Today is St. NIcholas Day in our church. He was a 4th century bishop who legend says not only left coins in stockings of the poor that were hung up to dry, but also once punched a heretic in the nose. A diversified fellow.

Hiked yesterday with DD who's home from Bali. She'll be here till Christmas. I really need to hike a few miles each day--to sleep better, maintain energy and maybe even lose weight.

Bible study this morning, then bringing canoe to a friend's garage to try and splice in a section of inwale that I discovered was cracked when I replaced the outwale.

    Good morning!

Mike, I hope that you get to spend lots of time with your daughter while she is here.

I am finally starting to see a little daylight at work. I'm still woefully behind, but progress is being made. Today I will finally publish 3rd quarter financials, so I can move on to October. That will go faster.

I was surprised to hear on the weather last night that we have been 21 days without rain again. It has been so dry here. We are supposed to see some rain on Thursday.

    Have a great day!

    Mornin' gents.

Good you are making the progress with your backlog, Steve. One man can only do so much, but a good man can do a lot, and a good leader can move mountains.
    Good old St Nick.
Someone told me that 3600 steps or more a day helps prevent dementia. Sounds like you do at least triple that daily with your hiking, Mike. Sharp as a tack, right? Sounds like DD is a chip off the old hiking block.
Some days I only get in 4500 steps when I don't get to do a walk or hike with the dogs before work. I'm on my feet a lot at work, but don't get in too many steps there. My goal is 10 K steps daily, but lately it seems I hit that only 4 days a week. Two days a week I get near 15 K.
Sometimes the best laid plans go awry, Bill.

    Be OP ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

I'd like to go for a hike, but no time for it, today. Have to drive to the Army hospital to stand in line and get a prescription. Then we need to do some shopping for the grandkids' Christmas gifts. We won't really have Christmas, anyway. They decided to celebrate the holiday by renting a mountain cabin with friends, rather than being with us. We feel a bit abandoned.

Let's see Dave, otherwise you would be decorating, and Rita would be preparing a large meal and then there would be taking down and packing away till next year. Make it up with a New Year's gathering.
    Mike, enjoy hikes with DD
Steve, glad you are seeing progress
I may need to get a Fitbit to keep up with activity, but I don't believe I could hold out to do anymore.
Two yoga classes today, one tomorrow then working on floor installation again; have 1320 feet including steps and platforms then about 300 feet of base molding. Trying to complete in December with all other activities.

    Good Morning

You seem pretty darn active already Sam. I read your stuff and wonder what is a Fitbit going to do for you?

Since I have been feeling better I am able to get things done. Things are beginning to shape up around here. I have a guy coming tomorrow to finally get that hood installed. Might be a bit pricey but worth it to get it in the rearview mirror of our lives. I have a call into another recommended contractor for the kitchen, and IKEA coming out to measure tomorrow so we can do a layout should we go that route. The first floor almost looks like a normal family lives here. Its a lie of course, but gives one hope. I am hopefully having a tutoring session this morning with some errands afterward and then its back to continue the effort around the house.
