well, the rain had stopped, 60° and no wind. 7 miles and virtually all “wilderness” except an old dam and ruins of a factory beside it, a place to stop for lunch and a campfire. Fun day. Unfortunately I stopped for coffee and a chocolate chip muffin on my way home.

Bill, your baking looks incredible—how do you resist eating that?

    Good morning gentlemen.

It will be around 80, today, and the record for the date is 72. We will really pay for it, I suspect. At least it will be warm for the Mariners' game, with the roof open. Weather should be about the same, tomorrow. Only downside, is that we are getting a lot of smoke from fires in the mountains - fires that would normally already be quenched by October rain. In Tumwater we usually get about 4 inches of rain for the month of October. So far, this year, we have 0".

Took Sassy for a 6-mile walk in the forest at a state park, yesterday. She loved it. We'll just walk in the neighborhood today, so I can watch the ball game.

    Good Morning

The tart I baked was well received and came out well. Heather brought home a small sliver and had me sample the frangipane. It was perfect. I am pleased. Someone wants to order a cinnamon coffee cake I made a week or two ago for Thanksgiving. I have mixed feelings about going down that road. Yesterday was a bit of a bust. I had a good two-hour talk with my Mentor about moving into the Community's novitiate then rushed out the door to meet a new tutoring student only to get to the library to receive an email that she had to cancel. Went home and relaxed a bit and then headed to the lab only to arrive to find they didn't have an electronic copy of the order and I hadn't brought my paper copy. At that point, I broke my fast and ate around 2 pm and relaxed and read enjoying a cup of coffee at the Mall. Dinner was a failed batch of Apple Buttermilk Pancakes and turkey sausage. Martha Stewart missed on that recipe. Diced apples and applesauce were too much. Frustrating. Not sure what today brings, except for cooler temps in the low 70s like it should be. 10 can chili will be on the stove.
