WELCOME to all walkers!

It is time to start a another new monthly challenge! It is June, and the year seems to be going by quickly. Summer is here B) which means there may be more opportunities for walking outside, unless the higher temperatures make streaming workouts or DVDS inside with the AC on much more suitable.

This group is open to any and all walkers. Many of us use Leslie Sansone as well as other favorite instructor's walking or workout DVDs, as well as those great walks or hikes outside on the trails or pathways that are available to us, or a walk in our neighborhood, or on the treadmill. All of these many options count toward our miles, steps, or minutes.

However you get your walk in, come on in and join us! Whenever you are posting what you have accomplished please remember to also share any strength training 🏋️‍♀️ or other types of workouts 🧘‍♀️ that you are doing. We all benefit greatly by learning from one another and getting new ideas.

We are a happy, supportive group, and I promise that joining this walk challenge will motivate, challenge, as well as inspire you!

The goals 👟📅 that you choose are your own personal goals for this month.

If you find this group in the middle of the month it doesn't matter which day of the month that you join in. Just set your goals to reflect what you hope to accomplish during the remaining days of this month. It is never too late to join in :) , you are always welcome!

I know that we are always excited to see our long time faithful walking friends o:) join us for yet another amazing month together, and we are certainly always awaiting the opportunity to welcome newcomers to this month's Walk Challenge!

And now... let us lace up those walking shoes 👟 and get our water 🥤... and walk, walk, walk into sunny June 🌻 !

Apple Watch Challenge: Reach my exercise goal (20min) 7 times this month.

June came in HOT to Michigan. We are having an actual heatwave Highs in the 90s through the weekend. 😳😳😳 Our back porch temp reader, which is in the shade, recorded 95 degrees a few days back.

I'll keep trying to hold things down @texasgardnr, I see a few of our fellow walkers show up in my MFP newsfeed so I know they are still active.

We are finally supposed to get actual rain overnight and break the drought. DH & I decided tonight was the best time to spread the 5-pound bag of pollinator plant seeds. Hopefully, in a few/several weeks we will have a nice crop of flowers. The clover we planted last & this spring worked out so well covering our yard. We've watered very little these past few weeks and haven't mowed the yard since the drought began. When most of our neighbors have large brown dead spots in their yard we have small patches. Clover for the win!

We did get rain the last few days. :) We have had sun, clouds, and a pretty comfortable weather system for a while.
We made it through the Smoke from the north as well but man it got ruff, not as bad as the area's out east but enough that we added another air purifier to the house.
Our den is now ready for workouts again, well for me at least. We brought up an old 27" iMac we had collecting dust and that will serve as our DVD / Youtube access for now. Had to uncover all my DVD's to get moving and have access to Youtube for what I don't have on DVD. Now I just have to remember where the yoga mats went. 🤔🤔

I'm trying to log my food again both here and on Cronometer. There are some slight differences between the 2 as far as what they say my daily requirements are.

Hope you all are doing ok and surviving whatever nature is throwing at you.

International Yoga Day is this week and I haven't located the yoga mats yet. That gives me an extra Apple Watch challenge. Maybe it's a sign for a new thicker matt. 🤔

We are back under a burn ban due to fire risk. I think our yard is fairing ok. We've planted 7-10 pounds of clover seeds in the last 2 years and that is very drought tolerant and we like to keep our grass relatively longer. The Birds seem happy about it. We have several different species pecking through our yard, plus a ton of bees bouncing over the clover. Compared to the neighbor across the street who treats and sprays their yard and adds a bird feeder and has about 1/4 of what we have. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have a cousin who had struggled with her weight for her whole life. In the last 3 years, she was able to lose over 100 pounds and keep it off. She did it by following a program called "The faster way to fat loss." To me, it sounds like a combo of: Carb Cycling, I/F, & exercise. She said one of the biggest keys for her was adding more protein to her diet. So I'm trying to up my protein throughout the day. On the 1st day, I made 2 scrambled eggs with 2 chicken sausages mixed into them then threw it all into a low-carb tortilla. 25g of protein and I was so stuffed I couldn't each lunch!

I think I've run out of randomness to mention for the moment. 😁🤣 Hope everyone is doing ok.

Looks like I'll miss my mileage goal but I did reach my AW challenge.
We've been under Air Quality alerts from wildfire smoke from Canada. you can see it in there and most days it has a burned plastic smell. 🤢

I hope you hear from more people next month.

@Deeder522 Miles Tracked: 76 / 80 well done, I know not quite enough to meet goal, but an amazing number of miles indeed!!
Apple Watch Challenge: you reached their exercise goal ✅ (20min) 7 times this month! YaY for you!! Well done 👍!!

I'm so happy that your den is now ready for your workouts again. You did well accessing your DVDs as well as YouTube for your workouts. Nicely done, and enjoy!!

Thanks for telling us that you have spotted several of our walkers elsewhere! In the past I have also, but I haven't been anywhere on MFP this month :'( . You have held the fort down quite well! Thank you so very much 💖💐.

I'm so sorry that you are also getting the Canadian wildfire smoke. My family in Pennsylvania is definitely being affected also. The Canadian fires have been quite awful on many levels.

Take care of yourself 💖. I do know all about the wildfire smoke because we often get smoke from the California wildfires, and also the smoke from the agricultural burns in Mexico come up here too, and occasionally west Texas fires during the drought. Thankfully the West Texas fires have been mostly limited to that difficult time.
I had family in California who had to drive through fire jumping across the road while escaping the California fires that had spread to their area a number of years ago now. There were a number of harrowing stories that they shared with us 😱 over the years.

I never thought of clover in the yard, I wonder if something like that would work here??? We are all too familiar with droughts here.

@hpog413 welcome! That is exciting that you did your first ever WAH Leslie mile!! I still remember mine and, the DVD, back in the summer of 2012. We will look forward sharing more as time goes on. Which DVD/ Walk was your first one?

I walked our cul-de-sac for 7 mornings this month (I've now increased to being able to walk it 5 times around during each walk).
Purposely walking indoors (either in my home, or walking extra aisles in our local grocery store or at W/M) on all of the other days.
On Sundays I do lighter purposeful walking or just a total rest day as I need. This month I walked two of the four Sundays.

I am doing much better physically, and the COVID brain fog has been lifting more noticeably now. So I'm still working at keeping increasingly more motivated all around, and also remembering to do what needs to be done .
