Body measurements can be a useful way to track your progress. For instance with exercise you may see a loss of inches even if the scale isn't moving. But these are important Non-Scale Victories (NSV). To ensure accuracy, measure in exactly the same place and under the same conditions each time. These are the starting points.

1) Body Measurements Tips

Bust: Place the measuring tape across your nipples and measure around the largest part of your chest. Be sure to keep the tape parallel to the floor.

Waist: Place the measuring tape about a 1/2 inch above your belly button (at the narrowest part of your waist) to measure around your torso. When measuring your waist, exhale and measure before inhaling again.

Hips: Place the measuring tape across the widest part of your hips/buttocks and measure all the way around while keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Use a flexible measuring tape, such as plastic or cloth, stand tall with your muscles relaxed and feet together.

Then record your Measurements on this page. These measurements are private, only seen by you. https://www.myfitnesspal.com/measurements/check_in Hit the 'Save Measurements' button at the bottom.

3) Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator measures weight in relation to height, to determine if your weight is appropriate for your height. It’s just a general measure and can give you an idea of where you are so that you know where you need to go. Note where you are relative to a healthy BMI.

Record your numbers to compare to your measurements in 8 weeks.

I've been taking my measurements for years, usually every 4-6 weeks. I think I'll start on Saturday, January 7th and measure about halfway through, and then again at the end of this challenge.
