Lately, logging-in here has gotten quirky. This morning's took me to MFP's German language page, last week I landed on a Portugese page; sometimes I have to log in twice.
Last night's book club meeting was great. Ten of us at someone's house. A new woman there grew up in my hometown, and is about my age. We traded stories, but she went to catholic school in the next town so we never crossed paths there. Good food, maybe a wee too much for me.
I got in a nice hike in the afternoon. Rivers are really running, there's only a light dusting of snow on the ground, and temperatures are mild for January. I'm ready for a blizzard or two for some snowshoeing.
Coffee, then church, then some football at DS's house.0 -
Good morning!
I'm finding myself down about 2 pounds. I'll take it!
It has been a very mild winter here so far. Here, they are saying it is because of the storms on the west coast and how that is pushing the jet stream. I don't mind.
I got most of my chores done yesterday, so today is more about little projects.
Have a great day!0 -
Mornin' gents.
I'm up 5 lbs. Ugh. Gotta buckle down.
DW has the honey do list ready for me today.
Smoking a rib roast this afternoon. Going to cook it to brisket temperature. Not a fan of the rare interior you get with most rib roast techniques and recommended temps.

Good morning gentlemen.
I was pulling for two teams in the playoffs - both lost yesterday. That opens up a lot of time for me to do other things, I guess.
I waws going to make a snide comment about over-cooking a nice piece of beef, but that would be kind of stupid. Fix it how you like it.
Looks like rain, all day, today, so, after church, I'll be back in the shop, at least for a while.0 -
Good Morning
Yesterday was a lazy day per my wife. So not much got done beyond a visit from my neighbor and his son. An extra day of rest has didn't hurt the aches and pains either. But today is our celebration day of Heather and our oldest's January BDays and to make up for us all not being together over the holidays. We are off to brunch. I am eager to get out of the house and do something. I may threaten to climb to ladder to get the Christmas' boxes down which may motivate some movement toward packing it up. I might be frustrated I just can't do it myself. If not I am off to the appliance store to order the refrigerator and range while the sale is on. Fun times0 -

LOL, I was trolling for a comment, Dave. I usually like a medium rare, but what I don't like is how the fat cooks between the cap and the eye, especially when cooked rare! When you cook a rib eye steak, it renders out better, but in the roast, it just is a weird blob. I love beef ribs cooked similar to brisket doneness, so this is a bit of an experiment for me.
I feel well done beef is delicious if done right. Again, we shall see. Leaner cuts I like to cook rare. Such as the venison I did last night.
I like buying new appliances. Getting rid of old ones and installing, not so much.0
