Good morning!
Frankie decided that I needed to get up at 4:50 this morning. Just a little early for a Saturday. It is a frosty 22 degrees this morning.
I have a ton of chores and projects to work on today and tomorrow. Last night I started putting together a metal trailer to pull behind my yard tractor. I'm about half finished. I'm discovering that arthritic hands can't put in 100 nuts and bolts like they used to be able to do. I still have not started picking up leaves. Rain is moving in again tonight. I'd at least like to get started today.
Have a great day!0 -
Good morning men.
Must be quite an experience going to that wildlife preserve. I see interesting wildlife from time to time, but never imagined "flocks" of bald eagles before and 10s of thousands of other birds (except maybe pigeons in Boston, or mosquitoes in Maine). Inspiring.
I epoxied together the 7-foot pieces of canoe gunwale yesterday and now have to figure out how to get the 18-foot gunwale strip out of my living room, down the hallway and stairs and out of the building. Maybe javelin throw from the balcony?
My grandfather worked 30 years in the Steinway factory in NYC in the late 1800's and early 1900's; Matheis Weiss was his name. Piano workmen used to autograph in odd places the pianos they helped build. Last night I vacuumed the antique piano keys I picked up from Craigslist and found a signature in pencil on the back of the first key, "Weiss". A coincidence, maybe, but we're going to see if we can find any of my grandfather's signatures on immigration records or draft cards to compare the handwriting.
Party this afternoon at DS & his GF's house.1 -
Good morning gentlemen.
That wildlife refuge was a special place. I've seen dozens of bald eagles together before, but always along streams where salmon were spawning - and dying - and the eagles gathered to eat the carrion.
Very cool to find that signature, Mike.
Another quiet day, I hope. I have to help put up Advent decorations at church, this morning (the annual "hanging of the greens"), then hope to watch a couple football games: the game formerly known as the Civil War, between the Ducks and Beavers, and the Apple Cup between the Cougars and Huskies. Still have some Thanksgiving leftovers we brought home, so no cooking is required.1 -
Good Morning
Yesterday was a bit strange. Pain levels ramped up quickly, especially during Morning Prayer on Zoom. I headed over to the recliner to find some comfort before heading upstairs to get some pain meds. Next thing I knew 3 hours had passed and I awoke to minimal pain levels. So we just took it easy the rest of the day. I feel good this morning and am ready to get things done around here. This thing has a mind of its own. Heather is off to a luncheon with her friends. I am going to get the living room ready for the tree. I have a corner of the room screened off as a prayer space and it will need to come down. I will miss it.1
